Surely, her male companion was quick to catch on her bizarre style of humor - which truly made the corners of her mouth imperceptibly tilt upwards with considerable gladness. Although the brunette generally did not converse with a lot of people, it was the usual thing that most of them did not catch her intimation of blithe whenever it was spoken. Mostly, the twenty year old appeared to be rather dull and gloomy, but perhaps it was not the fault of others but of her own as she chose to present herself that way. A frontage that pertained to her true idiosyncrasy yet one that was antonymous to it at the same time. How confusing; perplexing.
And pretense did have a way of becoming the real thing itself. It was almost ironic.
The male spoke of his non-existent partner that was to accompany him, and in his efforts to affirm his statement, he stood on his toes in order to descry the said person. Really, it was like the paranormal activist embarking on a phantom search. It wasn’t exactly a sight that threw her off, however. It was more like she was rather intrigued as to how a male like him was quick to revert into that side of him - it was quite interesting. Though his fabricated act was rather amusing, she dared not laugh. For although it wasn’t one pertaining to mockery or anything negative material, doing so seemed inappropriate. So the frosh observed. The twenty year old was considerably aware that her thoughts, if spoken aloud, could have sounded so deadly misleading. Hongki returned to a more suave mannerism, but that didn’t exactly prove that the spontaneous behavior was done with.
His good-natured affectation continued, with him having the intrepidity to even ask her permission to be her substitute, in a sense, for the prom since they were both here without their true imagined counterpart. His string of words proved to be fancy, yet not tacky, and that was rather wondrous. It would take effort not to be swept by his apparent false claims if he had spoken of any. Dangerous. A small smile adorned her complexion, finding the whole scenario to be rather entertaining even if normally any other person wouldn’t. The freshman was rather strange as well, as an overall. His gesture was really the icing on the cake.
Then that characteristic of his became like a ghost of the past, in which Hongki was obvious in losing his supposed brazenness from before. The computer whizz made clear of his apologies, yet it was a little confusing for the female as to what there was to be sorry for. As much as she figured, there wasn’t actually any significant crime that the other had committed. How contradicting. Perhaps the brunette was just as oblivious as always, along with the fact that she did lack common sense at times. She blinked before speaking, and that was only because she actually caught the small wink directed at her beneath his mask. Maybe he hadn’t lost all of his boldness after all, or maybe it was just the last bit.
"Forgiven," assured Junhee with a diminutive smile, in spite of not agreeing with her spoken word. It was mean, of course, to say one thing and mean another because well - that was deception. Nevertheless, it wasn’t like the female had a grudge towards him or something. She had a growing want to tell him in all honesty that him being himself was simply enough, and he need not try his best to air good-willed pretenses. Though the twenty year old was not one to be an expert on emotions and feelings, she felt the requirement to be charming was unneeded unless there was a sincere heart beneath it all. Yet again, surely she need not tire herself with these strange musings, right?
His head kindly inclined towards the grand doors, which was a subtle indication to head towards them. Unbeknownst to his inner thoughts, she only trailed after him and found a new height of mirth upon realizing that the servants would have probably witnessed her companion’s rather jocund act. Though it was already proven from the very start, entering the premise would made anyone convinced that the dean was an extremely prosperous individual. The food laid out by the caterers - surely it wasn’t home-made for an alarming of people were present - looked rich and succulent, the definite opposite of the picture of health. It was a function where homosapiens would just indulge in fanciful delights and be swept away by all of these worldly material. Temptations must have been waiting to lure its succumbed victims.
Only then, however, did her eyes notice the people dancing in a rather professional mien. She was taken aback, since some of these were the students in which she did happen to take notice of and certainly, in the most frank manner - could not dance. Yet here they were with their respective partners, swaying to the slow music with a wistful air. Looks like they had taken great effort to be their very best after all. And as she discreetly glanced at Hongki, she was certain that he was trying as well. Luckily for her, it was most probable that he had not even guessed that she had cast her fleeting attention on him for the slightest bit. For he seemed to be deep in thought, and the female allowed him to do so.
Subsequently, they headed towards a vacant table and the male had politely pulled out a said chair before running off to get drinks. An expression of thanks was uttered by Junhee, as she did not intend to let someone’s kindness or help pass by without being acknowledged. It would have been depreciating to most, if that happened frequently enough. During his temporal absence, the twenty year old did wonder if they were to dance. It was a prom, after all. But she was quite sure she wouldn’t be one to bring up the subject, since she wasn’t actually too familiar with it. His return was at a commendable pace, and he placed the drinks mildly on the table. The brunette was so terribly close to consuming the drink before Hongki proposed his suggestions. And surely she was so glad that she was stymied from doing so afterwards.
If laughing modestly was a trait of femininity and lady mannerism, she definitely failed at that moment. For she laughed and laughed so plentifully albeit it was a soft one when it pertained to volume. His dramatic act along with the rather serious expression on his face was the epitome of merriment that night. However, eventually it abated to a solemn expression since she realized that she might have hurt his feelings. All the more if he intended to be witty. Oh well. “Well, since the carpet isn’t feeling so cheery for the time being,” responded Junhee carefully with a twinkle in her eyes. “I suppose we can get some food, if you don’t mind.” The next sentence was quick to become her vessel of regrets. “And perhaps dance the calories away afterwards?” she added with a grin, only to hate herself later.
