Wiener Aktionismus

Viennese Actionism (German: Wiener Aktionismus) was a short lived art movement within the city of Vienna, Austria. It is considered to be the Austrian equivalent to Fluxus, however there are some difference. Viennese Actionism sought to provoke what it considered as "regressive society" while also exposing it's dark recesses, therefore it was way more hostile than Fluxus. Viennese Actionists focused mainly on performance art (like Günter Brus's "art and revolution" which got him arrested/exiled) but also paintings, most famous of these painters is Hermann Nitsch who is known for painting with blood.

Normally I'm not a subscriber to the whole "it's the journey that counts" rhetoric but with this I really felt it. Photo collages give you the ability to take things, cut them out of their original context and repurpose them into something new.

An album I think is very cool: The Secret Eye of L.A.Y.L.A.H. by Zero Karma. This album was released under Nekrophile Records and is from Austria. Genre for this is ritual ambient, what sets this apart from others is the fact it was recorded entirely using human bones as instruments.
