"⊠Gods, who shoved that stick up your ass?â He didnât exactly know the details of what Lonâqu was talking about, but it was⊠honestly, it was a bit saddening to hear him speak like that. âPersonally, I donât believe thereâs such a thing as wasted effortâŠâ He trailed off. He wanted to say more on the subject, but perhaps prying when the swordsman was already on edge was not the best ideaâŠ
In the tavern, he ended up ordering two mugs of the house ale. He gave the redhead an appreciative wink when she leaned over a bit to give him the drinks, then turned back to Lonâqu, shoving one of the mugs into his hands.
"I think thatâs your problem, battle buddy," he said. "Youâre too uptight. Look around you." He gestured vaguely to the rather lively bar; what Lonâqu mightâve seen as just loud and obnoxious seemed cheerful and promising to Inigo. "Everyoneâs having a good time, except for you. And why is that?" He leaned back with one elbow on the counter and took a sip of his ale. "Because your too caught up thinking about things.âÂ
"Youâve got to live a little!" The sip turned into more of a gulp, and then Inigo leaned forwards again, suddenly, close enough to speak to the other under his breath.
"See those women over there?" He gestured to a group of ladies clustered around a table in the middle of the room. "Theyâve already got their eyes on us. Canât you see it?"
"You're right, but I don't like to take changes." Not that Lon'qu was a coward, as he was able to erase his fears when it counted, but he just found it easier to keep his distance then face something other than battle head on. He was never really good with his own emotions, or anyone else for that matter. He couldn't read people very well.
"I'm not uptight, I just..." Lon'qu searched around for a proper excuse but really couldn't find one and ended up giving a defeated sigh as he reached out to take the mug from the counter, giving a slight nod. "Alright, have it your way. I'll indulge a little, but not enough to lose my senses like half this tavern. Sound fair?"
That had to qualify as living 'a little', at least enough for this time. perhaps by the fourth or fifth tavern run Inigo would be more successful at getting the swordsman to relax, but for now Lon'qu kept his defenses up.
Lon'qu's eyes followed the other's gesture, landing on the group of women before quickly averting as Lon'qu himself turned his back on the rest of the tavern. "They seem plenty interested in you at the very least. Well, you're the one who said 'live a little'. Aren't you going to charm them? I'll get some amusement out of watching you work."
