Max’s Shapeshifter. Bio under the cut.
Name: He doesn’t exactly have a name. If he does, he certainly doesn’t remember it. ( I’m gonna call him Altan though as that’s the name he eventually chooses for himself. )
Nickname: …Does Max count?
Age: Somewhere around to 10-13 years old, but he doesn’t know for sure.
Currently living in: He has been traveling through multiple forests in his lifetime, but currently he is staying in the woods near Camp Campbell.
Species/Race: Shapeshifter.
Appearance: When not taking the form of humans he appears to be a humanoid, reddish dragon-like creature. He’s terrified of showing others his true form from the fear of being pushed away because of it.
Abilities: Shapeshifting - obviously. Decent acting skills - though he seems to have a struggle grasping Max’s character. How he acts sometimes can end up raising eyebrows from even the more naive campers. Survival skills - boi knows how to take care of himself in the wilderness. Stealth - he’s good with hiding from others and staying out of sight.
Bio: Ever since he could remember, Altan has been living in the woods, having to fend for himself. Stuck being lonely for so long, he has always wanted some kind of companionship in his life, whether it be friends or family. He’s not sure if he actually has any relatives, or if he’s not the only one of his kind. Because of this, he has always wanted to be with humans - however as a shapeshifter he can only change to look like someone that already exists, but he has always been too afraid to in fear of getting caught and ostracized.
During the early summer of 201X, Altan came across Camp Campbell. He found contentment in watching everyone, close enough to watch but far enough to not be seen. He wanted to be a part of the camp, but there was no way that he could’ve been. Over time he began to take note of Max, curious as to why he wasn’t exactly the nicest to the counselors ( of which seemed to be trying their best?? ) and the other campers. After a while it did become apparent that they cared about Max.
He only could wish that others would care about him like that. That could have friends like Nikki and Neil. Though despite this he noticed that Max liked to be by himself a lot of the time. One day, during what was supposed to Astronomy Camp ; ( noticing that Max was not interested at all but probably still had to go anyway ) in the spur of the moment, Altan decided go in his stead, shapeshifting into the camper as the curiosity of what it was like to be in a human space overtook him. He had to make sure to act just like the other for the time being, but perhaps came off as a little too mean, even for Max ( well at least nobody probably noticed? ). He began then doing it more often when he could, happy to fit in, Max apparently unaware of this along with the rest of the camp. Later on, he was starting to act a lot more nice when disguised, his true personality shining through.
Likes: Going on adventures, feeling accepted, socializing, sunsets, the woods.
Dislikes: Being alone, those who try to harm Camp Campbell, possibly getting caught as a shapeshifter,
Giveaways: He eventually starts getting TOO comfortable with the shapeshifting, acting happier and seeming more excited about camp activities then Max normally would. Also, Max’s eyes can change color depending on lighting, mood, etc - while Altan’s disguised, his eyes stay the same. It can be hard to notice though if one isn’t paying attention.
