How to Dehydrate Herbs
This is my first post on my newly-minted digital grimoire, so I thought I'd start out with info I already know. Here's a short little guide on how to dehydrate herbs and other materials at home in your oven (if you have one). I usually dehydrate fresh materials instead of hanging them as firstly: I have a cat who will find a way to reach anything I hang up to dry, and secondly: there are some materials I don't feel comfortable leaving out in open air as they will likely rot. Also, it just saves on drying time.
Steps:
1. Grab whatever you want to dehydrate whether it be fruits, peels, herbs, veg, or (my favourite) eggshells.
Important Note: DO NOT EVER put plants which are known to be toxic or whose origins are unclear in your oven. It's never worth it.
2. Place your items on a sheet pan with parchment paper underneath (there may be lingering oils on the pan, but if you are okay with that feel free to skip the parchment).
3. If your oven is fancy and you have a dehydration setting, great! Use the recommended temperature. If not, set your oven between 160-190*. I usually set it lower, but if you're short on time it will work higher.
4. This is the most crucial step: keep your oven door slightly ajar in order to let moisture escape. However, very importantly DO NOT EVER LEAVE YOUR OPEN OVEN UNATTENDED (or your closed one, for that matter), especially if you have an older oven. Basic fire safety applies here.
5. The process usually takes around 2 hours if you are dehydrating thinner plants, but may take up to 3-4 if you are dehydrating something thicker like citrus peels or fruit slices. Either way, be prepared to wait a bit. You will know they are done when you can easily crush them if plants or they are breakably-solid if peels. With eggshells they will be brittle anyways, but it's nice to dehydrate them to more easily grind into a powder and also to kill any lingering bacteria.
6. Store herbs as you usually would in a container away from sunlight. Enjoy!

Guide to Drying Herbs
Drying herbs is a simple practice, and there are several methods to choose from depending on the type of herb and your desire use. Here's how I dry my herbs:
1. Drying on Newspaper
This method works well for larger leaves and herbs that donโt need to be hung.
Lay the herbs flat on a clean sheet of newspaper in a single layer.
Place the newspaper in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
Turn the herbs occasionally to ensure even drying.
Once the herbs are dry and crisp to the touch, theyโre ready for storage.
2. Hanging Herbs Upside Down
Perfect for longer herbs, like rosemary, lavender or thyme, that can be tied together.
Gather small bunches of herbs and secure them with a cord or string.
Wrap the herbs loosely in a breathable cloth, like cheesecloth or muslin. This helps them air freely while catching any small leaves or flowers that may shed during the drying process.
Hang the bunches upside down in a cool, dry place with good airflow. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can degrade the color and potency.
Once the herbs are completely dry (they should crumble easily), remove the leaves or store them as they are.
I do this with fresh lavender that I put in my closet as shown in the picture.
3. Pressing Herbs
This method is ideal for preserving delicate leaves or flowers for decorative purposes or rituals.
Place the herbs between sheets of paper (such as parchment or regular printer paper).
Insert the paper into a thick book, ensuring the herbs are spread flat and evenly.
Place additional books or a weight on top to press them.
Leave them for 1โ2 weeks, checking occasionally for dryness.
4. Drying Small Petals
For small, delicate petals or flowers, a rule bag works wonders.
Place the petals or flowers in a breathable rule bag (such as a mesh or cotton drawstring bag).
Hang the bag in a dry, ventilated area.
Shake the bag gently every few days to prevent clumping and to ensure even drying.
General Tips for Best Results
Use Breathable Cloths: Wrapping your herbs or laying them on a breathable cloth allows air to circulate freely, preventing mold while catching any small leaves or flowers that shed during the drying process.
Timing: Dry herbs as soon as possible after harvesting to retain their potency and fragrance.
Environment: Choose a dry, cool, and ventilated area to prevent mold or mildew.
Labeling: If drying multiple herbs, label them to avoid confusion.
Storage: Once dried, store your herbs in airtight containers away from sunlight and moisture.
Using Dried Herbs
Always check if the plant is safe for use before collecting it. Do not make tea or touch anything with unknown properties. Always clean your plants before drying.
Once your herbs are dried, you can use them for teas, rituals, incense, or other magical and practical purposes. Always remember to respect and honor the plants you've harvested by using them mindfully.

The Full Moon In Pisces and Lunar Eclipse, occuring on September 17th 2024, will bring very intense emotions connecting us deeply to the water energy. You may feel an intense need to close one chapter and begin a new one, with raw, vulnerable emotions rising to the surface. You can expect heightened Neptunian energy, bringing deep emotional waves under the influence of a full moon in a water sign.
A strong connection to feminine energy may occur, urging you to spend time alone for reflection and emotional release. The combination of Pisces and Virgo energy fuels creativity that might inspire you to work on something artistic or start a new project. Itโs a great time to turn those ideas into action. This is a highly spiritual time, connecting you to other realms and tuning you into the call of the water element.
This energy will also bring your toxic patterns to light, giving you the chance to recognize and release them. Remember to go with the flow and let this lunar energy guide you to be your true self, reacting to situations as your heart directs, even if it stirs up a little chaos.

โจFoundations of Witchcraft: Energyโจ
Energy is the foundation of witchcraft and magick. To be able to effectively create and perform spells and rituals, one must know how to effectively use and control energy. That's because without energy and intention, it would no longer be a spell and instead it would just be a candle and some herbs sprinkled around. Not to mention, everything in this world needs energy.
Energy is the product of the interaction of things in existence. It also follows a few basic principles:
1) Energy can not be created or destroyed.
2) Energy always takes the path of least resistance.
3) Energy flows where your attention goes.
4) Energy can transform.
Forย me, I often imagine energy as a stream of water. Similar to water water, it can also transform depending on the intention. It can be a battery pack, a tool, or even a weapon.
Examples:
1) Use to charge spells + crystals
2) Energy work and healing
3) Cleanse & clear your space with energy
Energy is the basis of how to do spells because energy is what is used to power up a spell. People tend to forget how important energy is and the connection it has to everything. You can even use energy to cast a spell even without any tools. It is the genuine foundation, along with belief, intention, and faith, of witchcraft. You can also improve the efficiency of a spell by improving your energy control.
So, in conclusion, energy acts like water but can be used in many different ways. Whether it is a battery pack, a sword, or a bouncy ball, the most important thing is to first get acquainted with your own energy and what energy is.
Just some basics <3
๐Ocean jar spell๐
Recently due to quarantine, I haven't been able to visit the beach. I have a general longing for the sea but these days it makes me so sad that I'm not able to visit at all. So I made a small simple jar spell to keep the ocean with me!
๐Ingredients
๐beach sand
๐water(any water is fine but salt water, storm water, or moon water works best)
๐seashells/seaglass
๐sea salt
๐blue wax
๐Steps
๐cast your circle, ground yourself, center, etc whatever you do to prepare for magick work
๐cleanse the ingredients you are using for the spell
๐sprinkle in the sand, and think about the good thoughts the beach sand gives you. I think about how it feels to walk in it and run your fingers through it
๐sprinkle in the salt and think about the good feeling the salt of the ocean gives you. I like to think about the smell of the ocean and the feel of dried salt water on your skin after a day of swimming.
๐place each seashell/sea glass piece in gently and think about the beauty of the ocean.
๐put the water in the jar. This can be difficult if you have a teeny jar like me, but what I did was dip my finger in the water and let the water drip from my finger into the jar. I put in nine drops to represent Clรญodhna and her ninth wave, as I called upon her to help me with this spell. As the water drips, think about the feeling of the water.
๐cork the jar and seal it with the blue wax. I like to think of it as water running down the bottle.
๐this one is completely optional, but when the beaches are safe to visit again, I hope let the ocean water run over it a few times!
Take it with you whenever you feel like you need the ocean with you. I'm keeping it in my cardigan pocket every where I go! :) Good luck witches, blessed be๐ค๐๐ง๐

do you have any sea witch resources by any chance? if not thatโs fine
I didn't have any saved but I found some just for you! I haven't proofread everything here, so remember to always take what you read with a grain of salt, critically think and cross reference.

Also this website/personal blog is under construction and I have no idea how long it's been that way but it looks cool and may be something to keep an eye on?
I feel like concepts like "sea witch" are a relatively new thing so a lot of what I found tends to be shorter, online inspiration unfortunately. But it's something!
Also reminder, you guys can ask me for resources anytime. I'm more likely to get back to you through messages, but I do my best either way.
