If anything, The Mandalorian & Grogu cemented once and for all that there is a certain demographic who calls themselves Star Wars fans, will garb themselves in the series' trappings and rant about the things they loved about the old stuff, and do whatever it takes to shit on whatever else is new. They'll crap on [x] when it comes out, then when [y] comes out they'll say "well at least [x] did this or that better," and then the process repeats for the next thing that comes out.
Not that TMAG was amazing or the best thing since sliced bread but it was exactly what it needed to be, expanding beyond the show while also staying true to the show. Things can just be Fine or Good; but to many people, a new Star Wars has to hit the absolute pinnacle of the series or medium or else it becomes a flaming turd to them; it must be the Messiah, or summarily discarded. (Or rather, lingered upon; if they were discarding it, they would shut up about it and move on instead of wasting all their energy festering on it.)
Not exactly reinventing the wheel to observe that "no one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans" but at the same time, these people keep fighting new ways to reinvent the wheel of dumb, lazy criticism. Enjoying a thing you claim to like is now inferior to bitching about a thing you claim to like.
