Game Thoughts and stuff

I havent been playing much but I HAVE been thinking about the game a lot and lingering on some forums for news about NEW content. Surely they understand just HOW hungry sims players are for new gameplay.. its been rough starting over. I do think the basics of this game are great tho and am sure theres plenty to look forward to..even toddlers eventually! Were you also thinking that little teaser trailer was a bit underwhelming ?! I think we did all expect Restraunts and it IS great that a kids pack is in the works. We thought they'd share a bit more tho right?? GEEZ. I saw on a twitter feed that someone mentioned that maybe it was a toddler under the bed dressed as a monster! ?? Well anything COULD BE..at this point. I thought the orange stuffed animal thing looks more like a chair..and maybe toddler size?? Maybe? I decided to not continue on with my History Challenge. Altho it was interesting at times I still found myself often wanting to just play modern with the new CC and I couldnt seem to allow myself that on another save. (weird I know!) So Ive been revamping my whole game again adding in new houses, places and Sims. I dont know tho if Im moving away from the interest of the game or what.. I just have not experienced deeply immersive play like I have in the past. Like, where I'd play for hours at a time and think about my sims and their lives when I wasnt playing. Even dream about them! lol . Those were the Sims glory days! lol .  I guess it wasnt great for my social life and stuff but I have FOND memories of LONG Sim marathons!! I love immersing myself in this other world and letting my imagination flow as I  play God in my Sims lives..or just even hours decorating a house. Maybe thats a meditative type state? While playing the History Challenge I was stockpiling modern CC and when I  went to add it to my game I had problems. I was so  happy to find mention of the Mod Conflict Detector! That works! I had several sims 2 files in there.  Its hard to spot those when youre searching for bad files. Another change Im making is that Im really minimizing use of High poly things (those items that have high kb) Turns out I had a few hairs that were up to 20,000! Damn. Also some of the fancier beds can get really high.  I play on an older laptop and Im pretty sure some of that stuff was causing BIG TIME lag in my game. Hope everyones finding ways to enjoy the game.. and *Cheers* to Restraunts coming around the corner!!

Since Sims 4 offers only modern stereos I needed some alternatives for my historical sims and so I converted these. They work as regular stereos. I hope you like them!

Letters from Tildy

Tildy was found early one morning fallen next to her bed. In her things these letters were found. 

Korinna: You are beautiful inside and out. The only thing left worth stealing is Quinns heart. 

Glorianna: Remember your worth.. far more precious than rubies. Share a life with a man who knows that. You will be happy and safe. 

Alys: You are a wonderful mother and an excellent cook. My  advice is to petition the king for your release and begin a Bed and Breakfast. You will do well!!

Quinn: Your grace is beginning to show. The journey has been long and painful but its rewards are close at hand. Your heart is big enough to hold Korinna in it now also. 

Juliana, Jarin and Leonardo : You are good kids and I love you. I will always be just a memory away. Take care of each other and stay close my darlings.

Where Korinna starts accepting that she has feelings for Quinn

Korinna felt surprised twice this week. Once when she looked out the window and saw Quinn out in the kitchen garden without his shirt. “Oh wow Im attracted to him” she thought but wasnt sure how to feel about it. Later he brought some produce into the storage room and she ran into him. She saw his face light up and it made her feel tongue tied and she blushed. 

“I saw that “ Tildy told her later “What?” asked Korinna. “You and Quinn. He doesnt know it yet but he’s very attracted to you”  declared Tildy. “But this scar... and he still loves his wife... and... I just dont see how it can be” Korinna stammered. “Oh give it some time. ..The good lord surely works in mysterious ways.. and Im sure Quinn doesnt really see your scar.  His heart is much bigger than that by now. ” said the wise Tildy whose feelings were confirmed about the couple as they began to spend their evenings together talking more at dinner and lingering to read out loud to each other late into the night.

Where Gloriana comes to understand she is not a witch 

The years were going by quickly and Glorianas release date from her duties would be soon. She’d been rather subdued about it but one day in the kitchen she burst out with it “Maybe I AM  a witch!” She declared dramatically (and sorry that I stink now but I havent had time for a bath lately!) “Whats this about ?” asked Tildy. “The kings soldier didnt rape me. I willingly had sexual knowledge of him.” Gloriana admitted “  It went on for a long time even tho he was married.  I tried to get him to marry me but he refused.  I threatened to tell his wife and thats why he had me accused of witchcraft.  Maybe deep down Im just bad and God cant forgive me! Maybe the devil really does have my soul!  Maybe the soldier was right and I used some kind of witchcraft with my  mind to make him want me instead of his wife! What if this continues when I get out and next time I am burned at the stake!”

“Oh my dear, no! ” Tildy exclaimed. “you were just a child. Only  14. You are a beautiful girl and that soldier took advantage of your innocence. You can only now face the consequences of your choice to continue the relationship. I do not condemn you and Jesus does not either.  It is only up to you to go and sin no more as you now are becoming an adult and aware of how your choices can affect you.  This soldier sinned by betraying and humiliating you, still a child, not yet of age to make adult decisions. The Lord will deal with him.  You can pray about it all.  Ask for help to control your sexual urges until the time is right.  Your worth in the Lords eyes is far more than rubies. When you understand that your troubles will lessen”

They talked about it all day while they worked in the kitchen and Gloriana was much relieved by Tildys caring guidance...and much more prepared to leave the castle.

Quinn joins Tildy and Jarin for some cards. Later he’s lost in thought and memories in the bathtub. 

Tildy has been observing his interactions with Korinna. Could these 2 broken people help heal each other to wholeness? She’s thinking the answer might be yes.

*Sunday* Korinna is surprised about the beautiful path to the chapel and is told Quinn planted all the flowers.

“And how are you doing these days Quinn?” Tildy asks. 

Quinn gives her a sigh and tells her honestly “Not so well Tildy.. I miss my wife and children terribly every day still. Sometimes it is hard to be here and to be around Alys’s boy Jarin and now Leo is here too. Some days I just cant bear how they remind me of my own boys who were lost in that fire! Some days I feel like I’d rather just go be with my family. its so painful to be left alive here  I just dont know how I should be handling it. I just dont know if I CAN or want to figure it out”

“Im so sorry for your loss Quinn. I can only hope that maybe you can come to see the boys here as a blessing for you.  I believe Jesus gave us grief as a great tool. Youve had so much to be grateful for. Something really worth grieving.  Not every one is given such gifts. I dont believe grief is a problem you can solve.  Its just a process you must experience. We have to allow the pain and just sit with it. It will get better with time. Bereavement is one of the great mysteries of life. It can profoundly change your life. Its the price we pay for love. The only cure for it is simply to let time have its way and just allow the grief to happen. Just remember that grace is on the other side and you WILL get there”

Quinn swallowed hard as a tear rolled down his face. Tildy squeezed his shoulder and left him alone in the chapel. 

Quinn prayed for courage to continue his life on earth without his beloved family. He prayed that he may soon experience grace.

DUTIES 

*Wake at 6am to light fireplaces and put tea and coffee on

*Put soups and beans on 

*load chickens and cornish hens onto the spits

*keep kitchen clean

*stay busy cooking all day until 6 pm.  Load fridge up.

*King has a sweet tooth so always have 2 or 3 cakes.

*children are to help with dishes. Their duties are to begin at age 6. They are to do homework then help out in the kitchen garden also

*Noone allowed to leave castle grounds without special permission

*On Sundays bookcase and game table are unlocked and all may attend chapel.

Where Korinna learns the backstory of the kitchen help 

* Matilda (Tildy) Tidewaters mother was bought as a slave in Africa and traveled on a big ship to  Europe where she died in childbirth. Tildy was raised by the past head cook and learned her place in the kitchen. She is cheerful, kind, philosophical and blunt. She allows some fun in the kitchen after hard work is done. 

*Alys Morgan is a young mother raising 2 children, Jerin and Juliana. Her husband became deeply depressed and took his own life after a killing spree while in the army. Her services were accepted as he had been a respected soldier. She has pledged their lives to the kingdom so they  would not starve. She is kind, good and creative. 

*Gloriana York is a spoiled teen of the Duke and Duchess of York. Like Korinna her family paid a handsome sum of money to the king to keep her sentence mercifiul. She was accused of witchcraft. She says she only pretended to be a witch to keep the kings soldier from bothering her one day when she was out walking in the woods. She has 5 yearsto  serve  in the kitchen. 

*Qinton (Quinn) Miller is the gloomy,loner kitchen gardener. While out in the fields one day he spied smoke from his house and ran home to discover the deaths of his wife and 2 young sons who had burned to death in the house fire. A 3rd older son was alive but burned badly . Quinton was caught stealing medicine for him. He has recently learned his older son (cared for by a neighbor) died of complications from burn infection. Quinn was given a  10 year sentence to garden only because he was known in the land as having an especially green thumb and grew large, juicy tomatoes and other produce, as well as beautiful flowers.

Where Korinna begins life in the castle kitchen 

Korinna enters the kitchen to the sound of childrens laughter and happy chatter. She joins them at the table and shyly introduces herself to all. It isnt long before Tildy announces “We best get busy!! We’ve got a feast to cook, people! “

Whereas Korinnas questions get answered

The next day Korinna is able to get out of bed with the help of the old woman known as Tildy Tidewater. She is told she is in Dresden castle. Lance is in the dungeon. The tavern keeper at the festival had reported suspicious doings to  the kings army. The town crier had spread the news of their arrests and her parents sent money and pleaded with the King for mercy and leniency.  She was sentenced 15 years to the castle kitchen. She had suffered concussion and deep abrasions to her face when she had fallen off the horse. The baby was likely brain damaged.  “He is strong tho and will thrive with your love and care” Tildy assured her, after the blunt summation. “there is no time for feeling sorry for yourself. We must make the best of our trials and thank the good lord for the blessing of our precious life here on earth. The Easter feast commences tomorrow and I need your help in the kitchen straightaway! “ 

Korinna gazed down at her little boy whispering. “We must be brave and start a new life. I will name you Leonardo, my  brave and strong little lion man”

Whereas Korinna awakens in a strange bed

Korinnas eyes fluttered open to a blurry haze of an old woman holding a baby. As her gaze begins to focus it all comes back: The barking dogs, the sensation of falling, darkness and pain, delirious fever. Where was she? Where was Lance? Was that her baby? What was wrong with her face and why did it burn and itch so horribly? She tried to speak and sit up but felt too exhausted and slipped back into a deep sleep.

The story so far : Lance and Korinna are at the week long Easter Celebration Festival held at the Kings special baths and gardens where a market has also been opened. They have been putting their klepto traits to use.  Lance has been in the tavern drinking late into the night and caused some trouble with the barkeep. Korinna is 9 months pg and exhausted with the activity. 

Where this part of the Story comes to an end and life for the Humphreys changes forever 

It is early morning when Lance awakens Korinna. He is very drunk and leading 2 beautiful white horses.  “Hurry up! We got to get out of here!” he yells while loading the packs of stolen goods. In the distance they can hear some dogs barking. Korinna manages to get on the horse but not before a deep cramp widens in her belly. “Lance!! The baby is coming!” she cries. “Hold on!” He yells as he slaps her horse in the rear and takes off galloping on the other horse. The barking dogs are getting closer. It finally dawns on Korinna that they have been caught. What will happen to them she wonders just as a deep stinging birthing cramp overtakes her  Her scream is drowned out by the horses pounding hooves and wildly barking dogs right behind her.She has the sudden sensation of falling....and then everything is dark.
