As I thought, this won't be easy. It's like fighting multiple master swordsmen at once. On top of the sheer number of attacks, his reflexes and stamina far exceed human levels. As An Old, I got to watch a lot of these flips in real time. One of the reasons Bonaly (usually) landed on one foot was an attempt to get her flips to be “legal,” since the rule at the time was that aerial moves needed to start and end on one foot.

But it didn’t matter and she was routinely marked 2 points down for “illegal” maneuvers even in free skates that didn’t require specific moves.

Her combination of athleticism and artistry is still remarkable and she was a fan favorite even at the time, which is another reason the judges marked her so harshly. She had the audacity to be popular.
