Fic Status: Unkindness is still ongoing. I don’t have a posting schedule and I’m still not sure how many chapters it will end up being. As long as this fic is marked incomplete on AO3, I am working on it. Please do not send me asks about updates or whether the fic is abandoned.

Translations: [updated March ‘23] I’m no longer allowing new translations of my work. If you have a translation in progress or completed, please make sure to send me a link. No one has permission to sell my fics. No one should be speaking to publishing companies about my fics. 

Printing: [updated Jan ‘23] From here on out, I don’t want anyone making bound physical copies of my fics. I’ve given a few people permission to do so for personal bookbinding projects in the past, but the boundary I tried to set is confusing apparently so I’m just going to say no to all of it.

**I have never given anyone permission to sell bound copies of my fics or their translations.

Third-Party Review Sites: I do not want any of my fics listed on sites like Goodreads or StoryGraph. I know some people download fics to Kindle—if you do that, make sure your Goodreads account isn’t synced to it so that you’re not accidentally adding fics without the author’s consent. 

“I didn’t like [fic thing]” Please remember that ultimately I write my fics for myself and stuff like characterization, tone, etc might not match up to what you want to see in a fic. You may not enjoy everything (or anything) that I write and that’s totally fine! But it’s also not my problem. 

ChatGPT/GenAI: do not feed my writing into anything AI-related. I understand that I’m slow to update and that some people are really impatient, but if you want to see how the fic that I’m writing is going to turn out then you’ll have to wait for me to write it. Not to mention that it’s disrespectful and insulting to take other people’s writing and try to cut them out of the equation by having ChatGPT “finish” their story.

I think you mentioned before you shopped the championship schedule and I confess it’s messing with canon timeline in my head. They were supposed to have a few more games in the books, no? It’s currently February, Neil will go back to the Nest in March, so I’m assuming the championship will be over by then, because of what Dan said about him helping them get a trophy till he has to go back. At Chapter 81, what are their point in the championship? Quarters?

I’m sorry it’s confusing to me because I don’t really remember the canon schedule but I remember going a bit longer than March, I think. I don’t know if it’s something I dreamed lol

If I remember correctly, Kengo dies after Baltimore. Neil will probably be at the Nest at the time, but the finals in the book only happens after that. In TUOR the finals will happen before Kengo or Baltimore? If it’s too spoilery you don’t have to answer.

Hi, sorry for the confusion--I get really confused as well and I've got it all written down lmao. I'll try to clarify some things:

I did mess with the championships schedule a lot. I added/made up several teams and had it so that the games take place on neutral territory (ie host schools or pro stadiums).

Neil is going to announce his intention to transfer to Edgar Allan at the end of March; he's still going to finish out the school year at PSU no matter what.

Kengo did die after Baltimore in canon, you're right.

In canon, I'm pretty sure the final game happened in May (going off page 206 of my Kindle edition of TKM, but correct me if I'm wrong). In my Unkindness outline, the final game is set to take place on April 4th.

Right now (end of Feb, in "fic time"), the Foxes are currently in Round 2 (or Round 3 ig if you count the death matches as their own separate rounds, which I've always been fuzzy on--I think of it as Round 1 + plus death matches, Round 2 + death matches, semi finals, and then finals).

Hopefully that clears some stuff up!! If not, let me know

hello, i just finished reading all of unkindness within maybe two days, or three.

i wanted to reach out and say that your work is amazing! i enjoy your characterizations deeply (even if it means i hate a character for how they behave, it means you're writing it well) and really enjoying the storylines you've written.

i hope the story gets an update soon, but no pressure to you at all. your writing is great and this is definitely my favorite fic of yours, i dont tend to read unfinished but it was recommended to me, and i was so inspired by the fic that i actually wanted to send a message about it.

I just finished reading The Cartographer and the World and wanted to drop in to say how much I loved it! There's something incredibly comforting about reading Neil continuing to grow and adapt to his new life. Seeing his old habits grow rusty gets to me in the best way, because it shows how stable and reliable he's become with time, something that his family can clearly see even if he can't. The developments in his relationship with Andrew were so good too, the hotel scene in Hawaii and the thunderstorm scene were both such chef's kiss moments of vulnerable intimacy.

You also got me sooo invested in the younger Foxes, especially the first big group after Neil. I remember you were considering a Lizzy pov fic in one of the notes of Lessons and even though that doesn't seem to have panned out, I would have eaten it up, I love all of those goobers. It was really nice seeing Neil and Andrew pass on their respective torches to Holly and Robin as well.

It really felt like both of the Cartography fics captured the spirit of the original books even as Neil got further away from the violence that made up the earlier parts of his life. As a fandom newcomer who's still a bit intimidated by the sheer amount of extra content, I really appreciated your interpretations of those ideas!

Also, I did read Unkindness last fall as well and even though I was in a commenting slump and didn't leave any at that time, please know that it did ruin my life for like the week I spent reading it. Your commitment to continuing it even after all these years is so so so admirable to me, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter! Thank you so very much for sharing your work!!!

I noticed that the comments are disabled for your Lessons series, and I don't know if you want to hear anything regarding these fics at all, but I just wanted to thank you for writing them, and sharing them, and keeping them no matter what. I stayed up until 6am reading the first part, and I bawled my eyes the fuck out by the end of the second fic. I regret nothing. I had the greatest time reading them. The bittersweet taste of parting ways, of growing up, of having life gradually change and evolve, having ups and downs – I feel like these fics made little holes in my heart, and somehow still made me feel so very hopeful about everything.
