Roxas and Axel. Axel and Roxas. As jumbled as her memory may be those two names refused to leave her mind, and Xion would rather her existence fade before she allowed those two to leave her memory. At times she would repeat the names over and over in her head as if she was afraid they were slipping away—but the puppet refused to let go.

But chanting the names like a prayer would not bring her friends to her. Roxas had gone back to Sora. Axel had faded much like she had long ago, and though Xion had searched there was little she could do to restore a fallen friend. If she could barely keep the pieces of herself together how was she supposed to restore another’s?

The ice cream that she had purchased had long begun to melt, but the puppet didn’t really care. She had bought it more out of habit than hunger. Perhaps the whole reason she had come to the clock tower to begin with was just that; a habit. No one else was coming to join her.

“Maybe I should stop looking.”

“He did?” The puppet had yet to get a chance to see what her mission for the day would be, but she supposed that she wouldn’t have to now. “Alright! I’m ready if you are.”
