Something I hope happens in S5 is the Scottish castle staff just readily accepting that Fran is still “the lady of the house” while she is actively spiraling over what it means that she wants Michaela as fiercely as she does. No doubt some of them will know Michaela’s deal, if the way the servants were handled in S4 is any indication, and their just silent acceptance of it when Michaela is the Countess would be SO good.

According to the books, Michaela is a rake that has had women from multiple countries seeking her attention. I'm pretty sure the staff in every house in the Kilmartin estate knows the rules and is paid a hefty wage for their discretion.

Basically they know how to keep their damn mouths shut. They might talk amongst themselves but that's it.

Francesca instinctively acting out her wifely duties is going to be so hilarious to me. It's like she can't help but to do things for Michaela without thinking while also managing the affairs in and out of the castle.

The staff already know Fran because of her time there before but once they see them getting close, there will be no questions as to why the Lady of the house no longer sleeps in her own room. Or why they are given the night off or asked to retire early more frequently.

No one even bats an eye when they ask for one bathtub to be drawn at the end of the day.

They know who they serve and have absolutely no problem with it. The older staff are especially pleased since they know Michaela's history and are happy to see her finally settling down with someone they already adore.
