Happy Pride, and happy Reverse Mermaid month! This is a Reverse Mermaid Pufferfish I painted, and she has a big honking crush on you...
I just finished this Guardian Eye, full of garnet chips for protection, loyalty and love! And now it's in my shop, ready to give a stern side-eye to energies that don't belong in your space...
Happy June! Enjoy a gay Baticorn! (My original has sold, but prints are available!)
I finished a small painting of Arachne, patron of spinners and the fiber arts. This is a small test run for a larger painting I want to do this summer...

Hey, this very, very bright little guy I've been working on? He's finished, at last! It was so much fun to share him with my threadpainting students. Also, the caterpillar's name is Bob...
I was having a rough week, and this was so cathartic to stitch. My favorite bits were the tiny eyeball and the bay leaf. Ya gotta have a bay leaf in the soup, you know?
I wanted something aggressively whimsical, so I stitched up Lizzy the Faerie Snail. She's totes a little wand, and she's here to grant your wishes, and then flutter into your garden to eat your kale and whatnot.
One of the many things I do is teach embroidery classes, and my thread painting class features a little fieldmouse with a dandelion. It's been fun watching the evolution of my little mice, from fuzzy brown guys, to hot pink, and now this very very orange little fellow...
A lovely brooch I just finished making in my preferred aesthetic. Which is apparently, "weird jewelry found in a cave, or maybe a nest or a tidepool somewhere, which may very well be cursed and is definitely judging me with stern looks".
This is one of my favorite altered-photograph pieces I've ever done. This man was so dapper and charming; it didn't take me long to give him a backstory and a Lovecraftian frame to match. Richard Whateley enjoys tea and books, and long walks by the seaside, and he can't wait for you to meet his family...
(He also sold, a while ago, but I do have prints if you can't resist his quiet charm.)
Some days your best eyeball needs restringing into a brand new necklace. #bogwitch #witchchores #eyeball #beadwork #gothjewelry #protectivemagic #otherworldly #amusingmiscellany #unusualart #decorativearts #necklaceforeyeball #eyeballishappynow
I had some silk floss and gold thread in my work area, and they were demanding a chance to be beautiful. So I stitched up this atropa belladonna potion bottle to soothe their cravings to be seen. Is it medicine? Is it perfume? Poison? You'll have to open the top yourself to find out...
Sometimes to relieve stress there's breathing exercises or meditations on soothing things. And sometimes to relieve stress you embroider a sigil to help repel the unwanted, heavily armed presence in your beloved city...
Teatime with a small dragon who wanted a nice hot soak...
Day dandelions, night dandelions. Because dandelions...(The little lightning bug glows in the dark.)
Often when I'm painting or embroidering, I'll have a "fun" project that I don't have to worry about. I just let things flow to where they want to be. But this glass eye demanded to be included; it so badly wanted to live in this strange, breezy teal painting. And who am I to say no? So now it's smugly snuggled into its new home, enjoying the flow of the leaves around it...
I finished up another Guardian Eye, showed it off in a group, and someone said, "beautiful work, inspiring! I'll have to make my own copy!" Oh dearie me, noooo. You can't. I scavenge the finest eyeballs from my ever-so-secretive Eyeball Seller. He doesn't show up every day; just on days where I really need a handful of fresh eyeballs for my artworks. There's a small kiosk, and the finest, shiniest, prettiest eyes are laid out on black satin for me to pick and choose. He doesn't take money, ever. Sometimes I bring fresh baked bread, sometimes a basket of hand picked berries, or a cool stone from my fancy Rock Bowl. Last time I gave him handknit gloves, and was gifted glass eyes the size of smallish plums. No eyes are as wonderful as these eyes...
