Introduction: Hoshiumi Miya is an extraterrestrial character from the planet, Trofí. Her and her family traveled to Earth in hopes of escaping the turmoil on their home planet. Despite being born there, Miya had only ever experienced life on her home planet briefly, therefore, her connection to her home planet is vague. Even so, due to health problems that stem from a synthesization error with her human form, Miya grew up on Earth very sheltered, thus leaving her without much of a connection to Earth and its humanity as well. A lot of Miya’s personal struggles–outside of her physical health–deal with feeling like she’s in limbo between her two identities.

was exploring katsumiya as roommates to fwb, but then katsuki talked to izuku about it and izuku felt like his whole world stopped and, for once, he was honest about not knowing exactly how he felt. to which katsuki egged izuku on, because he knew that look in izuku's eye, and he just wanted to hear izuku claim him, which izuku did.
so then katsuki immediately goes to miya and is just like "we can't do this anymore....also, i'll start looking for somewhere else to live". miya knew it was going to happen sooner or later, and a part of her was truly happy for katsuki because she's been encouraging him to confess for a while, but another larger part of her was devastated because she "wasn't good enough" AGAIN. which then caused her to spiral, and eventually, after a bad run in with her sister, she blew up and had a whole breakdown.
the worst part was that katsuki had invited izuku over to the apartment, as they were looking for places to live for the both of them (even though they weren't saying that part out loud, they were both heavily considering it in every option they looked at); however, the best part is that shoto was also supposed to come over, so after a failed attempt to talk to miya (he should've known that was going to happen), he called shoto up and asked him to get miya a cake or something on his way over if it wasn't too much trouble.
shoto essentially said "bet" and showed up with an assortment of pastries and other sweets from a fancy bakery that was all the rage nowadays, a bouquet of her favorite flowers, and a cute bird plushie that was perfectly huggable.
shoto already had some of the gifts prepared because this was his first time interacting with miya after the decade she had been away at uni on trofí. he was unsure about his feelings for her back in high school and whether or not he should get wrapped up in relationships or focus on being a hero, but he was ready to pursue her seriously now after making a strong name for himself (and missing her like crazy in her absence).
mind you, he doesn't know about all the other relationship shit with katsuki. and even if he did, he wouldn't really care.
anyways, shoto goes to try and get miya out of her room and she immediately comes out upon hearing him. she's so excited to see him, it was almost like she hadn't been screaming and sobbing in her room for the past half hour. shoto shares her excitement, albeit in his own shoto way, and he shows her all of the things he got for her.
miya is so grateful to shoto, and her mood really does brighten up considerably. on the sidelines, katsuki is kinda fuming because it was his idea to get her something to cheer her up, and he wanted to be the one to try and talk to her, but she wasn't budging. he mumbles something about how it was always like that with her: he'd think he had this deeper connection with miya that no one else had, then shoto would come and get all the credit for lifting her spirits and "really knowing her".
izuku kind of just rolls his eyes because "what and who the hell did katsuki actually want?" but at the same time.....he understood. he's felt the same way before, and he's pretty sure katsuki had probably felt the same way towards him as well. everything about the four of them was kind of tangled up at this point.
oh yeah, there was also a hero banquet thing going on that night, which is one of the main reasons katsuki invited his boys over. give him the courage he needed to actually get ready and go to the damn event.
they were going to ask miya, but she had been rejecting their invites for the past couple of weeks and then they thought it was a lost cause after she came home distressed; however, shoto presented an entire outfit for her and asked if she'd like to go (and gave her an alternate plan of them getting dinner together if she didn't want to go), but miya accepted the invite in a heartbeat, which pissed katsuki off further.
again, he really should've seen miya semi-subtly shutting him out coming (although, she had also been really busy with work, so it wasn't really all about him).
in the end, shoto told katsuki & izuku to go ahead to the event and they'd catch up maybe. and if their plans changed, he'd let them know. katsuki begrudgingly got the hint and he and izuku quickly finished getting ready before heading out.
nothing happens between shoto and miya here, maybe shoto being a little swoon-worthy and gentlemanly, but he's ultimately considerate of her fragile state of mind at the moment. wanting to ensure that she just has a great night where she feels appreciated and valued and etc.
i love how natsu specifically says play here instead of something like "spend time with", because it makes me think about how one of the core happy memories we see of the siblings is them playing outside in the courtyard. even in "you're next", shoto's dream involved finally being able to play with his siblings, too.
and then there's the emphasis on food, too. whether it's us, as readers, seeing them having a meal or talking about their favorite foods.
just....the overall desire to know each other and spend time together, sharing joyous moments like a regular family. ugh i'm SICK!!!!
i dont mean to woobify hawks, but now that i've remembered that he's only 22, my whole perspective changed. everytime i see him, it's just like "yeah, that's a baby" lmao, but i also think it's just the unfortunate framing of him being next to endeavor's huge, old ass.
