Was it the pulse beneath your skin that made you human ?

Nur pressed his fingers to the pulse point on his neck. He felt it move.

That wasn’t it.

Nur still didn’t feel human.

No human could live through a stab wound to the heart.

No human could take a claw to the neck.

No human could continue to breathe after being drowned.

No human would’ve lived after venom was injected into their veins.

No humans could breathe in poisons that could kill a full grown man and keep living.

No human could’ve survived a fall into the Underworld.

No human could’ve taken being killed, again and again and again and again and again and again and again-

Nur couldn’t breathe.

They couldn’t-

“Nur…?”

Nur stopped, breaths coming fast now.

“Grim…”

Nur yanked the direbeast into their hold, ignoring the sudden yelp.

Dream ? Definitely not.

Grim huffed, curling around Nur’s arm like it was his personal pillow.
