Hot Metal Bridge Magazine is currently accepting submissions for their Spring 2015 issue.
Nonfiction: We’re calling for your best, unpublished true stories in any form from traditional memoir and literary journalism to lyric essays and the unexpected. Our favorite stories have a strong, compelling narrative that looks beyond a personal experience for some universal truth or meaning. Entries should be between 500 and 5,000 words and should be submitted via Submittable as a Word attachment.
Fiction: We are interested in aesthetically and emotionally beautiful works, that search for a deeper truth in the human experience. We love seeing stories set in the Pittsburgh/Applachian region, but we are always open to any thoughtful, well-crafted work that comes our way. The word limit is 8,000 words, and we only publish previously unpublished stories. Simultaneous submissions are fine, as long as you withdraw your work as soon as you know it is accepted somewhere else.
Poetry: We want your best work—be it hybrid, visual, slam, multi-media, performance, or just plain poetry on the page. For this issue, we are especially encouraging all non-male identified writers to submit (that is: women, transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, etc.).
Please include a short bio with your submission of up to five poems. We look forward to reading your work.
Photo/Art: Hot Metal Bridge welcomes compelling art (including video) and photography submissions in any standard format. Please limit your submissions to no more than eight images and/or two videos per submission cycle. Be sure to title your work and save your files in the following format: Lastname_Title_Spring2015.
The current submission period will close on April 1, and responses to work submitted now may be expected by mid-May.
