Fishy love | Lanna & Komari

Komari was walking home from one of her jobs, it seemed like that’s all she does recently. The sun was setting on the Leudan shore- and suddenly the girl stops right in her tracks as she had seen the most ....conventionally absurd thing she’s ever seen? A ....beautiful girl, looking like one of those dolls back at home- fishing? Whose to say that girls can’t fish, ( Your father, that’s who.) especially out in style! The brown haired girl couldn’t believe her eyes. Of course, you should never judge a book by it’s cover. Anybody is capable of doing such a thing no matter what gender or size and--- “Woaaa!!” Komari exclaimed as she saw the woman reel in the biggest fish she’s ever seen! It also looked simply harrowing too. 

Oh wait. It was rude to stare. Quickly, the brunette tried to look away to avoid eye contact.  Or any random conversation....but it was too late. She was the only other person on this pier.

Turnabout ケーキ | Komari & Katie

Stretching her arms out and over her head, Komari quietly laughs out loud to herself. Laughter, is one thing that gets your endorphins going--and that’s what she does to lift her spirits to feel somewhat alive. Of course, someone may think of her as a madman for chuckling to her lonesome, but she had a reason to laugh. And it was because she couldn’t help but think about the weird cake they had on display earlier. Like, who the heck decorated that? It was charming in its own right but ...there was something off about it. A face? If the waitress herself was a fan of cakes, she’d buy it just to be nice- unfortunately (or fortunately, perhaps?) it disappeared. Where to? Hopefully not in the trash. It’d be a waste. There’s starving children out there, ya know. Finishing up her duties for the end of her shift, Komari grabs her bag and belongings in the break room and notices her coworker, Katie. The girl didn’t know her so much, but she definitely looked lively and cute, much like the dolls she had seen her mother bring back home from travels. Those little ringlets, the bright eyes- wow-- what a princess!  If only, I could pass off half as cute as that. Then my dad could finally shut up and say I’m girly enough. Being friendly, Komari waves at her coworker. “Ah!  Heya Katie! How you doin’?”

...Should I even be going to this kind of thing? Komari asked herself, as she felt uncomfortable in her dress, laughing nervously. She spent longer than normal in debating what to wear to this event. In fact, the girl spent even longer just debating whether should she stay alone at the comforts of her home (Well, for what’s it worth, anyways.) or even bother to doll up and participate. Believe it or not, Komari was quite the tom boy, and preferred to just wear comfortable clothing. The fact she even bothered to try on a dress for some dance would only make her father jump up with glee and-- Well, he’s not here right now to tell her what to do. In fact, she should had arrived here in a suit! But, nonetheless- she missed him alright. Feeling a tad bit guilty for ignoring him for father’s day....hopefully he wasn’t too worried. Hopefully he was taking care of himself. 

Again, another moment where Komari is ridden with guilt with her life choices. If her mom could see the world, why can’t she? Honestly, to tell the truth- Komari felt like she was just making a horrible mistake by following along with the crowds. But who knows, maybe something good might come of it for trying something new? She drinks the potion, down the hatch it goes.

“Whaa---?!” Something....wasn’t right. It wasn’t her height or anything, and her looks didn’t drastically change-- but...but...what’s going on? Oh no. Oh no. I think I’ve made a terrible mistake!  Slapping her cheeks, Komari snaps out of it. So who cares if she’s....a teen again! This time, she can go out and do what she wants! Pumping herself up, the teen leaves the dressing room- trying to pull off the biggest smiles she can muster. Just act natural, you got this! But due to feeling a tad bit more rebellious.....the girl decided to place her name on the king’s ballot.

Komari dusted off her hands, after setting up a few tables nicely at Chagall Cafe. Sure, it was quite different in comparison in how her father had done it- but the waitress was getting used to this style. Honestly, it was quite fun when she thought about it. Trying something new. Even if it wasn’t that much different in the end. She walked on over to greet a few customers, took some notes and wrote down their orders as the girl headed off to the back to wash her hands quickly before she returned to them with some beverages. Humming to herself, the waitress heads out of the kitchen and notices another customer entering the front door. Another bright smile. “Welcome! I’ll be with ya shortly! Please feel free to have a seat where ever you want!” Quickly, she places the drinks down to the customers and makes her way over to the man. Pulling out her pen and paper, ready to write down their needs. “Hello! Name’s Komari, I’ll be your server today-- how can I help ya!”

[ -2,000g ] Trip to Leuda

Hinata wasn’t certain how long had passed since his last meeting with Komari, though the letters that had piled up since their parting seemed to suggest it had simply been far too long without a visit. Sinfully overdue, in fact. Gifts, pages upon pages of letters, all detailing rather mundane instances in their lives: their careers, friendships, and not a single mention of when they would see one another again… well, Hinata would just have to take matters into his own hands, it seemed.

Without offering a proper warning to Komari, what would have been his day off from work was turned in favour of a trip to Leuda, scrounging up the little bit of pocket change that he had to see her. ( The wage of a struggling actor didn’t pay for much, but he figured it would be worth it, even if it were only to see her for an hour or two. ) 

❛  Aha …  there she is.  ❜  his features lit up as he walked into Chagall Café and immediately caught a glimpse of Komari’s silhouette, unable to hold back the grin that pulled at the corners of his mouth. It appeared, by the rising moon outside and distinct absence of customers in the dining area, that Hinata had arrived almost exactly at closing time— cutting it close, wasn’t he?

❛  Yo, Komari !  I’m glad I didn’t miss you.  ❜  Hinata folded his arms against his chest, carefully hiding the little bento box he’d brought along with him against his chest. ❛  Are ya closin’ up for the day ?  I was hoping I could steal a little bit of your evening, once you’re done.  ❜

“Thank ya! Come again!”  Komari flashed a smile to a customer as they left the establishment. It came rather easy for the girl, to appear as if she were living- especially whenever it came down to work. She used to do it back home, at her father’s restaurant- serving customers and family friends in her day to day life. Even moving all the way to Leuda, sometimes...things still felt quite the same. And maybe... it wasn’t a bad thing. A sense of repetition and familiarity does bring one ease. Even though, she couldn’t help but think about her life before. And at times...she quite missed it. Home. Her father, the people back at town. The way the streets looked at night, the koi fish in the pools of water. How the grass sways, home. And the waitress wanted to return back to it so much. Except...she had her reasons for running off- to find herself out, who she really is. To have a reason for her mother to anchor herself back there with her father. No more being compared to her mother at work no longer! No more petty little arguments about how she’s not this enough, that enough-- Oh Komari, don’t cha think you’re pondering a bit too hard?  She scrubs down a table with a bit of elbow grease, with her brows slightly furrowed deep in thought. Then suddenly, it softened once the young woman had heard the bell chimes of somebody entering the door. Again, she puts on her biggest smile. This time, with teeth. “Welcome!~” Her rag slips out her hand as she notices who it was. “Hina?!” Komari let’s out a little gasp, and for a moment even considers giving her old friend a warm embrace. Almost. But this time, her grins were most genuine. Hands placed on her hips, in a warmer tone of voice, warmer than the greeting before:

“It’s so nice to see ya! How’s it been!? Oh! um!” Upon asking her that question, the waitress tapped a finger under her chin to debate if she had any plans for the night. “Well...” Are you kiddin’ Komari? You never have anything to do! “ I suppose-- we could hang out for a bit! I should be finished in a few, do you mind waitin’ a bit longer?” Dipping down, the waitress picked up the rag off the floor. “It won’t take too long.”

Koma-Alert || Komari and Antoinette

While Antoinette had hoped that taking volleyball this year might get her out of the actual hell that was jogging around in these stupid gym uniforms, it had turned out that their teacher had other ideas–on some trail tiny, wooded trail no less. She might not have been happy about this, but Antoinette had always been of the belief that if you’re going to do anything, you had better do it right. So nary a complaint was heard from the blue haired princess each day as she changed and as she stretched. Over the school year thus far, she had gone from running with no form and trailing far behind, winded before they’d made real progress to comfortably keeping up.

Despite her progress, mistakes still happened–today, for example, Antoinette had been so fixated on propelling herself forward and to the front of the crowd (because, whether the teacher admitted it or not, Antoinette saw this as a race) that she hadn’t paid attention to the obstacles on the ground in front of her and managed to get her foot tangled up in a root, sending her crashing down to the ground with a yelp as she skidded her knees and palms against the pebbles and twigs littering the ground and smeared dirt across her front.

Most of her classmates didn’t spare her so much as a glance as she attempted to pull her foot free, but she only froze in shock when a pair of girls actually laughed at her. Caught off guard, Antoinette’s features softened and slackened in surprise. Tears pricking at the corners of her eyes, she gritted her teeth and took a deep breath before forcefully yanking her foot out from the root with a sharp, hissing inhale of pain.

Even then, she was at another impasse–even touching her foot to the ground left her ankle throbbing and tears welling and it was when Antoinette was considering the implications (was she going to have to just sit here and wait until–if she did at all–their teacher noticed she was missing from class and sent someone to get her? What then?) when she heard approaching footsteps.

She sniffed harshly, hurrying to wipe at her eyes before the girl could catch her.

“Don’t you have better things to do than gawk?” Antoinette snapped, expecting nothing but more laughter

Running for some reason, never had felt so liberating before. Komari wasn’t someone who was particularly fast to take a prize home or anything, nor she wasn’t too far behind in the tail end of the crowd- but the sensation of the crisp, autumn breeze flowing through her hair made the brunette appreciate the little things of the moment. It had been a rough past few days for the girl, thinking back to that party the weekend before. Never in her life she thought she would succumb to peer pressure, but as with all teenagers-  it’s fairly easy to try your best to fit in. (Although in the end, it blew up in her face and just....felt like a failure.) Thankfully- after much needed time wallowing up in her dormitory the past few days- Komari felt like she could try again.  After all, it’s her father whose working so hard to pay for her tuition in school. Though some days, it gets harder and harder to find a reason to get out of bed. At least this scenery is nice, a different change of things. Until the girl noticed a couple of girls laughing in the distance, Komari wondered just what- or why anything was funny in the first place. Perhaps a cute animal? Though the tone didn’t come off as-- Seriously? There was her classmate, on the ground-- and those girls just....laughed at her? If Komari were faster to reach those girls in time, she would be yelling at them and tell them off. What bitches. Ugh. She reaches over to the girl- who was someone looked rather familiar-- Oh. Right. The party, girl who was recording and..- and stops for a moment to hear her icy words. Taken aback, Komari still continued to see if Antoinette ( I think that’s her name..) wasn’t hurt. “No...” She starts with a tone of concern for the girl, kneeling down beside her on one knee. “I just noticed some girls were laughin’ which was mighty awful and rude of ‘em --and --and --well you were on the ground and so I.... wanted to see if you’re okay.”  Komari observes her leg, and notices it twitching.  “ Can you stand?”

Have You Eaten? | Komari & Maya

Hehe. The lady doth protest too much. Maya immediately recognized the soft grumble that travelled through the room; she heard it enough times from her own stomach not to. And there was no worse feeling than feeling hungry. Shaking her head, Maya placed one hand on Komari’s shoulder and prepared to impart some Clementine wisdom.

“It’s better for us to listen to our bodies~” she said. “When you’re hungry, you should eat!” A wide grin settled on her features. Sometimes she worried that the kids didn’t get enough nourishment. Maya saw the cafeteria food… those meals were so sad they were enough to make her want to cry. Nourishment was more than just kids getting their daily calories–They needed nourishment of the mind and soul! If Komari was skipping classes, who knew what else she was skipping? Dinners? Lunches? Breakfasts?

Maybe Komari needed someone to talk to. Maybe she needed some advice. But before all that, Maya knew there was one thing Komari needed for sure: some good ‘ol fashioned home-cooked lovin’.

“C’mon, I have something I want you to try.” She moved behind her and grabbed her by both shoulders, walking her further into the kitchen. When they arrived at a table with a foil-covered pan, Maya released her and gave a wink.

“This is one of my favorite dishes ever~” Especially when she was feeling down. Maya took the edge of the foil and lifted it off with a flourish. Beneath laid golden-crusted–

“Banana bread!” Maya said. “I made it myself. You’ll be the first person to try it. ♡”

It was rather embarrassing for the girl to have someone hear her stomach roar like a lion, but if there had to be anyone in the school she’d be alright with them hearing it- it’d be Miss Clementine.  She was always so sweet and caring, and somehow filled a specific void Komari couldn’t place a finger on. Motherly? Though it was strange to think of that with someone who is basically the same height as her. And well, Maya looked like she really could be Komari’s age really. “Eh?!” Komari blinked in surprise as she was pretty much drawn back into the classroom, so much for going back to her room to catch more z’s. For a cooking instructor, you’d be surprised that the girl never actually tried her cooking before. Perhaps it wasn’t necessary in all honesty, for the cooking the students get to eat was each others. They weren’t really graded for eating Miss Clementines, y’know? The student couldn’t help but smile by her teacher’s kind gesture.”Are ya sure? I don’t know if I deserve the honors of taking the first bite, haha” Considerin’ I’ve been skipping classes. “ But thank ya, that’s awfully kind of ya!” Komari looked at the bread, and slowly reached out for a small slice of it and placed it into her mouth. It tasted-- it was--- “!!!”

HELLS KITCHEN||Chase &Komari

“Hah…” Chase mocked. 

He wasn’t in the mood to fool around with this sarcastic smart ass. He watched as she sat down and chose to look at a ladle. Unbelievable. She was just idly looking at things as if they had all the time in the world. Hasn’t she ever heard the phrase “Time is money”? Slackers.

He turned to begin working and was only half listening to what she was saying. Was it relevant? Probably not. She said something about her types of dishes and him not being able to take it. To be fair, Chase rarely ate anything if it wasn’t made by him. 

He turned to make her watch the dissolving sugar but she was talking..Again. Ugh. They would be working together for a week? Too long. He raised a brow at her. She was assigned to him and she didn’t even know his name. Rude.

“Chase. Didn’t Miss Clementine tell you who I was? Or did that mercury from all that fish you were eating go to your head?” he rolled his eyes, “I’m kidding, obviously.”

What. An Asshole.  If the teacher wasn’t about six feet away from the two, Komari would had just decided to teach this jackass a lesson. Seriously? This Chase was someone with a bad attitude, and perhaps low key racist. Or so, Komari thought by his mercury statement. He might not be, but it was a rough start already. “Well it’s wonderful to meetcha, Chase.” Her words were like daggers to that statement, as she icily added along to his retort. The girl already dreaded the next hour already. And wanted to talk to Miss Clementine about just w h y she was paired up with someone as troublesome as this guy? Maybe he’s not so bad, but it’s hard to look on the bright side of things when you’re paired up with someone you barely met and he’s causing issues already. “So....whatcha makin’?”

Brownie Points || Lyla & Komari

Komari should be used to these Wednesday meetings where she’ll find one of her favorite teachers in the hallway on her way to Volleyball, allowing the two of them to have a short moment to strike up conversation… A conversation that will be tied with a small surprise that the other girl should hopefully enjoy! Doing things like this for her students (both old and new) always put a smile on her face, so it was kinda like doing two good deeds at once in a sense with the way she made both parties pretty happy.

After stepping into the designated hallway, the pink-haired teacher stopped in her tracks and looked both ways in search of the cute student. It wasn’t long before her eyes met with a pair of familiar ones across the way– “Komari!!!” she called out, waving her free arm side-to-side to bring attention to herself.

“I’ve got something for you in case you’re hungry, hehe… I made them myself too!” Lyla held up a small Tupperware bowl filled with a couple of brownies, she thought this should be enough to get Komari through the rest of the afternoon without any troubles. “Go on and try one now if you want, let me know if you like them~♡”

The student held out her plaid covered phone, taking a glance at it to return a few texts before she headed off to Volleyball. But one of her favorite parts prior to heading there was seeing one of her favorite teachers from prior years before, Miss Florence. To Komari, she had always admired the grace and beauty of her dear teacher and had hopes that one day, she too could be as half lovely as she was. Not that the brunette thought being so radiant like Lyla was even remotely possible. For she possessed this unique kind of unetheral atmosphere about her, in which somehow if you were to be ever so close to her– you suddenly felt warmth. And for Komari, perhaps it is something she needs. These past few weeks have been nothing but dreary and dull- going through her day by day routine as if nothing ever changes. What a sad thought. But she tells no one the matter just yet. Komari blinked when she heard her name called out. She then surveyed the area in which the direction of voice came from. “Oh Miss Florence! “ She scurried over  with a light jog, doing her best to not have her friend ( Komari considered her like one, in a way) wait any longer. Once she reached the pink-haired beauty, Komari took a moment to catch her breath. Bewildered once again by this lady.

“You…made these?” Komari was caught off guard by this act of kindness. Naturally she took it with the utmost gratitude, grinning from ear to ear. “Thanks! This is so kind of ya to do! “ The girl grabbed a piece of the brownie out to have a little taste. It was….kind of sweet? With a hint of salt. “This is suure really delicious Miss Florence! You really did such a good job with these! I’m sure you’ll make a wonderful wife one day! “ No seriously, if Komari was a man herself (and older, too) she would loved to have to be with someone like Lyla everyday.

“So my sources just contacted me today… he he.” Phone to her lips, Frey smiled ever so mischievously and bumped Komari by the hip. “The shop I go to for cute shirts is having a sale! A one time, big time sale! And you know what that means…”

The cheerleader looked around just in case there were teachers or other students that can hear her. As a tattletale herself, she was wary of other people doing the same and putting her in trouble all because of a teensy tiny rule break. 

Whispering now, Frey relayed the proposal to Komari in a super sneak and totally not suspicious manner. Aka hands cup together near her mouth as she tiptoed to speak near her ear, “I’m going to sneak out right now to check out sale. Wanna come?”

Of course, she doesn’t want to drag Komari into too much trouble all for silly mushroom shirts so she has to make sure they both come back as fast as they can… before curfew! That’s the limit for Frey Valor’s misadventures.  “It’s where I got this shirt~♥ We won’t take long, I swear!”

Komari actually really enjoyed whenever Frey was mischievous, for it always meant for something fun and exciting to do. And truly, Komari has been kind of down recently- so this feeling gave her a sense of adventure that she rather needed indefinitely. She leaned over her ear, so it was easier to hear what she had to say. Her eyes widened and was bewildered at the surprise. Sneaking out? Oh my! It definitely sounds exciting, and fun indeed. So naturally, with all grins the brunette responded with a :

“Yeeeeees! Of course!” 

Truly, this was going to be the most exciting thing that’s been going on all week! The thrill of possibly getting caught really does get one’s gears going.But when you succeed, it’s all worth it.

“Alright, alright, alright. I believe ya, so let’s go! Lead the way!” Komari eagerly begun to follow the cheer captain in whatever direction she was heading off to.
