If you think "Baby, it's cold outside" is a rape anthem then please just admit you know nothing about American history, American social etiquette history, or anything about the song or the time it was written at all.
Let's also remember there were two versions of the song originally. One with a man singing to a woman and the other with a woman singing to a man.
The song, when it was originally written, was a pearl clutching story about a couple making up excuses to spend the night together. They were making a personal choice about their sex life during a time when it was frowned upon to do so. The woman says multiple times that she should do something but yes it is really cold out. She even makes it blatantly clear she wants to stay with him here: "I ought to say, no, no, no sir, At least I'm gonna say that I tried" because at the time she was socially required to say no even if she wanted the advances.
Please just stop with your crazy rad fem rhetoric about how he's coercing her and deceiving her. If you were so concerned about rape anthems and songs lost of the over sexualized bullshit that comes out today should be banned...but wait, women can do what they want with their bodies? So that makes modern songs ok? But when a women in the 40's does it it's a rape anthem?
