WEIRD BUG MENTION!!! HUZZAH!! [Cw: mild gore. Desecration of a corpse.]
They find you in what is probably one of the worst situations to be in. Kyle remembers it clear as day.
They were supposed to be clearing out a drug smuggling base, having tracked it after a terrorist attack left eighty-two hybrids in the hospital, critical condition. Thick into humid forests, it was clear something wasnt right.
The base had no gaurds posted, no trucks moving in or out, no signs of life. Gaz was right alongside ghost when he gave the okay to breach. Thick, noxious air washed over kyle as the doors broke open, decomposition heavy in the air.
Dead bodies. The smugglers had already been attacked. Later, they would find evidence of a rival trades group, but right now they needed to clear the base.
"This doesnt make sense, L.t," soap muttered over comms, working his way through a side building with price, "they were shot, aye? Clean, efficient. If they wanted to send a message it would've been carnage."
Kyle kicked aside a body leaning against the door, poor bastard was shot in the head. One of his arms was missing, post mortem. "But alot of these guys are...missing parts. Removed at least a day afterwards, right?"
Ghost hummed from his position a bit further down the hall. "Affirm. Its odd, stay alert."
Gaz followed, watching ghost duck into a room filled with cages. The majority of the bodies were in here, most of them torn apart. Ghost is going around checking the cages and kicking parts out of the way. Its disgusting, blood and puss coats the floor. Gaz stands by the doorway.
Its dark in the room, just like in the rest of the base. Ghost is about to nod to gaz to move on when he kicks another limb and it fucking hisses at him.
He and gaz freeze. Dead silent.
The thing continues to hiss, and ghost slowly backs away. Gaz grabs a light and turns it onto the hissing pile, swallowing down the sick feeling that rises- ghost grabs his comms "we've got a live one, captain. Kid, maybe...nineteen?"
Its hard to tell exactly what you are beyond a pile of limbs. Silent as ghost leans down to shine the light over you. Your eyes seem both distant and intensely focused on him. "Hey, kid, do you understand me? We're here to help, okay?"
Kyle has never heard ghost speak this softly before, muttering into his comms to tell price where they are. He doesnt hear alot of what ghost says, stepping out to give price a brief on what he saw, soap sweeping the rest of the base.
When ghost steps out, its with you. Tentatively holding his gloved hand in yours. Gaz can hear the sharp intake of breath from price when he sees you. Shorter than ghost, younger than any of them, but beyond that its hard to decipher. What with the way peices of bodies have been affixed to you with thick threads of silk. Suddenly all those mutilated corpses make sense.
Ghost nods to price, then towards the exit "we should leave, captain. Kids a hybrid of some sort, could've been used to test that shit from the attacks."
They do, loading you onto a boat and glaring at anyone who dares to grimace at you. They dont comment on the parts, and they dont attempt to remove them. The entire time you cling to ghosts side, eyes wide and silent as sea water splashes around them.
Ghost occasionally leans down whisper in your ear, but otherwise lets you cling. Hes unbothered by the gore, and not for the first time his team is reminded of exactly why so many people are wary of him.
