Recovery: A Three Step Process [SoF Open!]
âOh donât worry, all you need to do is follow my movements, all right? Â If you can do that, youâll be okay.â
-It wasnât like Yomi planned to beat her senseless with the shinai, so it was a good thing she reassured the other, just in case she had the wrong idea. Â In any case, after that, her posture changed, entering a combative stance, before lowering her head to the other in a form of respect.-
âEither way, my name is Yomi. Â Yomi Isayama. Â Now, are you ready?â
-There was a pause, long enough for her counterpart to introduce themselves, and prepare accordingly. Â When this was done, Yomi would hop a step forward, bringing the shinai down vertically.-
âBegin!â
Mokou almost forgets to bow; she hasn't been in a formal match for as long as she can remember. "Fujiwara no Mokou," she introduces herself, lifting her bokken.
"Begin!"
Mokou, sidesteps to the left, very narrowly dodges the shinai coming down on her, then dashes forward, wooden sword flashing quickly towards Isayama's left.
Divergence Unknown
His eyes slowly narrow. Her responses lack what he would expect from an Organization AgentâŚÂ
âChances are, sheâs but an innocent bystanderâŚwith the terrible luck to happen upon me. I must use this to my advantageâŚ.â
âFujiwara no Mokou-sanâŚâ He leans back, looking her over. âIt seems I have lost my way and am currently in need of your assistance.â Better to let her think he was helplessâ which he most definitely was not.
A scrutinizing stare directed at her, before the man leans back.
Mokou still can't figure out how she should deal with him, though.
He asks her for help, something she could understand, thankfully. "Um, sure. Where did you need to go? If it's somewhere in the school, I might be able to help."
Recovery: A Three Step Process [SoF Open!]
âSure. Â I donât mind. Â Itâll take my mind off of things.â
-Yomi felt confident enough that her injuries wouldnât be that big of an issue if the object of the spar was shinai-to-shinai combat. Â The whole point of using them was to test skill levels and reaction times. Â Both of these concepts were well within even an injured warriorâs grasp. Â During the pause, Yomi wiped her forehead and let out a sigh.-
ââŚI havenât seen you around before.  You wouldnât happen to be in one of the other swordsmanship classes would you?â
Mokou gives a small smile and takes a bokken. A small match ought to clear her mind, too.
ââŚI havenât seen you around before.  You wouldnât happen to be in one of the other swordsmanship classes would you?â
"Oh, I'm not. I was just looking around," Mokou replies to her question as she goes into stance. "Swordsmen who willingly chose to be swordsmen usually have something about them that I find interesting."
The wooden sword in her hand... although she can remember what she should do and knows very well how people with swords fight and how to fight with one, it's been so long since she's held a weapon. It's as if she's forgotten; having a sword in her hand, although wooden, didn't feel familiar to her at all.
"I haven't done this in a long time, so I have no idea how I'll do. Go easy on me, okay?"
Even then, Mokou still has more than a millennia worth of battle experience, so perhaps one shouldn't go too easy on her.
keine
[ Although mun's OTP is Mokou x Kaguya, Mokou x Keine happens before it.
Keine is very precious to Mokou. She's probably Mokou's first friend and only friend for a long time. (Mokou's relationship with Kaguya can be considered as some sort of twisted friendship, but that's another story.) Of course, according to OTP rules, it goes past friendship. And then the romantically painful inevitability of immortality strikes.
From Mokou's app:
In a desire for a change of pace after an event that was to be expected for an immortal like her, Mokou set off to study in Tancho Academy, although she had no idea what to expect from it.
"... to be expected for an immortal like her..."
It could mean Keine has passed away, although it's vague on purpose, just in case Keine appears in SoF hahaha. ]
skirts
[ Mokou used to wear some very far back in the past (well, more like traditional aristocratic Japanese princess clothes), but has gotten so used to wearing pants for most of long life that skirts just feel weird. ]

Recovery: A Three Step Process [SoF Open!]
-It was silly to think the dojo would remain empty for long; this was a public facility available to anyone in Tancho that had the flair to learn the ways of the sword. Â Yomi carried on for a bit more as if pretending not to notice the new presence, but truth be told, she had picked up on footsteps behind her and was quite aware of what was going on. Â After a few more swings, Yomi stared at the shinai in her hand before glancing over her shoulder.-
âIâm sorry, did you want to use the mat? Â I wonât be much longer.â
-Yomi didnât recognize the face as one of her classmates in Swordsmanship, nor did she see them at the last Kendo Club meeting. Â Perhaps it was a curious student only, nothing to worry about.-
Mokou was idly wondering whether she should light a smoke or not in the dojo when the girl called on her.
"Oh, no. Sorry. I was just watching. I hope that's not a problem."
Then she scratches her cheek, thinking. Watching the skilled girl strike at nothing but air made her feel like taking up a sword. It's been so long since she last used one, after all.
Maybe more than a thousand years; she's given up on counting. She stopped using weapons in general ever since she learned to control the flames she was given.
"On second thought, are you up for a light spar?" Just a light one, so as to not push the girl's injury.
Recovery: A Three Step Process [SoF Open!]
-Gauze was dropped at the foot of the training mat, as Yomi tested the flexibility of her left arm. Â Though her most recent wounds had begun the healing process, she was incapable of sitting idly for long. Â There were things she needed to do, one of which was recover as quickly as humanly possible. Â With all the activity in the past few days, Yomi couldnât very well do nothing if things took a turn for the worst.-
-Her personal effects, including Shishio, had been placed on the corner of the room, while she wielded a shinai. Â It felt good, holding something durable in her hands, even if it was primarily made of wood. Â Yomi then let out a deep breath, putting her focus into the shinai as if it was an extension of herself, and closed her eyes. Â What followed afterwards was a succession of swings. Â It seemed to be going well, but near the tenth swing, Yomi felt a surge of pain on her left side. Â She stopped, touching her shoulder with her right hand.-
âStill hurtsâŚâ
-It seemed like Yomi wasnât out of the woods just yet.-
Mokou, out of a whim, decided to check out the dojo, to see how the swordsmanship classes are going. There's always something about people who willingly choose to wield a sword.
She isn't in a position where she should care, though. In fact, she should be in class.
There's someone in the dojo, practicing, a gauze on the training mat, not far from her. She's obviously skilled, but her not-quite-healed injury seems to be limiting what she can do.
There's nothing someone like Mokou could do to help her though, so she just watches in silence.
"Human, huh?
"Well, humanity's in the heart--but don't listen to me. It's just something I heard."
Divergence Unknown
He stared at the Girl of Few Words, feeling as though Mayuri had just announced her pocket watch had stopped working again. Her answer dampens his spirits. If he canât go back to the labâŚthenâŚwhat is he supposed to do?
He quickly reaches for his phone and holds it up to his ear, voice trembling.
âThe situation has changed drastically. It seems Iâm strandedâŚIâm not sure for how longâŚ! The Agency must have drugged me and brought me out here!â He began to quickly pace circles around the Woman Who Must Think Him Mad, But Thatâs Okay Because He IsâŚ
He suddenly stopped, leaning in real close to herâŚ
âCould it beâŚ.that youâve brought me here, Fujiwara no Mokou-san?!âÂ
He's... talking? to his phone again. It sure sounds like he isn't exactly in a position to be happy about, though. Maybe not a position to be acting crazy either, but Mokou couldn't really understand him.
She still doesn't know what the Agency was--wait wasn't it the Organization?
Now she's just confused.
She's lived for such a long time, why couldn't she have met someone similar to a person like this guy? She'd at least know what to say!
He leans in close to Mokou, who draws back, nervous and bewiledered.
"Y-yes?"
âCould it beâŚ.that youâve brought me here, Fujiwara no Mokou-san?!âÂ
A few moments of silence as Mokou tries to decipher it.
That question makes even less sense.
"I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about," she finally says. "Is everything all right?"
Practice [Open]
Jinora sat back down, setting her staff at her feet. Her hair had barely gone askew; she had gotten good at airbending in such a way that it wouldnât disturb her short locks.
âWhy?â She mused. âMostly⌠I want to practice sparring. There are only a few airbenders where I come from, so weâre supposed to avoid conflict with other benders, since it could turn out badly for us. But thatâs exactly why I want to learn to fight.â
âI want to be able to choose my own path, no matter where it takes me.â And the only way she could do that was by knowing how to defend herself, as well as others
"Maybe you'll find some more airbenders here," Mokou says. Tancho Academy is a place for all kinds of people, after all. It wouldn't be unusual to find someone who can maniupulate air the same way this girl does.
âI want to be able to choose my own path, no matter where it takes me.â
Mokou smiles at the girl, thinking of her determination as admirable.
"Then, would you like to spar with me?" she offers, briefly wondering if it's a good idea. Mokou doesn't want to hurt the girl, but that's part of learning to defend one's self.
Well, it can't be too bad as long as Mokou's careful enough.
"By the way, what's your name?"
Divergence Unknown
He narrows his eyes, âA high school?â He looked down at himself again and scrunched up his nose.
âIs this some kind of fancy rich school?â
He graduated alreadyâŚjust how much had he screwed up to put himself back in high school? He didnât really feel any younger eitherâŚCould this be another weird experiment using Daruâs eroge as a setting?! And if soâ did that make this Mokou girl one of his targets? If so, he hoped she wasnât a yandereâŚÂ
He scratched his chin. Still stubbly. Good. At least that much was the same. Now all he needed was a labcoat! He had to get back to the labâ
The lab. Of course.
He looked back at Mokou. He was definitely still in Japan, at the very least, butâŚ
âSayâŚyou wouldnât happen to know how far Akihabara is from here, would you?â
A fancy rich school? "Kind of." Really rich school. Very few of the students are ordinary people, too, so maybe it is more than just some ordinary private high school.
And if soâ did that make this Mokou girl one of his targets? If so, he hoped she wasnât a yandereâŚÂ
Just a feeling, but Mokou feels as though someone just said something bad about her. She furrows her eyebrows and gives a small frown.
The man scratches his stubbly chin. Come to think of it, he does look too old for high school, but Mokou isn't one to talk about that.
He looks back to Mokou.
âSayâŚyou wouldnât happen to know how far Akihabara is from here, would you?â
Akihabara...
"Um... very far?" Mokou isn't too familiar with modern Japan's new geography, unfortunately.
Mokou's cutting class, SoF open (intro)
âI see..?â Either way, she couldnât see how the small paper stick was so addictive! Or why someone would even want to use itâthen again, that could be hypocritical of her, since she was asking to try one out. It was a harmless little thing, she thought. It wouldnât make a difference, or it wouldnât even hurt if she just tried a little bit.Â
Utsuho took the cigarette from the girl, and looked it over. Yes, certainly harmless. It was paperâŚand something else that was in it that she couldnât quite identify. Oh.
âFire, huh? I donât have thatâŚâ Maybe she should have thought this one through, but maybe since the other had one, they had fire! âDo you have fire?â
Fire? Mokou has fire.
"Um, sure." She snaps her fingers, and a small flame briefly lights up on the cigarette's tip before disappearing.
"You might not like it," Mokou adds, warning the bird youkai before she puts the unhealthy thing on her mouth.
Practice [Open]
Jinora stared at the flame in fascination. She greatly enjoyed watching benders of the other three elements⌠perhaps it was because air was so⌠natural for her, that she saw her own skills as ordinary, in a way.Â
Regardless, she nodded. âAlright, hold onâŚâ Drawing out her glider, she took a few steps forward. Holding it in front of her like a staff, she began swinging it in rhythm, like a set of wings. Before too much time had passed, a small tornado had surrounded her.
âOops.â She plugged her ears and waited for the dust to settle. âThat got out of hand. But thatâs airbending.â
Mokou claps her hands. "Impressive."
It's certainly a different kind of manipulation than how mages do it. Somewhat like amplifying martial arts with control of the elements... no, controlling the elements with martial arts. That's what it looks to her, at least.
If that was true, then Mokou isn't quite a firebender, although she can pass off as one.
Bending, is it?
"So, why were you looking for benders?"
Divergence Unknown
His laugh slowly comes to a stop. He looks smugly at the female in front of him and repeats in japanese.
âCrazy. Mad. Scientist,â he chuckles darkly. She looked like a fun one.
He figures itâs about time heâs gotten some information as to his whereabouts.
âMokou-sanâŚThis placeâŚ.This,â he picked up his discarded wallet and frowned at the ID card, âTancho AcademyâŚWhat kind of place is it?â
âI must acquire more information as to my whereabouts if I am to defeat the OrganizationâŚI must test this âFujiwara no MokouââŚCould she truly be an agent of the Organization? Or perhapsâŚ.a possible ally?â
Amaterasu help her.
Crazy mad scientist? Eirin's face quickly pops up in Mokou's mind, but she dismisses it quickly. It's a good thing for her that the man didn't seem too interested in holding that conversation though, as he then asks more logical (hopefully) questions.
Sort of. It seems Hououin Kyouma enrolled in a school without knowing what he did. He doesn't seem to even know how he got here.
"Tancho Academy? It's what it says it is: an academy. A high school, to be exact."
Perhaps something supernatural was at work. Another incident, maybe. Ugh. Hopefully not. Maybe something else entirely.
Practice [Open]
Jinora looked up to see a kind face near her own. âOh?â she uttered, baffled. For such a large place, there sure were many kind people here!
She smiled slightly and began to explain. âA bender is someone who can manipulate one of the four elements - earth, air, fire, or water. Theyâre very common where Iâm from⌠Iâm an airbender.â
Jinora bit her lip a little, not sure if she should have shared that much information. Too late to worry about that nowâŚ
"I see." Mokou gives life to a small flame floating over her right palm. "I guess that makes me a firebender."
There might be a difference to what Mokou is thinking and what Jinora is saying, though. Are benders magicians, or something more complicated? Although Mokou isn't exactly a magician, control of the elements wasn't uncommon back in Gensokyo.
"I'd like to see your airbending, then."
