The knock resounded deep throughout the Manor in London, her thoughts straying to why she had to return from her French palace as she elegantly strode over the foyer and brushed aside the elves. âThank you, Tink,â she said lazily. âYouâre dismissed.â
The heavy door gave way to her grip and she found her eyes resting on an unexpected guest.
âMama, I hear whispers.â âIn everyoneâs home, there are ghosts, mon petit. Come. Letâs find your papa.â
Us was nice and warm No jacket, no umbrella, just warm At night we would watch the stars And he would physically give me each And every One
Better than love, we made delicious.
Love slipped from my lips, Dripped down my chin and Landed On his lap
And us became new.
The Malfoys had been doing business with Ilona for the decades even she had been conscious of it, the heir now taking Abraxas' place in coming to the store. But this interaction was curious and she did not glance down at the heavy coins falling atop the table, tilting her head as she watched him.
"Ilona makes it her mission to ensure all who do business with the Burkes are satisfied." Her smile did not reach her eyes.
"Let me know if there is anything else I may do to be of service."

âLiar.â
Her hiss curled her lips and the door to the manor resounded as it closed, the chandelier above them shivering. She knew better than to allow such words fall from her tongue without jest, but in jest they remained, knowing his adoration for her did not come without the occasional servitude.
Their friendship bore scars in each otherâs name but both remained too deeply ingrained in war; affection she had been taught and loyalty so adamantly screaming in the pulsing of his veins wrote books singing of a time where they would die should the other wish it.
A hand rested atop his to keep him from speaking further and she bade him follow, dress sweeping behind her as they moved to exit the foyer.
The house embraced them and darkness enveloped their bones as they sunk deeper into the shadows. Her grounds were enchanted to keep even the most skilled spies free of her conversation, the vast study at the end of the corridor beckoning them.
âWhat is your business, Amycus?â She spoke over her shoulder, touching crystal stoppers and inhaling the scents of amber elixirs. âWhat skills can I offer?â

It was with endearing sweetness that she heard her name, knowing it to fall from the lips of the man she deemed her father. He spoke and she listened, respect in her still and silent expression as she surveyed his reaction to his own father.
Aggressive, she'd heard, whispers falling from those around them when Master Avery was spoken of, and though Cassius grew strikingly close to him in resemblance, there was a love in her father's gaze she could almost feel the other lacked.
The conversation would end when France was spoken of and Maya allowed a still silence between them as she was lead to his favorite room in her manor, the armchair no one touched save he now filled and warm.
"Breathtaking, as always, PapĂ ." Elves came to their service, refreshments abundant, awaiting further instructions as they shrunk into the opposite end of the room. "Augustus has gifted me a palace you'd be proud of."
âLet me stop you right there.â Luciusâ lips pursed, his eyebrow twitching ever so slightly. âAre you asking my opinion or advice? Because I can assure you, the answer will be quite the same.â
Maya's smirk curled, setting her quill down on her desk as she surveyed him. "By all means, Master Malfoy."
The glass beside her, filled to the brim with icy water, created a perfect ring of condensation atop the mahogany. She brushed it away as she continued. "Nothing has stopped you in the past."
