A leading British astrophysicist has argued that intelligent alien civilisations 'absolutely' exist somewhere in the cosmos but insists there is no evidence they have ever visited Earth, dismissing government UFO cover-up claims as 'total nonsense' in a new book exploring whether aliens are true or fake.
The debate over whether aliens are true or fake has intensified in recent years, fuelled by leaked cockpit footage, viral social media clips and a drumbeat of conspiracy theories that accuse governments of hiding crash sites, secret pacts and even underground bases. Against that noisy backdrop, Dr. Emma Chapman, an astrophysicist at the University of Nottingham and a specialist in radio astronomy, is trying to ground the conversation in what can actually be measured through telescopes and data rather than speculation.

Author David Paulides has said that a number of disappearances in national parks cannot be explained.
During an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, author and investigator David Paulides claimed the National Park Service had blocked some of his efforts to obtain records tied to disappearances in remote wilderness areas.
Paulides also discussed several cases he believes remain unexplained—including the disappearance of 14-year-old Stacy Arras in Yosemite National Park more than four decades ago.

The Pentagon released its latest batch of declassified UFO files on Friday — including audio of the Apollo 12 crew describing how they once saw mysterious “streaks of light” while trying to sleep in deep space.
The audio from a 1969 post-mission medical debrief captured the astronauts — Pete Conrad, Richard Gordon and Alan Bean — detailing how they’d experienced the bizarre flashes despite having their eyes closed.
“The astronauts each reported that these experiences occurred in the dark as they tried to sleep,” a description on the Defense Department’s dedicated UFO site states.
The account comes in the second batch of declassified files released by the Trump administration. The government doesn’t draw any conclusion
“The ground team suddenly radioed that the object had risen from the ground, approached within ten feet of the helicopter, dropped below us and sped away,” the officer detailed in a memo from the Office of the Directorate of National Intelligence after the strange encounter.
The document was included in a second batch of declassified documents released Friday on unidentified anomalous phenomena — previously and more infamously known unidentified flying objects, or UFOs — released this year by the Trump administration. The U.S. government has been holding onto the files for decades.
The Pentagon discloses scores of UFO files with reported sightings of spheres, discs and fireballs spanning nearly 80 years.
Witnesses described seeing "green orbs, discs and fireballs" dating as far back as 1948, the files show. More recently, a senior US intelligence officer said he saw "countless orange orbs swarming in all directions" last year, rendering him "speechless".
The fresh batch of materials includes a half dozen documents, a handful of audio recordings and 51 videos, including one of an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) being shot to bits. The circumstances are unexplained.
