Making time for life to happen

         What I wouldn't give for the days where I had summers off & nothing to do, with just an abundance of time to waste & do with which whatever the heck I pleased. Oh the things I would do with all that time now & the person I would be!

            I'm not going to dwell on it though. We all get older, we all get responsibilities, & life happens. I'm sure I spent a lot of that time flicking through TV channels and wasting it being bored [the horror], but do I regret it? A little bit, but I was happier then, those days where I didn't have to make time to have me time. Those days when I didn't spend free moments obsessing over trivial things and trying to be a better version of myself.            The me I am now isn't quite yet the me I want to be yet either. I'm better because I do spend more time working on myself, reading,learning, trying to fill that space with things that matter, but I don't have the ability to just let go, not care, and waste a whole day doing nothing anymore. As I'm writing this I'm only devoting half of my attention while the other half of my brain is busy rattling off a list of more pressing things I could be spending this time doing than flicking away at my keyboard. I want to be this me that has things to do and tries to make my days count, but I also want to be, a more relaxed, less stressed, carefree, version whose life actually permits her moments to live.

Disclaimer: I’m like the poster child for this so I’m definitely not excluding myself. We have all really lost the art of communication in general, but what’s currently bugging me is that I really feel like no one knws how to just be straightforward anymore. We’re a narcissistic society where no one is encouraged to speak the truth or step on anyone’s toes, it’s all about saving face, but it’s just fake. We all act aloof and no one wants to talk about things. No one wants to say what they’re actually thinking, whether it’s good or bad, but there would just be so much less confusion if everybody would just keep it real… No one knows how to just say I like you… Or I don’t like you… Or I would hire you but the girl i interviewed before you had whiter teeth (jk) but seriously….I wish everyone would just be blunt with me….Tell me the ugly truth (or the pretty) whatever just don’t hold back to spare my feelings or yours….I just want to know what everybody is thinking….so I can know what to think or feel about them or the situation, but no one wants to play their hand first or get their feelings hurt or hurt other people’s feelings & in the end no one knows where they stand. Can we all just be a little more straightforward?

Australian-born sculptor Ron Mueck has lived and worked in the United Kingdom for the past several decades, where he has gained global notoriety for his hyperrealist sculptures fashioned from fiberglass, silicon and resin. By replicating human anatomy in excruciating detail, Mueck dramatizes and explores themes of life and death through sculptures both miniature and massive.

Mueck’s latest works, which debuted in April at the Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain in Paris, France, recently made their way to Fundación Proa in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In March, the show will continue its tour through South America at the Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro.

The Job/internship application crazy train

The first stop Optimism, 

       You're all excited. You just got or are about to get this super awesome degree! You're so proud of yourself, you've made it this far & have done something to better yourself!....Now u apply to a few places & begin the waiting game.....

Now one or two of u might get off after just a short ride because you just got hired!! (Nobody likes u & they all give u dirty looks for getting off this early) jk we're all really happy for you & wish you congratulations!! Yay!!

Now the rest of us on the train are headed for the next stop...Self Doubt

        We start questioning our whole existence. Whether or not we even learned anything in school. We start thinking, maybe I'm not qualified, good, pretty, or smart enough, whatever...Now you can dust yourself off get off here & fig out another option or continue on to stop 3...

The depression spiral,

         Now this is a long road, in some deep dark tunnel. Hopefully the ride through isn't so long & unbearable...some of you might get off after this stop and decide hey, I'm cool with living with my parents forever but don't do that!! You've come this far! Have a good cry then move on! Continue applying, change how you're doing it, get a little more aggressive, & realize there is a light at the end of the tunnel u might not see it now but you will make it through! Promise!

As for me, I'm still along for the ride: next stop, Dream Job!
