@how2help
Hello, and welcome to the How2Help (H2H) tumblr page!
We are an online-based non-governmental organization that focuses on helping people struggling with mental illness and those around them, to communicate and connect with people, and maintain and repair relationships. H2H is run by Roisin Bean and Alina Poo, from England and Canada, respectively. Both of us have struggled, and still do, with mental illness, and it can often be an isolating experience. We want to allow those who also struggle, to connect, and find support and advice. As for the friends and family of those with mental illness, it can be just as difficult to deal, and cope. It’s hard for everyone involved, and advice, even just knowing that you’re not alone, can be a major help.
We became friends during October 2017, and have been close friends ever since. Our friendship started with light, topical subjects like our different school systems, and as we built time and trust, we began to share more about our issues, particularly mental health ones. We occasionally gave each other advice, on how to cope and repair damaged relationships, which is where the idea for H2H came from.
The two of us have been through a lot while we’ve been friends. Having each other’s support in rough times has been a godsend, and we’ve been able to learn from each others successes and mistakes. Finding each other, and offering each other advice has been a massive help, and why we’re not saying that you will find a best friend, you will find advice from others. However, we are but two people, and there’s a world of different perspectives. That’s the goal of H2H- for people, with different backgrounds and experiences, to share their successes and pitfalls, and their advice for others. Through showing how to help others, maybe we all can learn how to help ourselves, too.
