17. A steamy kiss [oh my]

"Do you ever think about what life would’ve been like had it not all got to shit?" she parted lips and gave him a smile. Rick had been staring out the window for a good fifteen minutes now, not a sound escaping him. Just his figure bathed in the pale light of day, two stipe-like shadows of the bars clinging to his worried face. Michonne approached and placed a hand onto his shoulder, his shirt was getting ragged, as ragged as everyone else’s clothes, they’d need new ones soon enough. 

"Hey…" she whispered leaning close, the only time his pale blue yes met hers. A breath parted from her lips before she placed them unto his own, a heated kiss of sighs and hungry hands exploring. Good thing no one was there.

She twisted her head in all possible directions, her coal black eyes searching for an exit, ebon hair wild and loose; mere moments ago she was a lawyer standing stiff and ready with a tongue full of piercing words and accusations. Now she was but a woman whose hand clang to the sweaty palm of a stranger in a dimly lit room, her ragged breaths were not enough to stop the sound of tearing flesh behind the very door and memory of coreless pale eyes staring, hungry -- insane. What the fuck was happening?

She listened to the question posed by the officer and cussed in silence her lack of observation. There, at the very end of the small rectangular room of orange fresh painted wall and mahogany floors stood another door. The pale wood, and broken knob stared at her invitingly. "I don't know" she confessed brows furrowing before she dashed to the lonely third companion and pulled at the broken hanging metal, "It's broken" she stated the obvious. 

A fleeting glance was cast to the vivid blue of the sheriff's eyes and with newfound anger, coupled with the instinct for survival -- she kicked and smashed with fist and feet at the wooden surface, till her high heels dug into the door, and beating flesh bled into the splinters. Soon enough though, an audible thud followed the collapse of the sole barrier standing before the two figures and that noon's drowning sunlight.

The woman breathed through nose and mouth, though it was a slight sigh of relief that escaped her parted lips involuntarily. Her steady hands kept her sword steady and true to its mark, as the crossbow's owner held his in return.

"Thought you were a Walker" the corners of her full lips frowned in return to his sarcastic tone, "My bad" her shoulders shrugged, though curious eyes travelled to the stranger's side only to discover that on his belt were tied a pair of nice and fatty squirrels.

"Sharing is caring" she rose a brow, "Hand them over."

She stood perched against a chirped and withered wall of a building that once had been a prison, though now it was a sanctuary. Within her mind thoughts raced and fluttered, as the memories of a life forgotten and pushed aside for the continuous struggle she had to embrace willingly or not. 

When was the last time she had stood and watched outside her house’s window? The green glistening hue and fresh scent of mowed lawn could tingle her nostrils even now — and if she could close her eyes and dwell deep inside into her fantasy, she could sense once more her lover’s warmth and arms.

Though through times as these, the woman could not be spared even the sweet taste of her past, for she pressed lips in annoyance at a shuffling sound. There outside the wired fence and between the dwelling dead, she saw none other than the familiar face of a girl who was once half hidden in fear and shadow.

That though did not stop her from drawing her sword.

Her katana’s light hiss, was but the only sound that came from her that morning before she stepped close to the wretched stench of the dead, and the sight of the woman clad in leather and a shiny gun upon her hand. “What are doing? We don’t accept others. Go back and take your weak sorry ass with you."

"Bet he does" the elder woman pressed full lips together as she weighed with coal black eyes the girl before her. Nothing about the petite, half ruined town and its Stepford wives seemed right, she allowed herself a subtle glance to her survival partner for months now, though the blonde seemed too preoccupied with being dreamy-eyed over everything. 

"We appreciate the welcome" Michonne raised dark brows emphasizing each word to slip from her careful tongue, "But we won't be sticking around." She need not turn once more to sense the tension coming from the frigid body of Andrea next to her own. Complaints would be heard soon enough once they would waltz back into the white painted walls of their shared room, though Michonne would not back down from her stubborn decision. 

And if she wishes to part ways, the woman allowed herself to ponder while looking into the pale eyes of the smiling girl before her, she need only say so.
