I loved this movie a bunch. Very exciting and emotional.
Honestly, probably the best social tip I could ever give you guys is literally just ask. Need to make a doctor's appointment but don't know how? Call the doctor's office and ask. Don't know the meaning of what someone said? Ask them. Don't understand the instructions you were given? Ask them to repeat or clarify. This has literally never failed me, no one's gotten angry, no one's refused to answer.
Even in situations where you think it might not work, I once accidentally missed a deadline to accept a job offer, so I called and asked if they could reset it and they did. Just today I called a doctor and asked how to schedule an appointment, the lady told me how, and then I did it. Didn't know if someone was being sarcastic or not, so I asked and they told me. Just ask.
I love this concept, but some of us had parents who would get angry when asked. My father would accuse me of talking back when asked for clarification, and that usually included physical violence. That kind of brainwashing is hard to overcome. Therapy helps but it never really leaves you.
the thing about being bullied for being weird as a kid is that even if you've always embraced being weird your brain is still always looking for the line where it's too much. you can be as proudly and intentionally weird as you want and you can love being weird but your mind is still convinced there's a point where you get too weird and people start treating you like a weird looking bug again. also it feels like you reach that point 500 times a day even if everyone you've spoken to today found you pleasant and likable and even if you're completely alone in your house with nobody looking at you at all.
Suddenly I became the person who replies late, loves being alone, disappear when things feel off and doesn't care if we stop talking.
when people use an inside joke around me and im not in on it so i have to go to the cuck chair
I hate the whole, "we've chosen your future" trope so much. My parents actually tried that shit with me, and it led to me shutting down and barley graduating high school. Can't be forced into college if none of them will accept you. I still think college would have been wrong for me, but I wish I hadn't thought of my future as a prison at the time. On a lighter note. When I graduated from trade school, my mom did get to watch me walk across a stage in the cap and gown. I wasn't allowed to do that for high school. We have SOOO many problems, but I am glad she got to see that.
