why is everything burning || kuranosuke
if there was one thing that Kuranosuke was, he was stubborn. perhaps not one of his most endearing qualities, but present nonetheless. and it helped in certain situations— though he wasn’t sure if being stubborn after being kidnapped was helpful or not. to be attached to someone else in the way that they were…it was absurd, and he had wanted nothing to do with it at first. the pull he felt in his mind towards another being was not appreciated, not when he could hardly deal with his own problems.
now? there was an overwhelming sense of fear, unlike anything he had ever felt before. it wasn’t the fleeting, passing anxiety of being lost, or of making a mistake, or even of knowing he was a disappointment. this was real. if the facility hadn’t been enough, being unleashed into this wilderness was even worse. by all means, he probably shouldn’t have ventured out, but Kuranosuke wanted nothing more than to go back home. it was too cold outside, and he was not in the least bit dressed appropriately. this game was going to be…interesting.
it was the sudden feeling of someone approaching that snapped him from his thoughts. it was as if he knew they were coming— and it was how he knew that they were his partner. turning, his thoughts were confirmed; a young boy now stood before him, looking a bit too eager for their current circumstances. at least he didn’t seem threatening… but he’d try to reserve judgement until he knew just a bit more about him.
hey, he was learning.
“ I think so. Ah— I kind of feel terrible for not looking for you sooner. What circumstances to meet each other in… ”
「☪」—» There was quite a lot Toboe could discern from the bond he shared with the other at this point, with all the time he'd spent at this place. He could sense fear, and stubbornness, and a sense of being overwhelmed. All of those things were quite normal to feel in a situation like this, even to him. But there was one thing he could determine that was more important to him than the others, at least at the moment. He could feel cold biting at his skin, even though he was relatively warm, a coat of fur keeping his body heat in, and it took him only a few seconds for the realization that this feeling was coming from the human before him, via whatever connection held them together. A head was cocked to the side, amber eyes focusing on the other's expression and clothes, telling him that they had every right to be cold, with that choice of dress. The words that were directed at him barely seemed to be heard, and with his smile fading to a more serious expression, Toboe smoothly took a few steps forward and took his partner's bare hands in his own, warm wolf breath blowing on their hands to warm them.
" You're cold, " came the explanation, no acknowledgement to the fact that the other's statement had even been registered. Toboe supposed he should probably respond, but the fact that he hadn't been looked for didn't exactly bother him, so he saw no reason for the apology. He just accepted it, and moved on. Which meant he continued breathing on the other's hands, trying to infuse them with warmth so the unpleasant tingling in his own fingers would go away. The wolf figured that curling himself around his partner and insulating them with his own fur might be a good idea, but he wasn't exactly sure if they could afford lazing about. The fire still crackled in the distance, and the possibility of aggressors was always a worry. He figured that motion was the best course of action for the time being, so he tilted his head up at the other again.
" I think we should keep moving. "
