Things to put on your Guidelines or Rules page
This list is compromised of many ideas for you to put on your Rules and Guidelines pages for roleplaying. Not all of these will apply to everyone, so it’s best to only choose what is best for you.
Note: You do not have to put any of these on your rules/guideline pages. These are just ideas and suggestions.
1.) State if both the Mun and the Muse are of legal age or if not.
2.) State if you would prefer to discuss plot rather than jump right into it, or if you are okay with being sent starters without previous discussion.
3.) State if the blog is a Multiple Storyline Blog, in which the relationships, romances, and actions of other characters in one thread do not coincide or interrupt the thread of another. All threads and stories are kept separate.
4.) State if you are okay or not okay with writing smut. If writing smut, let others know that you will tag it with NSFW and use a page break to keep others who are not interested in reading smut, from reading it.
5.) Concerning smut and other things, it is always good to make a list of limits. What you are okay with, and what you are not okay with. If you would like, you can say ‘for my limits that I am okay with, please ask’. For limits you are not okay with, it is good to make a list such as...I am not okay with the following: godmodding, rape, dismemberment, animal abuse, underage sex, etc.
6.) If you are okay with things like gore, alcohol consumption, cursing, violence, abuse and so on, it is good to let your partner know ahead of time. Also, please let your readers know that you will tag it with the appropriate trigger warnings if applicable.
7.) State if you would prefer that your character’s information is not public knowledge. This means that the character’s age, weaknesses and strengths, and so on, are not known by strangers and approaching characters.
8.) Let players know what fandoms you have knowledge of and are interested in roleplaying with, if applicable.
9.) Let players what type of writing style you prefer. State if you’d prefer to roleplay with those who write semi, para, or multi/novella. If you’re okay with freestyle, state this.
10.) Let players know if you’re interested in a more story-driven plot or a smut-driven plot, to allow players an immediate understanding of the types of stories you are interested in.
11.) Regarding the above, let others know what kind of stories and genres you are interested in if you have something in mind. If you’re open to any and all, let them know.
12.) Let others know if you have triggers. Let them also know that they should be comfortable in letting you know if they have triggers of their own, so that you can be mindful of it in roleplay.
13.) State if you are with shipping. However, be specific if you are not interested in having the roleplay work towards the relationship, if you just let it happen if this is the case, or if you’re okay with talking about it right in the beginning, or if you’d prefer it later on to be discussed as the roleplay progresses.
14.) State if you would prefer your partners to have proper grammar, spelling and so on and if it will be an issue if the person approaching you has particularly horrible traits in these. Also let them know if you are not bothered either way.
15.) State if you prefer long-term or short-term roleplays or if you are okay with either.
16.) State that OOC =/= IC. That your ideals and morals are not to be reflected in that of the expression/actions/and thoughts of your character.
17.) If you sometimes have a habit of forgetting to reply to threads, let others know that it is okay to poke you or send you a reminder ask if this is applicable.
18.) State if you are okay or not okay with M!A’s.
19.) State if you are not on as often as others. This will keep people from bugging you about replies as often.
20.) State if your character is interested in all genders, or is only interested in male or female, concerning sex or relationships.
