Was trying to look for a specific panel and what do I find? Ryoh in the original japanese referring to himself as ore-sama. I feel like I knew this already but it's funny to be reminded of it again, especially because Ryoh has Sukuna's voice actor.

And of course, the very next panel of this is Innocent Zero:

It's their magic lines, straight light hair and similar face design. If it were only their design I wouldn't have thought much of it but their lines??? They're practically the same :O So with IZ being over a hundred years old I immediately thought of how he could've had a family in his younger years of which Ryoh is the descendent of.

Ryoh being the strongest DV because he has IZ's blood would've been part of this but also...

I don't remember anymore when I started thinking this but up until the moment Ryoh attacked Doom, I wasn't sure if he was a good guy or not. Like I said, the two panels above come right after each other and I think that happens again at some point. The visual aspect of that while their magic lines are so prominent made me think that they have a deeper connection.

And it would've fit the story, too. Giving Ryoh a complicated backstory, IZ another way to mistreat his family this time over generations, comedy because Mash would be Ryoh's uncle, and the best of all would've been emotional distress for Ryoh because he would've had fucked up family duties on one hand but genuine responsibilities, friends and his own family on the other.

I honestly believe that Komoto played at least with idea of Ryoh and IZ being related early on. Then he cast that aside to not overly complicate his story in the last arc.

But I still vividly remember how I was at the edge of my seat when Ryoh came down those steps towards Doom, not knowing whose side he was really on. I mean, the guy just straight up disappeared for a long time while everyone else was fighting their individual battles and then losing badly against Doom. What did he do in that time??

Nothing because IZ wasn't his enemy could've fit the story at that point :D

While writing my Rayne/Orter fanfic, I came to the point where Rayne becomes a divine visionary which forced me to seriously deal with the strong and idealistic ambitions I wrote Rayne with which he canonically has, but which stand against a system that doesn't care and can't be changed.

That last chapter I wrote was entirely about Rayne... bending the knee to that system because that's what happened in canon, right? Rayne achieved the highest rank a single person can hold but it didn't serve his biggest ambitions. Instead he was folded into the system with only some small ways he worked against it.

The framing we have in this panel with Rayne and Wahlberg puts that ambition equal to Mash's that spans the entire story. Rayne and Mash are paralleled and so is their ultimate vehicle to achieve their dreams and ambitions.

But with Rayne we see something: Becoming a DV doesn't help you realise your dreams. It's fake. The title is meaningless if your dreams and ambitions aren't part of the system.

And so it's no wonder that in the end, Mash refuses to become a divine visionary as well. It doesn't serve him. He gets nothing from becoming the next star praised and prayed to like a god. Just living his life the way he wants with his friends and family in the open is more valuable to his dreams than dealing with an oppressive system while being an active part of it.

He leaves the "dismantling of the system from the inside" to the other DVs and Lance. There is no need for Mash to waste his time there. And with Mash on the outside as this active force that continuously pushes back against the system just by existing in peace, Rayne also gets the freedom, free of the shackles he put himself under, to go after his own ambition and change society for the betterment of orphans.

i’ve been inspired by @gay-noodle-clan ‘s post and want to also share my own lgbtq mashle hcs!! i’ve spoken about them on here before but a lot of them have changed over time and it’s been a while so here!!!

Mash Burnedead

Mash is 100% AroAce. I love seeing people ship him with Finn and others but in my heart I just cannot stray from the fact that he both entirely ignores Lemon’s advances and the fanbook saying that, when asked for his type, Mash answers "I'm not sure because I grew up in the woods" which, of course, could very well be interpreted Alloromantically, but I choose to believe in AroAce Mash supremacy forever

Lemon Irvine

Lemon has so much love in her heart for everyone. Just because she has a crush on Mash doesn’t mean she can only have a crush on men. I refuse to believe her attraction is limited to only one gender. Pansexual queen!!!

Finn Ames

Finn my beautiful TransMasc Unlabeled king. He was actually my first Mashle character to hc as trans, and it was definitely in part bc he reminds me of myself and I’m TransMasc :) Anyways though, him being Trans just makes a lot of sense for his character and behaviors, and adds more intricacies into his dynamic with Rayne which I think is fun. I also believe he’d not care too much about labeling his sexuality. He likes who he likes and that’s kind of all that matters to him.

Lance Crown

Gay man. Not much more to say about that tbh. Conceptually I just can’t imagine him being romantically interested in a woman. It doesn’t feel right. I can also see Demiromantic in him but I’m not so inclined by it to officially add it to the list.

Dot Barrett

Dot is so Bisexual. I could also see Omni for him with a preference to women but in my heart i believe it’s actually equal attraction/no preference, but he’s so unbelievably dense he doesn’t realize it and just thinks all of those guys he can’t get out of his head is because he’s jealous and he hates them (also true, but he doesn’t notice that he has a crush on top of that).

Abel Walker

Abel is very much so a Gay man. Similarly to Lance, I can’t really see him having any interest whatsoever in women. However, he DOES have interest in Abyss.

Abyss Razor

Abyss is both Gay and Gender Apathetic. He doesn’t really care about gender much. As an AMAB though, he’s inherently male aligned, but doesn’t personally have an attachment or interest with it. He doesn’t care if he’s referred to as a male, given he typically is, but if referred to femininely he wouldn’t mind either. He’s only attracted to men, and is fine with calling himself Gay despite the technicality of not being a male.

Love Cute

Love I actually used to hc as a Lesbian with CompHet, but I think Bisexuality fits her better. She’s just obsessed with people loving her, that doesn’t mean she’s not actually attracted to them at all. Anyways though, even though we only see her show attention towards men, that’s just bound to happen with a series with such a minimal female cast. I believe that not only would being romantic with a woman benefit her, it’s also likely for her to have that attraction alongside having it towards men. Also I just think her being TransFem fits her vibe and she gets euphoria from having men be attracted to her.

Rayne Ames

Rayne is a Gay man in the same way Lance is. I don’t really have anything to say about this one. It just kinda exists tbh.

Domina Blowelive

I think estrogen would save her and I will die on that hill. It’s just such a real hc to me I forget she isn’t canonically a woman. You know how crazy it’s gonna be when she gets animated and everyone calls her a man?? It’s just not right!!!!!! Also, Omni was just kind of a vibe thing. I don’t have an explanation for that one. It just makes sense to me. Fem pref btw.

Cell is too queer vibed to not be queer. They are so NonBinary in my heart it’s actually crazy that they aren’t canonically NB like Margarette is. Also, they’re unlabeled sexuality-wise. Same as Finn, they like who they like and that’s kinda it.

Happy pride month, everyone! For my own personal enjoyment, I thought I’d share my pride headcanons relating to Mashle! This is my first time sharing any of my headcanons (≧∀≦)

Please do not interact with this post or my account if you are anti LGBTQ+ in any way.

Mash is aromantic and asexual! He only has two goals in mind: live peacefully with his pops and eat cream puffs. He doesn’t seem very interested in romance.

Lemon is an ally! Personally, I don’t really see her being attracted to other women, but she would 100% support you.

Finn is also an ally! I’ve seen a few headcanons of him as LGBTQ+, but honestly, I don’t see the vision. Same as Lemon, though, in that he would support you!

Lance is too busy worrying about Anna /j no but I could see him either as an ally or as unlabelled. He strikes me as someone who hasn’t thought about it much or doesn’t care about labels.

Dot is omnisexual and I won’t take arguments there. While he prefers women, I don’t think he’d be against being with a man, and he wouldn’t think much about the sex or gender of his partner as much as their looks and personality.

Rayne is demiromantic and bisexual. He wouldn’t care about the sex or gender of his partner, but he wouldn’t fall for a stranger. He would need an emotional connection first.

Abel is homosexual. There is no basis for this other than the vibe that I get. I could also see him as demiromantic, as again, I think he would need an emotional connection first.

Abyss is bisexual and that is absolutely a hill I will die on. There is zero heterosexual explanation for what happens between him and Abel. But he’s definitely equally attracted to men and women, albeit much more socially awkward around the latter.

— This part might be a bit more controversial, but I could also see Abyss as agender or gender apathetic. I don’t see him as the sort to care about gender in any form, including his own.

Wirth is pansexual. He wouldn’t care about your sex and gender; as long as you’re confident and willing to give that man love and affection? His heart is yours.

Love is also omnisexual! While I could see her being attracted to anyone as long as they love on her as much as possible and have their world revolve around her, I think she’d still prefer men.

Orter is an ally. His and Wirth’s relationship is barely touched on, but from what I heard from someone else, he’s seen reading a book about how to talk to your siblings in the manga. While the Madl brothers clearly aren’t raised in any sort of loving environment, I think Orter would strive to be a good ally, albeit awkward, if Wirth ever came out to him.

so on my tomodachi island renatus fell in love with kaldo and kaldo got a crush on him too but they had literally just met and then kaldo fell out of love but renatus still wanted to confess immediately even though they were barely acquaintances and then kaldo rejected him and then i made sophina and then renatus immediately got a crush on sophina and tried to confess to her and also got rejected (and also when he tried to confess kaldo jumped in with a “hold it right there!” but sophina said she didn’t want to go out w either of them bc she quite literally just met both of them) so now i’m trying to get kaldo and sophina together just because i think it would be really funny to fuck renatus over like that even though i’ve never once considered the ship of kaldo and sophina but lowk it has potential if u think abt it

on a scale of 1-10 how odd is it that i heavily enjoy and believe in the hc/perception of lance that he’s incredibly mentally unstable

like. okay hear me out here for a moment. i still firmly believe that if dot and anna died he’d kill himself within a week. the way he speaks about those two particularly in That One Scene kind of heavily implies that for those who pay attention to it deeply enough. he doesn’t have a strong regard for himself at all.

and some might say that ooh he’s this he’s that he HAS to be stable!! and to that i say, well that’s the exact reason he isn’t. when anna was bedridden for years, presumably 3-5, lance HAD to be a pillar of stability for her. he’s all she has. he works himself to the bone and fights against his own personal philosophy in order to save anna. when he first fights mash he calls himself a monster for what he’s doing, yet forces himself to justify it. it’s all for anna. whatever he does and feels doesn’t matter as long as anna is saved.

his entire world revolved around anna, he didn’t give a shit about himself in the process. and i think the stress of it all led him to further mental and emotional deterioration. he placed so much pressure on himself and himself alone, there’s just no way he wakes up every day and is fine.

in all likelihood he dragged himself through every day, through school, through everything in order to get a chance to save anna. silently suffering through it all because he had no other choice.

but then he met The Gang and actually had friends, but he didn’t tell them anything either. they knew of anna of course, but never the details. they just made life slightly more bearable for him, so he had more reason to exist presently as opposed to absently meandering through daily life.

but THEN. epidem. and i’ve made separate posts on that, i’m not going to reiterate a point i’ve already made countless times, but you get what i’m going for with that one.

fact of the matter is, lance was kinda alone on it all the whole time. that had to be KILLING him, and we can see that it was via his complete disregard for his own life and wellbeing.

all this to say, the real core of my interest in this perception of his character is the fact that he likely had some unhealthy coping mechanisms. i know his biggest point of comfort was anna, and the necklace, and surely the earring as well despite the fact we never really see him acknowledge it independently. but at the same time i just find it so unlikely that something like that can hold him over for what is seemingly three to five YEARS. he’s almost positively less than stable enough to handle that with minimal issue, especially given how he behaves sometimes.

anyways. my point is. i think in their dorm room dot maybe learns to keep sharp objects not near lance. and i think more people should adopt this type of headcanon for lance because the possibilities it holds for fics and other media is SO peak.

but like maybe i’m biased bc my favorite tag on ao3 is hurt/comfort……….. idk

i first watched it in june of last year! i was on a bit of a sports anime kick around that time and had just finished watching tsurune when i stumbled across LAP! my favorite would probably have to be sakaki, he’s just such a silly fun fella. and unfortunately, i don’t really know other fans 💔 it truly is a very unpopular anime, honestly most people who watch it actually really dislike it but i just think they’re not pure of heart enough to enjoy it 😔

so i’ve recently become enthralled with the great gatsby (particularly the new musical but i appreciate all adaptations) and so. guess what i’m doing

that’s right it’s a gatsby mashle au

this is particularly more based around the new musical’s storytelling which is why i was able to put landot as nick and jordan because they actually have good chemistry there as opposed to book nick, who is the gayest motherfucker of all time towards very specifically gatsby, and doesn’t really care about jordan

i was originally gonna make daisy and gatsby be landot but the rest of the casting fell into place a LOT easier for me if i made daisy and gatsby be finnava instead. also yes i know lemon and mash aren’t here i couldn’t really cast them well to fit within the cast but i’ll squeeze them in somewhere trust

also the gender of the characters is kinds relevant so any that don’t align with those of the gatsby characters are getting genderbent in order to fit. sorry guys they’re not gay anymore

also also they’re all going to be the approximate ages of the gatsby characters and therefore not teenagers so i’m not really concerning myself with age gaps like finn and abel. also i know finn and abel is a really odd pairing but first of all i think it’s funny and second of all for the purposes of this story i think it works

i think that’s all i have to say about this idk if any of you like the great gatsby but i think everyone should watch the new musical because it’s actually so freaking peak
