Some headcanons for an HPHM mass snowball fight.

-Massive blizzard just before the term ends for Christmas break.

-No one knows who started the Snowball Showdown of 1988, but rumours abound.

-Some say Nymphadora Tonks and Tulip Karasu, in an attempt to settle their pranking rivalry tried to outdo one another with various snow related pranks that only served to drag both onlookers and victims into the fray.

-Others say Merula challenged MC for the title of ‘Strongest Snowball Thrower in Hogwarts’. Eventually causing an MC’s house vs Slytherin (or a civil war for a Slytherin MC) snowball fight, one that then began involving the remaining houses.

-Perhaps the oddest rumour is that the faculty instigated the hysteria, no one ever learned whether it was true or not and all the teachers remained tight-lipped about it. It did seem odd that no house lost even a single house point that day.

-Two things however, were certain. One, house allegiance eventually stopped mattering as students turned on each other in the chaos. Two, the only safe place was your common room.

-Among those who wisely stayed out of the action were Talbott Winger, Liz Tuttle, Chiara Lobosca and Ben Copper.

-Murphy McNully did not help things by declaring a 95% chance of the snowball fight becoming a free for all.

-Erika Rath was famously heard screaming “PARKIN, YOU LITTLE WANKER!” after Skye dropped a handful of snow down the inside of the back of Erika’s shirt.

-Skye wouldn’t come to regret her decision even after Erika slammed a bludger-sized snowball into her point-blank, several times.

-Orion Amari actually enjoyed the challenge of staying on balance while having snowballs thrown at him.

-Several random students saw their lives flash before their eyes when Badeea Ali’s painting was ruined by a stray snowball and she subsequently went ballistic in dealing out cold, frosty justice.

-Diego Caplan’s go to strategy was to fluster his opponents by flirting with them before he pelted them. It worked once then every time he tried to get a word in people kept throwing snowballs at his face.

-Bill Weasley gave up trying to keep Gryffindoor under control five minutes into the conflict.

-Emily Tyler became a target for anyone in the immediate vicinity if she walked anywhere.

-Ismelda Murk specifically targeted Gryffindoors.

-Rowan Khanna, Penny Haywood, and Barnaby Lee became known as a triple threat. Rowan for their strategy, Penny for her ruthlessness, and Barnaby because he could throw snowballs even when he was being hit.

-Charlie Weasley spent the entire time constructing a snow dragon, Andre defended him from anyone looking for an easy target.

-Jae Kim gathered people’s strategies and sold them out to their rivals for the low, low price of a single galleon. 

 Aftermath

-When the snowball fight finally ended, some students went to the bathrooms for a warm bath or shower.  

-Going to their common room to dry off with a mug of hot chocolate was also an option.

-The days leading up to Christmas break were comparatively peaceful, some snowball fights started but none that were on the scale of practically the entire school getting involved.

-For the most part though, students were just content to laze about during their free time before term ended.
