Well, if you are ever in the need to discover a new musical you should never hesitate to hit me up! But if you can’t go see them, you can always listen to them — or just visit your local theatre. There’s usually some hidden gems there that would freak if they found out you were watching. Isn’t that nice, though? Getting more recognition? I mean, I literally when to LA to get a guest role on Grey’s Anatomy and I ended up booking Glee… funny how things happen. Don’t be jealous! I’m jealous back if you are! Hawaii is beautiful, and I’m sure your hair would look fine. I love troll dolls — you’ll have to dye your hair blue. Or maybe purple. I’m filming a movie! A Christmas movie.
Who better than to show me the musical ropes? Oh I definitely listen to them. I went through this period where I played Hamilton & Hedwig on repeat. My issue is I don’t expose myself to new things, my friends always end up forcing me to listen to new things and then I just obsess for awhile and then it repeats. Yeah, the recognition comes with its’ ups and downs. The money is nice. I’m suddenly not poor anymore but strangers can get a little too personal. Glee was a gem, I can’t imagine working with Ryan Murphy. He’s quickly rising to the Shonda Rhimes level and you’ve worked with both? Even more reason for me to envy you. You’re jealous of me? Trust me, you’ve got no reason to be. I’m sure dyeing my hair blue will make my talent agent just thrilled. You’ve got some great ideas. Oh no... don’t tell me... it’s not Hallmark...?

Off-Broadway is almost as good as Broadway, and can definitely get you into bigger shows. I enjoy Off-Broadway shows just as much as the ones that are on Broadway, if not more! Well, you make that money and now you get to possibly see a touring cast of Hamilton — which I’m sure is just as good as the original cast. Though seeing Lin Manuel Miranda on stage is probably the best thing to have ever witnessed, ever. No way! Besides, I’m in Hawaii now — I can’t fly back to New York, watch Beetlejuice, and possibly get kicked out of the Winter Garden for forever. You need to find someone who’s very sneaky, and not as loud as me.
I’m trying to get into more Broadway in general because I genuinely do enjoy musicals but I feel like all the great ones are in New York and I just find it hard to carve out the time for a week in the city. Since Good Trouble, I’ve been getting a lot of leads for new projects and it’s a lot. I’m eternally jealous of you, just so you know. Hawaii sounds so nice. I love anywhere tropical. Although, my curls hate the humidity. Every time I visit home I come back looking like a troll doll. What’re you doin’ in Hawaii?

I swear no parents ever want their kids to get into acting. My mom was the same way, I think she expected me to be some kind of junkie right now if I had enough money for it, but then I got kicked out of school so I was like “well, I can either flip burgers or bring home the bacon”. Dude, you seem to be successfully climbing that ladder, but I’m a pessimist, so I’d just say never get too comfortable. Things can change in the blink of an eye, and keeping humble’s the best thing to do, so you’ll always have someone willing to lend you their couch if it comes to it.
My mom really wanted me to be like a doctor or lawyer-- y’know some kind of super successful degree holding person. I mean, I went after it for awhile but my heart was in acting. I did modeling to pay the bills before I got into serious roles, though. Is Evan Peters lending me his couch right now? Kidding-- but thanks man, I hope to be as kick-ass successful as you are. Are you working on any new projects right now?

Drew: It is. I haven't figured out the girlfriend equivalent to 'happy wife, happy life' but the philosophy remains the same.
Drew: Congrats bro. I'm happy for you. As someone who fell for their best friend and climbed their way out of the friendzone too I'm not going to lie, it's pretty incredible. If you and Maia are anything like Nessa and I you're in for one hell of a ride.
Drew: I'm good I'm just wrapping up a project for netflix. I've been filming for the last 6 weeks in Toronto and am finally headed home on Friday.
Tom: Yeah, I just need to go smooth for awhile tho, y'know?I dont want to over-complication things. I'm having fun just dating & seeing where things go.
Tom: that's nice. you & nessa got anything planned for your homecoming?

I’m just saying, something can be extremely funny but also bring you to tears. You don’t need to know about the actors, I just think that it’s good to point out their names if we’re going to question if they’re good or not. Anyway, there have been a lot of musicals out there that you’ve missed. Broadway and Off-Broadway. Who do you know Off-Broadway? Hamilton was truly spectacular, and it’s amazing that the tickets were in such high demand. I was blown away by it! Well, of course you have to. What would else would you do? Hire a spy to go sit in the theatre and Facetime you in?
I can agree with you there. Ah, I see. Yeah, it’s good to give credit where credit is due. No, just off-Broadway. Which, only happened a few times. They weren’t even big shows-- Well, not to my knowledge. I didn’t know off-Broadway was even a thing until recently. That’s what I heard! I really wanted to see it but I just had to be poor at the time. I know it’s running down in Florida now for a time, not the original casting of course, but maybe I’ll get to catch it in Tampa whenever I go visit Miami. Yeah, I was hoping you’d go, get a front-row seat, and FaceTime me the action. It’s win-win, you see?

Your mom would choose art over the Clooney himself? A woman of taste, I see. And you’re totally right - security is boring. I’d rather be couch surfing experiencing the utter anxiety/excitement of finding out if you got a role or not than sitting behind a desk. Not that I do that anymore, but it was a fun time.
She’s not big into the whole Hollywood stars thing. She didn’t want me to leave college to pursue acting but of course accepts it now. Funnily enough I was couch surfing before I got my gig on Good Trouble. Now I happily rent an apartment. Every time I get a lil’ cocky I have to remind myself that I was, by definition, homeless and that I need to be more humble. I’m super grateful to have steady work now though.

drew: okay well when you put it that way... you’re right. My whipped ass would be loading up the truck as we speak. Sorry boys, I can’t say no to Nessa.
Drew: a good thing huh? So you’re moving out of the friendzone then huh? Atta boy, look at you getting back out there. I’m rooting for you man.
drew: trust me it’s the small ones you gotta look out for. They’re like chihuahuas, tiny but vicious when mad.
tom: keepin your girl happy is the key to world peace
tom: yeah after a year & a lot of confusion & being the best friend, finally made it out. which, i didn't think it'd end up like this but i ain't complaining at all
tom: what're you up to tho?? you good??

drew: it’s been like a year and Maia sees you at work all the time. Not fair at all!
Drew: tell her sharing is caring, I already have to share jordan with sof and don’t like it.
Drew: so much for bros before hoes and by hoes I mean beautiful women who could kick my ass if they wanted to.
tom: lemme ask you this... vanessa suggests y'all take a romantic getaway or somethin', you gonna say 'nah babe, i'mma go fuck around with my boys instead'?? you ain't sayin' shit but 'yes honey let me get my bags' cause your ass don't wanna sleep on the couch. am i right or am i right ???
tom: plus, i really dont know what we doin and i need a good thing to go right so im really not tryna screw this shit up
tom: she's like 5'6' and 100lbs soaking wet but i'm still betting on her in a fight no offense

Maia smiled ear to ear as Tommy’s arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her in closer before kissing her back tenderly. “I did, I figured you earned it after driving all day yesterday. My treat.” The petite brunette pressed a kiss to his cheek before letting go of him so he could sit down and have his breakfast. Not that it lasted long, before she knew it his arm was snaking around her waist and pulling her onto his lap. Slinging an arm around her shoulders she made herself comfortable. “I’m seriously considering staying here forever!” Reaching down she grabbed a piece of toast from the plate in front of them and took a bite. “Oh you were definitely snoring when I got up!” Maia laughed softly. “But you didn’t wake me up. I was put like a light. I only woke up when Bear stepped on me while trying to get off the bed.” The dogs were far from small or graceful and at this point she was used to being stepped on or kicked in her sleep.
“What do you want to do today? We have this beautiful lake and forest all to ourselves. What should we do first?” They had all the time in the world out here and while she was excited to get the most out of their trip she was also not in too much of a hurry either. A relaxing trip was exactly what she needed! “I do now that the dogs were eyeing the lake all morning. I had to call Howie back inside twice this morning after he tried to jump off the dock.” Maia loved looking out the window and seeing the dogs running around so care free. She could tell they were enjoying themselves just as much as their owners were.
“I’m glad I didn’t wake you,” he chuckled. Tommy had a habit of snoring pretty loudly whenever he was extremely exhausted or sick. Luckily for him, Maia didn’t seem to mind. Even more so, she didn’t seem to mind any of his idiosyncrasies or weird antics.
Taking another sip of the coffee, he felt the liquid ignite a small fire in his though processes. The neurotransmitters in his brain were finally beginning to fire right with the caffeine beginning to process through them. Tommy took a quick bite, mulling over the possibilities for the day. He couldn’t help but laugh as Maia mentioned Howie trying to jump off of the dock. “We could definitely put on some swim suits, blow up the floats we got, and jump in the lake,” Tommy nodded. “However, if I feel anything big swim by me or touch my legs, the lake is cancelled,” he nodded with a somewhat serious grin. He’d spent a good portion of his childhood and adolescence in south Florida, snakes and water creatures were not his favorite company.

Lydia missing her mother is a tear-jerking moment and I will not let you judge me for loving my mother just as much as she loves hers! And to answer your real question, yes. Day-O and Jump in the Line are both featured in a beautiful way. Alex Brightman is the best you can get, he was Jack Black’s character in School of Rock the Musical — he just captures Beetlejuice so well. So you better grab yourself a ticket right the hell now and come back and say to my face, “Lea, you were right. And you’re the queen.”
Whoa, whoa, whoa. I miss my mom too. I am a mama’s boy, if you will. Okay, Ms. Sarfati, I gotta be real with you. I don’t know shit about Broadway actors. Like, I’ve had friends on Broadway but not Broadway. You know what they call Off-Broadway? Yeah, that. I didn’t even know School of Rock was a musical. The more you know. The only thing that I wanted to sell my soul for a ticket was Hamilton and sadly enough, I barely could afford my rent then. Wait, wait, do I have to fly to New York for this? I barely can get my lazy ass off the couch.
sarfatiisms·:
Okay! Due to popular demand I am letting you all know that I highly recommend the new Beetlejuice musical. It is entertaining, it’s witty, it’s hilarious … and I even teared up a little. Nevermind, you caught me, I sobbed like a baby at one point. I know you’ve all been dying for me to tell you which musical I recommend that’s currently on Broadway, and that one is it. Tell your friends! And if you disagree with me? Shut up, I don’t want to hear it.
You sobbed to Beetlejuice? I’m judging a little because one should only laugh their ass off. The real question is, does it feature the original songs from the movie? And how close is the interpretation of Beetlejuice on Broadway as to Michael Keaton’s impeccable performance? Let me know and I may grab myself a ticket.
