people on here make ocs and they're mostly men and they ship characters and they're always men and they have favourite characters and they're always men but sometimes they say the men are like women not trans ones though because that would be guh-ross and harsh the vibe of the #fandomspace and they write fanfiction about men and talk about how complicated and #deeplywritten their male favs are and they'll watch movies and tv shows with mostly male casts in every way that matters and not question it because well what do you want them to do about it and they don't even care that that's what they're doing to them it's pure coincidence they always like the male characters better it's pure chance that women are only interesting as yaoi cheerleaders and actually when they write female characters as yaoi cheerleaders they're doing them a favour because they were just so poorly written in the source material it's the charitable thing to do men men men men men men men and if you say anything about it well you're being a killjoy you're being no fun you're being homophobic you're being a misandrist god what is it about women right what is it about women always trying to ruin our fun? why do they care so much? they're just women. who wants to think about women at all.

Suddenly struck with a need to explain to you how boat pronouns work (I work in the marine industry).

When you're talking about the design of the boat, you say "it".

When the boat is still being built, your say "it".

When the boat is nearing completion, you can say "it" or "she".

When the boat is floating in the water you probably say "she", unless there is still a lot of work to be done (e.g. no engine yet) then you say "it".

When the boat is officially launched and operating, you say "she". If you continue to say "it" at this point you are not incorrect but suspiciously untraditional. You are not playing the game.

If you are referring to a boat you don't really know anything about you may say "it" ("there's a big boat, it's coming this way"). But if you know its name, it's probably "she" ("there's the Waverley, she's on her way to Greenock").

If you are talking about boats in general, you say "it" ("when a boat is hit by a wave it heels over")

If you speak about a boat in complimentary terms, it's "she" ("she's a grand boat"). If you are being disparaging it may be it, but not necessarily ("it's as ugly as sin", "she's a grotty old tub").

If she has a boy's name, she's still she. "Boy James", "King Edward", "Sir David Attenborough"? The pronoun is she.

If it's a dumb barge (no engine), you say it. But if it's a rowing boat (no engine), you say she.

And thats kinda why I don't like him but also that's kinda the tragedy of their situation. So i don't know.

From Flowery perspective Asgore wasn't the bad guy, how could he when he has taken so good care of him and the other flowers? So he logically assumed that it was his family who were the bad guys, who abandoned him for some god foresaken reason only for him to later realise that just like Asgore he had a narrowed view of the situation and that he was making Asgore uncomfortable.

Now. To be clear, it's not wrong for Asgore to have boundaries. If Flowery was bringing out the worst in him it's perfectly reasonable for him to establish boundaries, it's actually quite healthy for him to do so.

But it's also fascinating to me as a writing decision.

Time and time again it's the people who are doing what he asked for that are getting abandoned or neglected by him.

All the Flowers did get neglected by Asgore after he became obsessed even though they were doing exactly what he asked for them.

Kris also got ignored and neglected by him even though they also did what Asgore asked for them. (Bring flowers to their mother as a way to make a move on her.)

And when you really think about. Did Flowery deserve such a harsh statement?

Like again. Good on him for him for having boundaries i genuinely think it is the best decision he made in a while but at the same time.

Can't he at least be empathic towards Flowery for even a second? Can he at least admit that he appreciates what Flowery does for him before they say their goodbyes? Flowery clearly desperate to prove himself and prove he is worthy for Asgore going as far as letting his worst traits slide even though those traits make him uncomfortable. I don't know, it's just... the way Asgore never properly acknowledged him makes me kinda sad for him because MAN he really did just do everything for him just to recieve a simple"Your make me realise that i have been doing some awful things to the people around me."

Like ouch that gotta hurt.

And that honestly makes me more interested in the fact that Kris seemingly was at least ok with Asgore being taken in the bunker.

Now to be clear I am not defending Kris's actions here. No I don't think Kris did the right thing by letting Asgore get kidnapped but I do think it's interesting to think about in comparison to Kris.

One human died devoted to his king till his very last breath dying without ever reciving proper validation while the other human betrayed their king in the favour of surving under the Knight and... Lived.

Kris didn't fight faith for their father and THEY LIVED while Flowery died in a ditch all alone with never reciving any proper valuation from Asgore and that's the thing i am still thinking about since chapter 5 came out. What did Toby mean by that???

Anyway good character, still don't know how to feel about him. I am still thinking about this chapter man. I can't say anything i am just thinking.
