it’s her day off and she finds herself wandering around the park, though it’s not something that was out of the ordinary for the herbivore caretaker. she lived in the apartment complex on the island and there was enough entertainment here that she didn’t feel the need to venture off to the mainland. she was headed down main street when she caught an unfamiliar face looking at a map and approached with a smile. “are you lost? i can probably help you find what you’re looking for.”

“that’s a baby gallimimus,” she offers up from behind the boy, all the while clad in her uniform. the petting area wasn’t her area of work, but she often found herself helping in different areas of the park. sometimes the change of pace was nice and she was able to actually converse with the guests that way, rather than watch them drive by in gyrospheres. “isn’t it cute? came out of the lab only a week ago.”

watching her pull out the chair and sit down, he did his best to ignore the loud squeaks, bringing the cigarette back up to his lips and taking another puff so as to make his own silence less awkward. though as the hand was extended out to him, his smile faded and he froze up a little for a second, his gaze flickering from her hand, to her face, back to her hand again. turning his head slightly away to blow out some smoke, he then finally moved his cigarette over to his left hand and extended out his right, giving her hand a quick shake. so quick that you could almost say he was in a rush to let go again as fast as possible.      ❛❛   lucius. nice to meet you, too.   ❜❜

thankfully, someone finally came over and placed his ordered drink down on the table in front of him, before leaving again. if he was going to socialize tonight, he was definitely going to need it even more… he put out his cigarette in the ashtray and pulled the glass a little closer to himself.      ❛❛   so… you’re here by yourself, too?   ❜❜      he asked, before bringing the glass up to his lips, downing a fair amount of the golden brown content within.

“lucius?” she repeats, withdrawing her hand back to her lap. she didn’t pay any mind to the other and his mannerisms... well, more or less she didn’t notice them. perhaps that was the best for both their sakes. “that’s a nice name, i don’t think i have actually heard it before. it really suits you though.”

the herpetologist hesitates at the question, but he’s not graced by the silence for long. she shifts in her chair in order to toss one leg over the other. “i am... well, okay yeah i am. my boyfriend was originally going to come with me, but i don’t think he’s feeling too good tonight so i told him to stay home,” she replied, “i wanted to get out of my environment for a bit. sometimes i get too in my head and it seems like the only way to get out of it is a drink or two, you know what i mean?”

         :･ﾟ ❤️┇ Off duty — rare times, but Cassandra has had more than enough of realms and gods and elder gods and all that bullshit. Just for tonight, she wants to live like a normal young woman in normal Las Vegas. This is her third drink — a basket halfway full of now cold fries rest between the two empty glasses. The buzz is nice. The smell is nice. It is boring — and for once she appreciates this.

            That is, until a voice catches her attention — a cute young woman wanting her for company? If she ends up being some trick from a sorcerer from fuck-it-all-realm, I swear to fuck I will hunt them down and shove a bullet so far up their ass they’ll be spitting lead for millennia to come.

            But Cassie bites regardless, returning the smile as she leans against the table. ❝Maybe, yeah — ❞, she admits, taking a sip of her drink. ❝Am I that obvious?❞

“no, no... not at all!” she wasn’t the best liar, but alice sure tried her best to sound believable. “i just thought... uh, you know... when you see someone sitting alone it’s sort of common to say that kind of stuff. or is that super outdated? i’m a little old now, i suppose...” trailing off from her ramble, she seizes the moment to slip into a nearby chair. oh, how she wished she wasn’t cursed with such awkwardness. 

she proceeds to take a long drink from her own glass before pointing with her index finger at the other’s. “what’re you drinking?”

Tom is unable to move as he has some sort of baby dino laying on his legs. The little bastard was responsible for knocking him down as well. 

However with the help from the handler, he is able to stand. though the big man hides behind the small lady to put distance between him and dino boy. 

“T-thank you.”

He gulps a bit, apparently humans do still have nactual insticts to be afraid of these things. 

“I’m fine yes just um…This park is..crazy.”

the small triceratops runs off seconds after the former herpetologist intervenes, off to go harass some children on the far left of the petting area. the man seems shaken up, something she can’t help but be empathetic about. alice offers him a small, friendly smile. “it’s no problem... she has been causing the workers over here some trouble since she left the lab. it’s only a matter of time until they move her into the valley, i bet...” she trailed off, only then realizing she was out of uniform and probably sounded insane for knowing so much. “i should... probably mention that i work here. not like here here, but in another part of the park. today’s my day off though...”
