now that the semester is over i can finally concentrate in language learning!! so excited. also trying to get a head-start on next semesterās material though!! and a lot of sleep. because i really didnāt get enough of that over the past 2 months. šæ

May 13, 2020Ā The only things pushing me through online classes at the moment are cups of chai tea and vanilla candles! As tests and assignment due dates approach, I have to keep my anxiety in check. Sometimes, the big picture is too overwhelming, so I must take it one task at a time, one day at a time. How are you staying calm at the moment? I am compartmentalising my assignments, reading plenty of books in my spare time, and listening to natural rain soundscapes during classes.
Studying Effectively at Home // Tip one
Just because your workplace is at home now, does not mean you have to work all the time because youāre always at home! Sounds obvious, but Iāve been high-key struggling with this. I feel like Iām obligated to study all the time.
How can we overcome this? By setting boundaries and using positive triggers.
Time: time block when youāre going to stop studying and stick by them.
Space:Ā If you can, set up a separate place for study and avoid studying in the bedroom. If you live in a small apartment and canāt do the above, try to make some positive triggers for study vs relaxed time. For example, when itās āhomeā time, I slip into comfy clothes, put on my fluffy slippers, put my hair down, and turn my lamp on.
Digital: using app blockers, Forest chrome extension, etc. Using separate desktops for work vs play. I have been trying to use my laptop primarily for work and my phone for Youtube/social media.Ā
This is a process rather than a quick-fix, but building these boundaries will help so much in the long run! Positive triggers indicate to your body and brain what is currently happening, thereby putting you in an appropriate mindset. For more on positive triggers, I recommend reading Atomic Habits by James Clear.Ā

I always used a bullet journal to keep track of everything, but i noticed sometimes iām so busy, i really do not have the time to keep up with it and it takes me too long to make new spreads etc. Right now I have some difficult courses and went digital with notetaking on the ipad, i really love it.Ā
I use Goodnotes and I also made this really simple daily planner template on this app. I know itās really simple and it can be copied easily, but i thought i might share since i really like templates of other people to mix it up and get a spark of motivation :)Ā

i checked my project proposal deadline and itās been pushed back a week [NOT my thesis]. iām still going to try to gather my info soon, and wait until my next class to format it. today is all about paperwork!
