Assignment 9

I am Roman Catholic. I am believe in God. Most believe in the idea of judgement after death, and that God will treat people in the afterlife according to how they lived their life on earth. Although heaven is often mentioned in the Bible, it is rarely described. I am believe we have Purgatory and Hell too. Purgatory is for people did bad things but not really bad that people need our prays. When they have enough our prays, they might be in heaven. And people in hell will be there forever. In Catholic, we do not believe in Reincarnate. But somehow I believe it. Why? because I am Asian or my faith is not strong anymore.

Cycling, also called bicycling or biking, is the use of bicycles for transport, recreation, exercise or sport. It’s really good exercise, improvement your heath. You can visit, or expose your town with it. Easy to stop some where get your attention. I’m enjoy it with friends or family. But in another hand, it is expensive sport. For one good bike cost about $400 - $1,500, and anyone need one so think about it. Even though, I’m not include other equipment you will need like helmet, glasses, shoes, clothing. And you need the road for your bike. A lot of people are use to going on side walk. That’s fine but it bother walker. Someone’s biking on the main road. They make traffic jam and it’s not safe. Just remember be safe you should have partner. Now it’s a good time for cycling. Enjoy!

1.Why did the US enter the Vietnam war?

The reason behind the us entering the Vietnam War was a general attempt to prevent Communism.

Nothing. We entered the war with the goal to prevent a takeover of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) by the Communist Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam). As we know, this policy failed utterly when the North completed its conquest of the South in April of 1975. So in that respect, the war was a failure. The cost? More than 58,220 American dead and 153,303 wounded. $140 billion (worth around $950 billion in 2011 dollars). Thousands of veterans who continue to suffer from both physical and mental injuries even today, 40+ years later. American society shattered by deep divides over the war and the politics that surrounded it. The malaise, economic, societal, and military, that resulted from the loss in Vietnam lasted through the 1970 and really was fully expunged until the early 1990. Even today we talk about avoiding another Vietnam."

3.Who were the US presidents during Vietnam war?

The Vietnam War (November 1, 1955 - April 30, 1975) was American longest war and was fought in Southeast Asia. The twenty year conflict was fought between the Communist government of North Vietnam, who were supported by the Chinese, and the armies of South Vietnam, who were supported by the United States of America. The North Vietnamese sought the reunification of the two countries under Communism. The United States, in line with their policy of Containment during the Cold War, were determined to prevent Communist aggression and provided the South Vietnam government with considerable aid and support. The US finally sent in troops to fight as well and the prolonged Vietnam War escalated in 1965. The Vietnam War resulted in victory for the Communists when American troops were withdrawn in 1973 enabling South Vietnam to be completely taken over by communist forces in 1975.

Assignment 5

Why didn’t Starr speak up when she needed to?

She once said “I always said that if I saw it happened to somebody, I would have the loudest voice, making sure the world knew what went down. Now I am that person, and I’m too afraid to speak” (Thomas 34-5).

No one can read the thoughts of others. If one person fails to express what he/she feels, then they wouldn’t be able to help themselves as they don’t know what they are needing. Few for all. Imagine driving on the highway and a car cuts in front of you. The first thing you’d do is honk, then you’d have warned others and they would have noticed the danger ahead of them, and the people behind you’d realize that you’d in no wrong positions but the other car ahead of you are causing all these traffic hazards. This would act as proofs that you’re not responsible for any accidents that occur subsequent as a result of actions taken beyond measures. Or when you’re being assaulted by a group of people, you’d scream for help or pass on the information that you’re in danger onto someone else. There’d be people who’d pay attention to you and call the police for you. There are always good people amidst of the seemingly evil world. Thus, if we care for others beyond ourselves, and pass on selfless actions and kindness, we could receive it back when we need it most.

Assignment 5

Why does the criminal world always exist?

Is it because we were neglected, lacking love and care within our family and in our surroundings? Or is it because we are too self-absorbed and centered, and that we prioritize our own personal freedom beyond all things else?

Khalil had to deal and sell illicit products to pay off his father’s debts from the Gang. These mafia-esque dilemmas would have thought to be extinct from decades if a hundred years ago, and it would only exist in fictions instead of reality. However, criminal societies would always exist because they abuse humans’ weaknesses such as their greediness, sloth and selfishness. Greediness is a powerful motivation, people would be willing to do just about anything to gain rich and wealth. Some would jeopardize their friends and families in exchange of riches. It is only righteous in their minds that they do so because they have been told and having held onto the belief that money and wealth matter and nothing else. Slothfulness, everyone wants the best of things, but few are willing to spend time and efforts to work for them. It is not entirely wrong, and could be a smart way to pass by in this world, but the slothfulness is being referred to here, or rather cowardice is the way people want everything to be easy for them to the extreme that they would not have to do or learn to be able to accomplish those tasks. Drugs – if there is demand there will be supplies. Drug users/abusers do not necessarily have to be poor or are in a low educational status. Nevertheless, these people only care about their own feelings and are regardless of their surroundings. If there are no drug users then there would be no drug dealers, and there would be less crimes in the world. Those are the selfish ones.

Those are the reasons that indirectly support the formation of the criminal underworld. Perhaps it is partly due to law enforcers who fail to execute their jobs and responsibilities.

3rd: silvered hair old dude with black shirt.

I think the first person would fall in the category of a artist, specifically a screen writer or an author of some sort. He looks like a devoted artist who have somewhat been tired from years of work, but still love the idea of a distinct look.

The second guy in orange shirt looks cunning and shrewd - in a scientific way. My guess that he is some sort of construction engineer due to his physical appearance (someone who moves around a lot and the job often requires a good physique.)

The silvered hair old man in black looks like an painter/actor. He has a very distinct look of someone who has spent a lot of time involving with arts, very thoughtful and spiritually intelligence.

I was close in guessing the profession of the woman. She is a political writer, I have guessed otherwise that she was a novelist - or fashion designer. However, her job profession did not tell half of the story, as she further expressed that she loved to party when she was younger, but age had caught up with her, and she feels regretful.

The second guy was a young man, as I have realized that he is a dog-walker once i read his job description. Far from a construction worker or engineer as i have guessed. However, it is harder to catch a random young person and make an accurate guess at what they do for a living.

The last person is a musician, tv host and apparently have gone through working with films. My initial guess was that he was some sort of painter or actor. So he does fall in the category of “entertainment” and was at some point an actor.

As I learnt that older people are easier to recognize, and that most of what they did their entire life would have washed out on the surface, where as younger people tend to be more difficult to guess.

1 Kairos means timely convenience. So if something is done at the moment when it produces the most effective outcome, that is kairos for me.

2. First of all, good for him. If he's not lying, then he's a highly ambitious person and is likely to get far in his career life. He is straight to the point and full of confidence in how he addresses himself. Employers like confidence from their employees especially those with overqualifying qualities. There is no doubt that he will go far no matter what company in the field of work that hes most good at. Most people would see him as coming off too strong or too egoistic as a starter up, but I think a strong start could give him a boost in his career. If he got what it takes then he would likely gain the attention of his employers as he started out his work, and his abilities will likely get recognized by his bosses and pushed further down the line of his company. However, if he is not competent then we can be sure that what he said on his statement could act as a double-edged sword to wreck havocs upon his career, and furthermore, he will be identified as a liar and despised among his colleagues and possibly his bosses as well if he stays to work and fails to excel further up the chain. Nevertheless, I do not know whether if this is the full proposal, because it would have been better if he could have proven some of what he said via certifications or certified approvals. This is a good proposal statement coming from him. I do think that people with passion and ambition would be able to learn a lot from this proposal.

Pathos

After hurricane, what do you have left? I have sad, scared and nervous. In U.S., we are one of the best weather forecast in the world. We know it’s coming to us but we never got ready enough for it. In this picture, he only have the dog deeply sympathizes with him. I don’t see his family or at least a friend. Deep in my bottom heart, I hope he will be better and may God bless him.

Healthy or unhealthy, It’s your choice, isn’t it? Why do we have small breakfast in the morning? or maybe we don’t have one. Everyone knows have a big breakfast is the best way to start your day. But time or money. Someday you work 12 or 14 hours per day untill midnight and wake up early in the morning to be able to work. So they will say: “ I don’t have time to eat”. But think about it. The people’s healthy allway last longer. So it is your choice.
