Vintage x modern.

Pure Vessel, Hollow Knight. 𖤍

Creating this 3D art was one way to cope with the 'hollowness' as the game reached its end, an attempt to hold onto the lingering echo of its world, lol.

I used some original game art as well as some Fan art I found on Pinterest to make the 3D piece. Also, I imported the scream animation from Mixamo (Under the name 'Battlecry').

Setting aside the complex process of creating detailed paintings, returning to the basics; what is the minimal amount of detail needed to convey meaning?

🚩 Landmark: Seeking a New Path 🎐

I don't remember the last time I felt excited about making a new 3D model. I think it started around the time I wanted to sell 3D models. The goal shifted from enjoying the craft to feeling like I had to do it a certain way.

That brought with it a lot of stress; trends, requests, deadline pressure, rushing for quick results, which meant I wasn’t truly enjoying what I was doing.

I took some time to browse Pinterest, looking for things that inspire me and ignite that ‘I want to make things like this too!’ feeling.

And I realized, it's not that I hate 3D art; I was just making the wrong things.

If you ever feel like you’re forcing yourself down a certain road, ask yourself how you got here and how it all started.

Don’t ignore that feeling. Because doing what you love, simply for the joy of it, will be much more fulfilling and healing.
