Out of everything Cleo had been expecting to find, it wasnât this.
It had been about two weeks since everything went silent. Oakhurst was so quiet now, just Cleo and Pearl. No more screaming, no more fighting, no more pointless violence. Cleo still hadn't quite gotten it in their head that it was over, that they had survived, that the plan actually worked. Now, she and Pearl had begun work on cleaning up the town.
Against their better judgement, Cleo started with the doctorâs old home.
It seemed the easiest to start gaining momentum on, for all his time spent working Doc had managed to keep the place fairly tidy. It was the outside that had suffered the most damage, scarred by all the conflict it had borne witness to. But when she started searching, she found it. A small box, hidden away under his bed. A recording device of some kind. It clicked.
âSeptember ninth. My travels through the countryside, to study and treat the ailments and afflictions of the commonfolk, have led me towards a derelict townâŠâ
Cleo dropped it. It fell through their fingers as their whole body suddenly went weak. His voice. It was the doctorâs voice. It was Legsâ voice. The last time she had heard it was when she⊠when sheâŠ
Cleo rushed to pick it up again, searching it for any signs of damage. It seemed alright. There was a button on the side that they must have pressed when they picked it up. Click.
âSeptember sixteenth. Any and all attempts to leave the immediate area surrounding Oakhurst have failed. A dense fog has rolled in, making navigation almost impossibleâŠâ
Tears ran cold down Cleoâs face in silent, choking sobs. Why hadnât he told her about this? Why hadnât he told anyone? Their hands shook but they were determined not to drop it again. They couldnât risk damaging it, losing this little shred, losing his voice.
They pressed the button again, but it was only static. Had she broken it? No⊠There it was, the sound of him breathing, and another pause. ThenâŠ
âVampires are real. End of log.â
Cleo kept clicking. The last recording was dated October eleventh, days before the end.
âBut Iâm still hopeful. If not in⊠if not in helping those who are potentially too far gone, but just trying to save whatever there is left.â
Cleo didnât notice the sound of the door opening, or of Pearl coming in, but suddenly there was a hand on their shoulder and a silent question. Is thatâŠ?
Cleo nodded. Tears began to make their way down Pearlâs cheeks. They spent the rest of the day standing there, in silence, listening over and over and over.

tf!Graecie is such a pivotal being, no words are enought to describe how moving it is to see her learning journey, heartbreaks, joy and briks be upon us all. Chose to draw Fleece with a head of a wolf, a body of a sheep, lions mane and owl's wings. An allegorical beast representing true kindness that is neither inherent nor moralistic, but a choice one has to make while facing both own capacity for harm and the casual cruelty of the world. yeah..
This took a lot longer than it should have due to me being very inexperienced with digital art, but it's done!! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Hello, all! This is an announcement for a Vampires SMP community event to support bat conservation. Thereâs a lot of misconceptions surrounding bats being evil or dirty or diseased, which makes it really hard to get people to care about some bat species that are already struggling with survival. Bats are close to the heart of VSMP, so i thought we could do something to raise awareness and support within our community.

When this event occurs: April 12th-18th, as International Bat Appreciation Day falls on the 17th of that week.

How to participate: Create a post with a piece of art or a story that is related to bats in VSMP in some way, and include a donation link to a bat conservation group with it. All posts will need to either tag this blog, or use a hashtag (#vsmp bat conservation event) so that we can find and reblog it to share the love. Itâs not required but including information about bats themselves either within the work or separately is encouraged.
Who can participate: Everyone! Regardless of skill level, everyone is invited to participate. And if youâre not able to participate directly, you can still help by donating or liking/reblogging other peopleâs works.
Accepted art: Digital, traditional, 3D, short stories, poems, get creative! You may make as many posts as you like.

i personally don't feel comfortable handling money in any way, so all donations will need to be made directly to the conservation group(s). The downside to that would be that there won't be a specific monetary goal, and we wonât know how much gets donated in the end. HOWEVER.
To incentivize participation, i will be taking art requests. For each request that is made, I WILL DONATE $5.00 USD (capped at $500 USD). That means even if you're not an artist or writer, and donating is outside of your means, you still have the opportunity to be involved in a meaningful way!
All art requests must be sent as an ask, and must follow the above stated rules, otherwise it will be deleted. You may send an ask early, but it will only be fulfilled after the event starts on April 12th. Requests will not be accepted after April 18th (or if we hit the $500 goal).
