Eliza is honestly the PERFECT example of a woman being strong without having to “kick ass”, while still doing motherly things and being traditionally feminine. She and Alexander stayed together after the Reynolds Pamphlet, and dealt with Phillip’s together; it takes an incredibly strong person to deal with those things and THEN to find forgiveness for Alexander!!! Can you imagine?? I know those are the lyrics, but really take it upon yourself to fathom that. That’s something most people cannot do. And when Alexander died, she told his story AND Laurens’s AND Mulligan’s AND Washington’s. AND she started an orphanage and continued to be a mother! THIS is the kind of strong woman I really admire. Her generosity and strength is unparalleled, and she’s just such an important example of female strength to me.
