Um, I guess all the cool blogs have one of these so I thought I should make one. As my blog name suggests, I like coming up with romantic writing prompts. You are more than welcome to send prompt theme requests but please be respectful. :) I try to keep my prompts gender neutral but I'm fine with making gendered ones if you want me to.

Doing things you're not interested in just because you like them.

Wondering what they might like about you.

Rescheduling other plans to hang out with them.

Trying to impress them with your skills.

You can't stop talking about them to your friends.

Overthinking how to ask them out, worrying about how things might go wrong.

If they're the kind who gets involved in competitions, you show up to support them.

Finding reasons to not like them so you don't have to admit your feelings.

Things you find annoying in other people become endearing when your crush does it.

Writing your unfiltered thoughts about them in your diary/journal.

Making harmless assumptions about them (e.g. "They seem like the type to enjoy horror movies") and wanting to get closer to them to see if your perception of them matches reality.

Hey! Do you think you could do secret/forbidden love prompts?

Note: Kinda feel like I have to say this in advance, but I don't intend to imply infidelity of any sort with these prompts.

Secret Love Prompts

They spent a long time telling other people they don't have feelings for each other, so when they do get together, they keep it secret before breaking the news.

They meet at odd times of the day/night to avoid being seen.

There are long gaps between their meetings, so every time they meet, their kiss lasts for ages.

^ and they give each other something to remember them by.

A's been through a lot of bad relationships, so they tell B to keep their relationship a secret until they're sure.

They think their relationship is secret but everyone around them actually already knows.

When they're around people they know, it takes all their self-control to not make physical contact.

Everyone else thinks they're rivals/enemies. It becomes harder for them to keep up the ruse the more they fall in love with each other.

Someone spots them being a little too affectionate in public and they have to come up with a cover-up story.

B starts to worry that A doesn't actually love them, which is why their relationship is a secret. A puts their mind at ease.

Signs of Early-Stage Pining: Part 2

Getting into their interests (either preemptively or after learning about them).

When you're far from them in the same room, you watch them because you just can't keep your eyes off them (bonus points if they pretend not to notice).

Changing your fashion sense to match theirs.

Being unable to sleep because you're thinking of them.

Trying to learn more about them from their friends or your mutual friends.

Getting jealous when someone else flirts with them.

Browsing their social media profile(s).

Going out of your way to "bump into" them.

Finding ways to sit next to them.

Imagining scenarios that involve them.

Your brain short-circuits when they accidentally brush against you.

Hi there, I come from the knight x monarch prompts post and now I’m hooked to the dynamic, I fear (and definitely agree that knight ships besides prince/princess are so underrated). Could I request some knight x court magician (or in general wizard/witch) prompts? I’d love to see someone else’s take on that!

Knight x Magician OTP Prompts

A is the knight, B is the magician.

A tries to protect B in battle, only to find out B is capable of protecting themself.

^ but the other way around.

B tries to impress A with some spells.

One of B's spells goes horribly wrong and puts A in danger.

They have to keep their relationship a secret from the rest of the kingdom.

B asks A to train them in combat in case their magic ever gets wonky one day.

B isn't very good at magic and the rest of the kingdom teases them about it. A stands up for them.

A is injured in battle. B heals them with magic.

B is ostracized from the rest of the kingdom. A genuinely likes B, so they visit them and they grow closer.

Sort of combining 8 and 9, A gets injured in the outskirts of the kingdom and B takes them in to heal them.

Nerd x Playful OTP Prompts

B asks A to tutor them, secretly wanting them to spend time together so they can get close.

^ but A offers to do it before B can ask.

Contrary to what one may expect, B gets better grades than A, so A asks B for studying tips.

A dresses like a typical nerd. They try to change their look to match what they think B would like, but B reveals that they like A just the way they are.

B helps A lighten up and let loose.

One of their tutoring sessions turns into a date.

A has never had someone to talk to about their nerdy interests until they get close to B, who is more than willing to listen.

A lends one of their books to B, filled with post-it notes of their thoughts on the story.

Despite being a nerd, A is not shy, and confesses their feelings for B in a direct way.

B secretly has a nerdy hobby which A happens to be into, so they bond over it.

B plays a harmless prank on A.

A assumes B is pranking them when they ask them out on a date.

Romantically Experienced x Inexperienced OTP Prompts

A is experienced, B is inexperienced.

Contrary to the typical version of the trope, A is shy and nervous while B is confident and forward.

B initiates the first kiss between themself and A.

They're acquaintances/strangers. A asks B out on a date. B thinks they're being pranked because they've never been asked out before.

^ except B asks A out.

B gets jealous/insecure after learning the details about A's romantic past.

B feels like they're not good enough for A because of their lack of experience.

A feels like they're not good enough for B because of having too much experience.

A introduces B to their friends, who can immediately tell A feels something for B that they never did for their previous partners.

A has always been the caretaker type in their past relationships. When they get together, B makes sure A feels taken care of too.

B is so not used to any sort of affection that they freeze when A hugs them for the first time.

B didn't get to go to prom when they were in high school, so A recreates the experience for them.

All of A's past partners mistreated them, so B goes out of their way to make sure A knows they are loved and appreciated.

^ but A's friends are wary of B, so B has to prove they truly care for A.

B has a list of romantic things they want to experience, and A is all too happy to help them.

B has some harmless hobbies that they think make them undesirable. A proves otherwise.

B is planning to propose but A reveals they've known for a while.

A tells B an embarrassing secret about themself.

A confesses that they think they're inadequate/undeserving of B's love.

A mentions something that causes an argument between them and B when A is sober again.

A first says "I love you" to B when drunk.

It's A's first time being drunk and B gets to see a whole new side of them.

B pours their heart out to A when A is drunk, knowing they won't remember anything when they're sober again.

A tells B a harmless secret about the early days of their relationship.

Knight is A, monarch is B.

B gets hurt or their kingdom is under attack. They keep A close under the guise of needing protection, but they really just want their company.

A is new to being a knight. B takes time out of their day to show them how things work.

They're in love but have to keep things a secret.

A defends B in battle (or the other way around).

B helps A put on their armor.

B wants to get better at combat, so they ask A to train them.

A guards B while B sleeps.

B considers abandoning the throne so they can be with A freely.

B thinks they're not doing a good job as the monarch of their kingdom, but A, being one of their biggest supporters, convinces them otherwise.

A is sick but still insists on protecting B.

^ but B takes care of A.

You may have confused me with someone else. :P I've never written a prompt list like that… until now.

Waiter x Regular OTP Prompts

A is the waiter, B is the regular.

B comes in close to closing time, very apologetic, but A knows them so well that they've already asked the chef to prepare their order.

^ except no one else is there. Since there's no chef to prepare food, A and B strike up a conversation instead.

They are already dating, and A starts working at the restaurant. B dines there to support them.

B times their visits to the restaurant to match A's shifts.

A gets chewed out by their manager for a mistake. B stands up for them.

A spills food/a drink on B's clothes. Cue awkwardness.

Before leaving, B writes their number on a napkin.

It's A's first day on the job. B reveals that they used to work there and tells them some secrets about the place.

B asks A to serve them a surprise dish.

They are friends/acquaintances. A already has feelings for B and freaks out when they show up to dine at the restaurant.

Strangers assuming they're a couple.

Friends and family making comments about how they'd make a good couple.

When they finally get together, nothing changes in their dynamic except that they kiss sometimes.

Saying "I love you" casually as friends.

^ until one of them realizes they don't mean it platonically anymore.

Comforting each other after bad dates.

One of them being jealous whenever the other goes on a date.

Knowing oddly specific things about each other.

Making fun of typical couple things (bonus points if they do those things when they become a couple).

When they become a couple, there's an initial period of awkwardness as they both worry about ruining the friendship.

Having to pretend to be a couple (e.g. at special events), only for them to realize they want it to be real.

Having special nicknames for each other that become pet names when they start dating.

Doing date-y things but as friends.

Seeing each other at their worst (physically or emotionally) without batting an eye.

Having sleepovers.

Rivals to Lovers OTP Prompts

They both compete for the affection of their mutual friend, only to realize they're in love with each other.

They act hostile towards each other in public but are madly in love in private.

A assumes B dislikes them because they're rivals but B dispels that notion.

They're on opposing sports teams. As they begin to have feelings for each other, they feel guilty about winning their games because they think they might upset the other person.

^ so they sabotage their own games.

A tries to impress B under the guise of showing off, but it's actually just to get their attention.

A confesses to B but B has a hard time accepting it because "rivals aren't supposed to like each other".

They're academic rivals who decide to tutor each other in the subject(s) each of them is better at.

They get trapped in a small space and learn more about each other, realizing they have more in common than they thought.

A gets hurt (either emotionally or physically), and B of all people checks up on them.

They both have a common rival C. They decide to stop competing with each other and compete with C instead.

A playfully insults B but unintentionally ends up genuinely hurting them. A has to make it up to them somehow.

They're forced to play nice, which gradually turns into them being genuinely nice to each other.

A and B have been friends for a while and C knows A well, but when A and B finally get together, they don't know how to tell C.
