~~Introduction~~

Hello! My name is N, and I am a fictive in a traumagenic DID system! This is my introduction, and a few boundaries for my blog!

First and foremost, some clarification: When I am reblogging posts and speak about N in third person, I am speaking about the fictional character, not myself. When I use "I/me", I am speaking about myself, and when I use "we/us", I am speaking about my system as a whole. Pronouns: They/he (I prefer people use a mix of the two)

Age: 22, bodily 21. Minors can interact with my blog, but please do not private message!

DMs are open to adults, and my askbox is open to everyone! I am happy to chat or answer any questions that are not malicious, invasive or just uncomfortable for me! In fact, I'd love to receive some asks.

Sourcemates are always welcome to interact, as well as doubles, even if you are not from Unova. I have no DNI source characters, but please do bear in mind I do not contain source memories when interacting. I do not consider myself to be canon N. If you are looking to interact with a canon N, that is not me.

Hello! Just letting all my mutuals know that this blog is not dead, I simply don't front as often as I used to.

This blog was created around the same time our host realized our system and I realized I existed, during which time, we were able to switch easily for a while, but that ability is no longer maintained, and host is no longer able to easily swap out of front.

So gaps in how frequently I post, may be larger.

Follow up on this concept, just to kill time.

This may sound silly, but to maintain that concept of female rarity, in this case we have two males and one female, although there is a possibility of female triplets.

I have more things in mind for this idea, but I prefer to explain them with drawings.

Today, despite the heat, I went outside. This turned out to be a wonderful decision, because I saw a frog visiting my garden! He was tucked beneath some tall grass, so I admired him for a bit and then went on my way.

Very glad to have seen him.

I realize it’s just because they’re trying to introduce the audience to the concept of Pokemon and everything but nothing will ever be funnier to me than prof oak being like “these are creatures called Pokemon, they live in all sorts of environments!” like imagine if you met a biology professor and they were like ‘I’ve been studying these intriguing creatures called “animals’

I maintain that Pokemon starts to make a lot more sense when you stop thinking of the Professors as biologists and start thinking of them as children’s science communicators, which, in a world where children as young as 10 are expected to make their way in a world populated by superpowered fauna almost entirely alone, stands as an important and laudable career. “There are 150 animals” becomes the in-universe equivalent of “There are three states of matter.” There’s too much information in this field to dump on a grade-schooler all at once, so Professor Oak is here to mete out animal facts as they become relevant in an easy-to-understand way.

That being said, I would love to see what kind of shit the real Pokemon biologists are on. I’m just imagining some disheveled, overcaffienated researcher writing a grant proposal for their study on why certain wingull seem to evolve into pelipper faster when they hatched in the winter or something. There’s bird shit on their glasses. They haven’t left the lighthouse in months. This is their life’s work. Ash Ketchum doesn’t need to know about real Pokémon biology.

Team Rocket Meowth and BW Anime N are very good foils... hear me out.

Meowth is a Pokemon who can communicate with humans, N is a human who can communicate with Pokemon. But what really fascinates me is that in the anime, N says directly to Meowth he shouldn't.

To Meowth of course this was very insulting, and N came off as condescending, which he sort of was being, despite having good intentions.

Additionally, neither seem to quite fit in with (or particularly like) their species. Meowth seems to have a level of separation in his mind from the Pokemon he is capturing, and N is likewise with his struggle to accept himself as fully human, ESPECIALLY before he meets the protagonist of his respective sources (in this case Ash) and learns from them.

There's also the differences; N seems to have been naturally (hehe) born able to talk to Pokemon, whereas Meowth had to learn to speak with humans. This makes N someone inherently 'different', whereas Meowth made the choice himself.

Their personalities are also very clashing. N is both very gentle and stubborn. He's passionate, both about Pokemon and his hobbies. Meanwhile, Meowth is a bit more jaded and a little arrogant, though I would say you could also describe him as stubborn and passionate, though passionate for his own causes.

Meowth is also a bit selfish by nature of being a villain, and takes enjoyment out of his villainy (though of course Team Rocket's villainy is very limited compared to most other Pokemon villains). N, on the other hand, has a bit of a savior/hero complex he needs to learn to relax on (see above, N accidentally being rude to Meowth by suggesting he shouldn't speak English).

What i would have liked most about them interacting / clashing on screen is that Meowth is direct, evident proof of N's ideals being flawed.

Meowth chooses the humans' company over the pokémons' (which doesn't make sense when pokémon are inherently better than humans)

He is actively evil, not good & honest & docile like all pokémon are in N's worldview

He chose to be more like humans, chose to learn human talk, and prefers speaking it (which again, in N's worldview such a thing could just not happen)

N might argue that Meowth did not CHOOSE that, that he was forced into it by humans, by hurt, by this horrible world

And while that perhaps did also play a part

It is NOT the only reason. It WAS a decision. And denying that equals denying Meowth of his agency

Denying a pokémon of his agency. Which pretty much contradicts the core principle at N's ideals.

So, Meowth would have been a great asset to throw N's hypocrisy in his face. I love Ash being his greatest foil / the one to open his eyes, but i would have loved Meowth playing a part in it as well.

What makes it even more beautiful, is the irony of both of them being vehement fighters for the independence of pokémon.

Meowth's beliefs are kind of in between Ash and N. He also thinks that humans can be oppressive, and decides for himself that he doesn't want to be owned.

But he does realize that it's not always like this. Jessie's and James' pokémon chose to be with them and the last time Meowth ever questioned that was EP017. Humans can be good, Jessie and James treat him as an equal, as a friend.

He is fighting for the independence of pokémon because he simply understands that pokémon are just as clever and worth as much as humans and should get to choose if they want a human to catch them.

Unlike N, who has also thrown the dangerous idea into the mix that all humans (except him and his sisters and later Ash i guess) are inherently evil.

Mm, I quite agree and I loved your input! Meowth does suggest that he'd like to capture Pikachu in front of N to upset him, but other than that, I don't believe we really get much else out of it.

If we had seen Meowth continue to go out of his way to bother N, to give an example N may be able to see, as you mentioned, it may prove to N that Pokemon have the capacity for bad. Or, perhaps N would attempt to "rescue" Meowth from Jessie and James, only to see that Meowth was actually quite content with them, and considered an equal (the point you mentioned as well that to "rescue" Meowth from Team Rocket would be to deny his agency, which inherently conflicts with N's ideals, fits nicely here). I believe the latter could actually have done wonders to promote N's 'seeing the moral grey areas' arc, since I'm sure he could very well see Jessie and James as horrible people at first, given his introduction to them. Realizing that people like Ash, who is quite friendly to everyone, can have true partnerships with Pokemon is one thing. Seeing people like Jessie and James, who N saw as bad from the beginning, have true partnerships with Pokemon would be its own beast for him entirely, and could promote the idea to him that "good" does not simply look like what he, Concordia and Anthea do, (and conversely that "bad" does not just look like Ghetsis in a dark, decrepit castle, coming up with schemes to harm Pokemon).

He could even begin to relate to Jessie and James. Relating to a human, aside from his sisters, would be a major step for N. It may hit very close to home for him that they have such deep loyalty to an organization, despite the harm that is does, although Jessie and James' experience is fairly different from N's.

Ah! Forgive the length, but that last paragraph made me realize what good foils Jessie and James are to N, as well! N served Team Plasma under the assumption he was doing good, only to realize it was evil. Jessie and James serve Team Rocket under the assumption they are doing just as much evil as the rest of it, only... Not quite.

I think it would be very fascinating to explore that idea if the arc where Meowth goes undercover as "reformed" and the arc where N travelled with the main trio had coincided, as well, but this is getting a tad too long, so I will cut myself off here and make another post in the near future discussing how I think such an arc might go.
