       Michael nodded at him solemnly, her experience with obscured sensors made her inherently cautious when it happened. There was no way to know what exactly was out there or what kind of danger they might be facing. They had received a request for assistance from the planet below them though, and they were Starfleet, which meant that they would be sending a team despite the danger.

“ We should send a small team, ”  she said unnecessarily, Gabriel Lorca was not a cowardly man in the slightest, he was definitely already planning a team, possibly including himself.

Also fun fact the Vulcan salute is half of a Jewish prayer (you make that gesture with both hands and touch your thumbs and forefingers while saying a prayer over a child so that they’ll… wait for it… live long and prosper). 

Vulcans are space Jews, no backsies.

AND!!!! Star Trek: Voyager proved that religion canonically hasn’t been abandoned in the future, as Chakotay was very religious. So basically anyone that claims this is a fake fan (as well as being Christian-normative).

This isn’t entirely accurate—Leonard Nimoy, z’’l, based it off the priestly benediction/blessing, which is essentially the Vulcan salute with two hands. It isn’t performed only over children and your hands don’t have to touch (this may depend on the movement but my current rabbis def don’t!). And while it’s very similar to live long and prosper—and there is a definite connection to be made—the priestly benediction is done to ward against evil and as a symbol of protection.

But yes, Vulcans are absolutely space Jews!!
