Katrina rolled over in bed, staring at Lorca’s scarred back with a slight grin. She didn’t reach out to touch him- the slight paralytic from last night would definitely have worn off and she didn’t fancy a knife anywhere delicate this early in the morning. She slipped out of bed and into a warm bathrobe, picking at the exotic fruits at the table in her quarters before deciding to wake her guest.
“Morning, Gabriel,” she greeted the other with a grin. It wouldn’t be out of character for her to have a near death experience right about now, but that was half the fun. Gabriel certainly made for an interesting bedmate.

Saru had the bridge; he wasn’t sure where Captain Lorca was, but he would guess down in Engineering. If he was on shift and wasn’t on the bridge, the captain tended to be preoccupied with the spore drive. It was understandable--Saru would have rather not had anything to do with technology that had somehow ended up involving human experimentation, but since it was too late for that now, at least the captain was paying attention.
Otherwise, the bridge was quiet, Saru’s monitor spitting back the expected numbers, until Lieutenant Bryce called across the bridge, “We’re getting a distress signal.”
“Where is it coming from?” Saru asked, turning towards him.
“A planet--non-Federation, Class M,” the lieutenant was tapping at the panel. “I’ll try to raise them and get a more precise lock.”
Saru nodded and hit his own com. Captain Lorca would want to know immediately, spore drive or not. “Captain,” Saru said, “We’re receiving a distress signal from a nearby planet.” With Georgiou, he might have requested her presence on the bridge; with Lorca, he wouldn’t presume.

tribble therapy with Lorca
Ash just, carefully touching this trilling tribble, talking about how hard the torture was, and how he had to last just One More Day.
When Lorca had requested her presence for a diplomatic mission, Michael had been surprised to say the least. She wasn’t a particularly diplomatic figure by any account but he had insisted, despite both her and Saru’s objections. As he was the captain, they had no choice but to agree and Michael was dismissed to gather what she might need for the trip.
Dismissed by Lorca, that is. Saru, on the other hand, followed her all the way to her room - thankfully staying outside while still lecturing her about events she couldn’t change and demanding she bring their captain back safely. As if she hadn’t done everything within her power to save Captain Georgiou, as if her death doesn’t haunt her dreams, her every waking minute.
Saru was still following her by the time she made it to Lorca’s ready room, so she gathered her breath and gave Saru a withering look while she knocked on the door. The hint was received as he retreated once the door opened. With him gone, Michael stepped through the threshold, allowing herself to give into her own - and Saru’s - doubts. “Captain, I know you’ve made your decision but I would like to know, why do you want me to come along? I fear my presence may do more harm than good.”
