I draw a lot of different AUs and this one is my favorite 💥💥💥
You obey, I obey.
It’s great that Mobius spends all of episode 2 calling Loki arrogant, but is somehow completely shocked that Loki escapes custody at the end of the episode. Like what did you think was gonna happen dude? You spent all episode being condescending and smug about being able to read Loki, being really noncommittal about even giving Loki a chance to not die once he does his job; of COURSE he’s gonna leave the second he gets an opportunity!
You hire a trickster, constantly brag about him being predictable, and then when it happens it’s all shocked pikachu face xD
I’m more baffled at people calling this a “betrayal”. Loki was never loyal to TVA, wtf are you guys watching? He was their prisoner, wrongfully detained according to any normal laws and set to being exploited and then killed, and he escaped at the first opportunity as any normal person would do in his place.
Yes to all of this.
Betrayal needs some kind of loyal engagement to really be a betrayal. If you’re forced to work for/help someone, getting away is not betrayal but getting your freedom back.
Loki has good reasons to think that he has more chances to be killed by the TVA than by the person he’s following through the portal.
Perhaps the perspective of betrayal comes from the willingness to accept Mobius as a good guy (or at least not an evil guy lmao) and a possible friend. Hence the betrayal to him specifically.
Maybe where some see condescending, and indeed contrary, others see challenging and different, which is what I think the writers were going for.
But, you know, gurl. Come on. Like, he might be a friend in the end but he isn’t one now. It’s just common sense my pals.
Look, even if Mobius weren’t a condescending tool who has already participated in torturing Loki and made a hobby of belittling him—even if his disposition towards Loki was just plain friendly at every available opportunity—Loki is still a slave. The way this is getting glossed over by so many people, including the head writer and director, is seriously grating on my nerves. Mobius is not Loki’s mentor, or his friend, or his colleague, or even his boss. He’s Loki’s captor. When a slave escapes captivity, whether they had a “nice” slavemaster or an utterly cruel one, they are not betraying the person who enslaved them; they are liberating themselves, as any reasonable person would want to do.
But also, to me, this is just a more extreme version of calling him “faking” his death at the end of TDW a betrayal. In both cases, his actions are stripped of all context either for the sake of cheap jokes or due to confirmation bias; the context in both cases being that he is fighting for his right to not be imprisoned or executed. Consider that much like Thor has promised to return Loki to his cell after all is said and done in TDW, Mobius has made it clear that if Loki doesn’t prove himself useful, he’ll be “pruned” killed. So not only is it perfectly reasonable to want to escape captivity for freedom’s sake, but there’s every chance he’ll be blamed for this mission going sideways and Mobius and/or his bosses will decide it’s not worth keeping him around after all.
#it’s additionally frustrating because i think we all know damn well that were this any character not named loki #we wouldn’t be having this conversation #like #can you imagine anyone framing thor escaping from sakaar in ragnarok as him betraying the grandmaster? #of course you can’t because it’s absurd #but it’s literally the exact same situation #the only difference is in how people are framing it #and they’re only framing it that way because it’s loki (tags via @nikkoliferous)
mobius: *literally tells loki his life is dependent on how well he works for them, literally says he’ll prune loki himself, literally tells him this is his last chance*
loki: *runs when he can*

Laid back sketching. Sketching is so much easier on tablet with screen I love it ( Now I need time to do it 😭)
Anyway, does anyone know the pain when your cat stepped into something they shouldn't step in? 😭
quick doodle cuz I can’t sleep
I don't see this sketch getting finished any time soon, so I'm just posting it as is.
