Colombo, Sri Lanka
“Our goal is to increase the number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka, that’s why we are running a survey in order to understand what should be done. Would you like to participate?”
“Of course.”
Colombo, Sri Lanka
No English, but he was pointing the Christian cross the whole time with a big smile.
Colombo, Sri Lanka
“Are our coconuts better than the ones of your country?”
“We don’t have coconuts in Europe.”
“I thought we can find them everywhere. You better drink as much as you can before you go back home.”
Colombo, Sri Lanka
“What is the worst experience you had with a client?”
“The drunk ones. They sleep during the ride, and because I have to zigzag between cars, some of them fall and hurt themselves.”
Tangalle, Sri Lanka
“I have traveled to Europe.”
“Did you like it?”
“Yes, but your food is tasteless, and people look depressed.”
Ella, Sri Lanka
“Do you like Sri Lankan food?”
“Yes, I really do.”
“Then you will have the best one ever in my restaurant.”
Ella, Sri Lanka
No English unfortunately, but a beautiful smile.
Ella, Sri Lanka
“I studied history, but couldn’t get a job. Selling jewelry is something I enjoy better than any other job.”
“How come?”
“Jewelry are the best gift you can offer to a lady. You should buy some to yours by the way.”
Ella, Sri Lanka
Seen in tea plantation.

“I just got my visa approved to work in the United Arab Emirates. I will be going in 1 month, work for 2 years, save some money and come back home to finally start a business.”
“Are you married?”
“Yes, and I have a daughter.”
Tangalle, Sri Lanka
“What do you wish for your students?”
“I hope they will persevere until they get graduated. Then, I wish to see them immigrate to a wealthier country to help their family.”
Matara, Sri Lanka
“I lost my house during the last tsunami. That’s why I moved here to find a job with better money, so I can rebuild our house.”
Matara, Sri Lanka
“it’s Buddha time.”

Shiraz, Iran
“Why have you had a nose job?”
“Because everyone does. Most of the girls in Iran get a nose job when they can afford it, it’s common.”
“Did you pay for it?”
“It was my parent’s present after high school.”
Shiraz, Iran
“One day I went with my dad to the hospital, meanwhile he was parking the car, 3 guys came to me, without any word put a bag on my head then dragged me quietly to a car. In the car, they told me only one sentence; we are National Security. It’s funny, but I was kind of reassured when I heard that.”
“What’s happen after that?”
“They kept me some days in jail asking me questions about my political affiliation to a stupid Communist party that doesn’t exist anymore and try to charge me for plot against the country’s security. I always rejected that. I wasn’t affiliated to any movement, I was just part of the protest. It was during the Green Revolution.”
“How did it end up?”
“My dad had to bribe around. They couldn’t charge me for anything, except some stupid Facebook messages and some suspicious about my sexual orientation.”
“Are you gay?”
“Yes.”
