Heathers Week 2026 Day 7 - Crossover
For the final day of Heathers Week, I will be talking about a Heathers x Pokemon crossover. It was the first post I ever posted about Heathers on Tumblr, and since then I've had a lot more thoughts about it, so this will be like an updated version of that
In the Ohio Region, it is common for those who plan on entering Pokemon-related fields after high school to go on a journey, a trip around the region where they can meet all kinds of People and Pokemon, meeting lifelong friends and hopefully a place to find a job
Veronica, currently in training to become a Pokemon research assistant under Prof. Fleming, was planning on going on a journey with her friend Martha
She didn't really know what she was looking for and was really only going on a journey because Fleming was all but making her and Martha wanted to
Martha and Veronica were each others only friends, and while it wasn't uncommon for people to go alone, it was generally more fun and manageable when with friends
And while Veronica wouldn't tell Martha this, she was worried about her going off on her own
Martha had a big heart and she was worried about her being taken advantage of by shady figures who took advantage of her sweet nature
Martha dreamed of being a Pokemon Contest Star, and was planning on traveling around the region in order to collect 5 Ribbons to be able to enter into the Grand Contest, where she could be noticed by fashion companies and the like
While Martha recognized that she was not conventionally attractive and was a little overweight, she hoped that her entry and success could help other people like her enter the contest scene
Veronica found this to be an admirable goal and wanted to support Martha with her dreams
As she waited for Martha to finish packing her stuff on the street outside her house, she heard shouting coming from down the street
She rushed over, finding three unfortunately familiar women with two equally unfortunately familiar men backing them into a corner with their pokemon
Kurt and Ram were backing the Heathers into an alleyway, their Houndour and Maschiff aggressively barking at them
Hiding around the corner, she heard the idiot jocks demand the Heathers hand over their money and Pokemon
Now Veronica did not like any of the people involved here, they had bullied her and especially Martha for years, tricking her into coming to a party with a fake love note only to humiliate her with a Oinkolonge Pinata dressed up as her
For a second she thought about just letting Kurt and Ram rob them, but she reckoned that would only make her as bad as them, and so instead she let her Squirtle out of its Pokeball and ordered it to use Water Gun on Ram's Maschiff, choosing to use the surprise to hit the Pokemon she doesn't have a type-advantage against and would therefore be harder to defeat
A stream of water was pushed out of Squirtle's mouth and hit Maschiff directly, knocking it back into the concrete wall, knocking it out
Before Kurt had a chance to react she ordered Squirtle to use BubbleBeam on Houndour, the water-type move making quick work of the fire-type
Now five pairs of eyes were on her
Kurt and Ram started moving towards her in an agressive way, telling her that she must be suicidal if she was getting in the way of Team Rottweiler, and that they don't need their Pokemon to take her stuff
Suddenly she heard three simultaneous shouts; "Leafage", "Ember" and "Thundershock", the elemental attacks hitting Kurt and Ram while their backs were turned and knocking them to their knees
The two of them quickly got up, recalled their fainted pokemon, gave each other a look and dipped the fuck out of there, leaving Veronica with the Heathers and their Pokemon, Treecko, Torchic and Mareep
For a long moment none of them spoke, until Heather McNamara awkwardly made her way over and thanked Veronica for stopping Kurt and Ram, explaining they had joined a group called Team Rottweiler, a criminal organization seeking money, power and influence
Veronica admitted that she was not surprised that the high school has-beens joined a crime group
Chandler then interjected, explaining that as thanks, they owed her a boon, whatever she wanted
While Veronica took a minute to think it over, she knew all of the Heathers were rich and Heather McNamara's father bred rare Pokemon
They also agreed to exchange phone numbers, and while they did that Martha walked over, stopping dead in her tracks as she saw Veronica acting friendly with her bullies
Upon seeing her Veronica started to speak, telling Martha that she was sorry for going AWOL but she heard some screaming and-
Martha cut her off, explaining that she knew exactly what was going on here, she was in league with the Heathers to humiliate her one final time
The Heathers looked extremely confused as Veronica again tried explaining what happened, but when she got to the part about Ram Martha cut her off, saying that Ram would never do something like that
Veronica then was like Martha he was part of the whole Pinata incident a few months back, but Martha still refused to accept it, stating that it was all their idea (she points to the Heathers, who are standing there looking guilty)
After some more back and forth Martha storms off, not before telling Veronica to enjoy having new friends who are popular
Veronica is literally so confused, Martha is acting super out-of-character, they'd been friends for years and she makes up all these assumptions that their friendship is over and she's in league with the Heathers because she caught them talking?
Before she can think on that any further she hears an ohhhhhh coming from Heather McNamara who says that she just realized who she was, that girl who hung around Martha Dumptruck all the time and had that really ugly scarf
Enraged by her comments, she realizes that high school is over and she has no reason to fear them anymore, and so she decides to just ask what the fuck was their problem
Chandler simply comments that it was a kill or be killed world, and they chose to kill
Veronica retorts that they were the ones who made it a kill or be killed world, only for Chandler to laugh and state that she really had no idea how things worked, did she?
Unable to come up with a good enough response, Veronica instead decides to challenge her to a battle
Chandler, never one to back down from a challenge, decides what the heck and agrees
Its a very one sided battle, Chandler has the type disadvantage and her Torchic isn't bulky enough to take more than one direct Water Gun
Veronica declares herself the winner and says that she's figured out what she wants for her reward, they are to apologize to Martha and figure out how to make it up to her, and until that time they are to travel with her to make sure that they actually do it
Chandler groans loudly and audibly but Mac turns to her and says that they did promise her something, so Chandler very reluctantly agrees
This entire time Duke has been doing her best Sudowoodo impression, that is to say trying to stay as completely still as possible in hopes that no one will notice her, but that fails as Veronica calls her out, saying that she is particular needs to apologize to Martha for what happened in Middle School
Duke turns pale as a ghost-type but gives a small nod in response
And so the four of them set off
Their plan is simple, Martha is going for Contests, so they will set off for cities that have Contests in hopes of running into her
It also just so happens that Heather McNamara is also aiming to be a Contest Star, so the Heathers would also have been going to these cities anyway
Veronica, after traveling a while in uncomfortable silence, figures that she's gonna be stuck with the Heathers for at least a little while, and so decides to get to know them a little better
She learns that Heather Chandler is taking on Gym Circuit, which she's not really that surprised about
The Circuit's whole thing is about proving that you're the best of the best, and if she knows one thing about Heather Chandler, its that she is prideful and needs to be the best
Internally, she figures Chandler will probably fail and give up around Gym 4
Heather Duke is training to be a Pokemon Ranger and is planning on visiting the various Ranger Stations around the region and learning from each of them and seeing where she'd like to be stationed once she passes her certifications
That one actually surprises her, Rangers help protect the environment and the Pokemon living within it, and she wouldn't expect a Heather to do something so selfless
A little more in line with her expectations is Heather McNamara's goal, who as stated above wants to be a contest star
She knows that McNamara was the Head Cheerleader of their football team, the Mabostiffs, so a performance-based career seems like something right up her alley
What did surprise her was something she learned later
They had been traveling for several hours and they noticed the sun getting lower, so they set up base for the night, with there being no Pokemon Center for a while
As Veronica is setting up her tent, she notices that the Heathers only brought one tent, which wouldn't be so unusual, like it saves space and the tent is easily big enough for the three of them, except for the fact they only had one rather large sleeping bag
With her gaydar going off like crazy, Veronica decides to just outright ask why they only had one sleeping bag
She gets three different answers in quick succession
D: It gets cold at night, we preserve body heat better this way (It was the beginning of summer)
C: We share so we don't have to each carry one
M: I get lonely at night and like to cuddle
The other two gave Mac a look before she scrambled and said that it was because of the cold thing
Yeah Veronica didn't believe them for a second, those bitches are gay
But she's not gonna make them come out before they're ready to, because unlike them she is a nice person, so she bids them goodnight before heading into her own tent
I was gonna finish this but then I realized just how long that will probably take, so in the interest of actually getting this out today I'm gonna cut if off here and make a part 2+ later
