Claws scrabble against loose earth and lichen-covered wet rock, Wisteriapaw's tail lashing as he fights his way back up onto solid ground, wet fur doing nothing to help the matter.

He'd come to mothermouth at his mentor's behest, and with honestly very little reluctance for his own part. The only truly unpleasant part being the bitter herbs the surgeon had given him before he set out on the day's trip.

He just hadn't expected it to be so wet.

Entering mothermouth he'd quickly learned the path was a long, winding cave with mossy lichens lining every wall and water pooling on the ground to the point he found himself having to swim in areas, the whole cave a rather unpleasantly warm and humid affair.

He couldn't quite shake the feeling of being swallowed.

But Wisteriapaw was nothing if not persistant, pushed by thoughts of starclan's holy meeting place between themselves and the cats currently living at the end. He just had to reach it first.

As solid ground grew more sparse and water more abundant, he found himself either swimming or attempting to make jumps that left his muscles burning afterwards. Claws scrabbling to hook his way up narrow ledges.

But, his persistance was rewarded as the cave finally opened up. Before him stretching a beautiful dimly crystal-lit room. And in the center, the unique abundance of water and strange light had allowed a truly massive tree to grow, branches shimmering with hanging crystals. Before him neatly sat a single dimly lit figure.

In the dim glow, the unfamiliar starlit cat could have almost been another trick of the light. But no, Wisteriapaw knew what this was.

And he was ready.
