My poke trivia is minimal, but I doodled this ghost type trio weeks back when the announcement of the pokemon sword and shield region happened. I think I can change the names to be better puns but my attachment to these is strong
Here’s a photo from last autumn :)
The Pride Flag Planets, all together! My lil’ rainbows 🏳🌈
(series here) (patterns here)
I love them oh so much❤️
Test of concept for my sister’s wedding cake! The plan is for a ‘naked’ Red Velvet cake with cream cheese buttercream. My mum suggested adding chocolate ganache between the layers to make it a bit more rich and chocolatey. It turned out pretty well!
Little project I’m working on :) photo taken in the park
From a few weeks ago - Wild garlic and the soup made from same :) all very blog friendly photos but actually this soup was way too strong haha. Dunno if I needed to dilute the taste with some spinach or suchlike or just cook it for longer...
Saturday: went to the zoo, saw a red panda :) Also we saw the seals being fed (my fave, such good boys! - yes they were all boys, a bachelor group) and the otters and penguins. Zoos can make me kind of uncomfortable but the animals seemed well cared for and this one is also a big conservation charity :) I relate to the red panda so much. Naps always.
I haven’t left yet!
I was in London on Monday and Tuesday taking part in the Extinction Rebellion protest across the city. I haven’t been super involved in the movement since it started but it nonetheless feels very close to me. I’ve been incredibly impressed by everyone who’s actively taken part, from serving food and driving equipment to welfare, legal observers, and front-line activists. Here’s a poem I wrote for the people stuck in traffic:
EYES ON THE ROAD
You’re tired, you’re hungry You want to get home but the bridge has been blocked: At this rate you won’t be back by eight o’clock. Now imagine you’ve grieved for seventeen years. Imagine seeing islands wiped out through your tears. Do the home and the family you’re driving to see Have enough space for your new refugees?
You want to get home but the bridge has been blocked You’re starting to think it’ll be nine o’clock.
Now think of a bird’s call you know by ear Its sound, too, is drowned It’ll soon disappear.
In millions of years if you’re still driving home Will the fuel in your car be these bodies and bones?
Keep driving and keeping your fear behind you. Don’t look ahead where the sun could blind you. We hope you’re home soon. Please forgive us your time. You have your road and I have mine.
Here’s a photo I took yesterday.
Today was odd, but I got a weird sense of hope/progress out of accepting my feelings (mostly of stress/disappointment) rather then dwelling on them. While waiting for technology troubles to sort themselves I took half an hour out to go and discover a local mini park square and ‘meditate’ (close my eyes for 5 minutes). When I opened them, I had weekend plans :)
Bit of hope for the day!

This is cool - technology which is upscaling the planting of trees to restore forests. Super interesting, particularly with mangroves. This article goes into a bit of depth about the work with the local community too - the hope is that local people are incentivised to prioritise restoration.
Here’s a photo to kick things off. My camera is just a lil point-and-click but I enjoy going out and finding unusual things to photograph. This was in November time, and I was living in quite an uninspiring place and in circumstances which were very bad for me. I found the wintry front gardens between my home and the shops a surprisingly good source of some interesting shots.
No more zero days.
Given my history here, it seems like an unwise thing to put my faith in, but I’m hoping to reboot this blog as a way to start to boost my mental health and get back into the things I care about. Content is likely to include some #cooking, some *very* amateur #nature photography, probably a bit of #games and d&d, and maybe some #plantID. Today was not the best day mental health wise but I made and froze some curry, cooked a stir fry for supper, and went for a short walk up the local hill. I also cried on the phone and petted a good dog. I don’t want to make any promises to myself about what will show up on this blog but if you want to see if I can do half of what I said, watch this space. Sending out love to the Internet from this humble nerd’s heart, Sunflower
Something I did today that I didn’t take a photo of: went out for brunch with my parents :) Photos of something I did recently: From Hallowe’en - made this lil lady from some pipe cleaners and some stuff I had lying around. Sort of just a stupid experiment, she lives permanently on that cupboard now hah
