Stopping Your Heart || Angel & Jack
Angel paced outside of the apartment complex, taking in her last few moments of sunlight, as she went back and forth in her mind about what was to happen tonight. In spite of his many reassurances that he was okay with changing her, she couldn’t help but feel incredibly guilty for asking him to do so. This request was more than she could have ever asked from him, and although she is incredibly appreciative, Angel felt sick to her stomach from the guilt. As the sun set, she realized that she was cutting into her time with Jack, so she shook away the thoughts and pushed through the heavy doors into the building.
In the hopes of making it a memorable night for many reasons, Angel decided to elevate her style. Although sexy, her usual jeans, stilettos and form-fitting top was a bit to familiar and she wanted to look like something Jack would want to flaunt, even though that wasn’t quite his style to her knowledge. Her black crushed-velvet dress ended a few inches up from her knee, and showed off her figure with a fitted bodess, sweetheart neckline, and halter strap. Her slick leather heels clicked on the floor in her usual fashion as she walked toward their room. The soft skin of her back was bear because of the halter straps, and her lips were painted with a deep burgundy.
Angel clutched the bottle of wine she got with Roxy, as if it were going to support her in some way through her nerves. Before opening the door, she took a deep breath and a smile suddenly spread across her face. Never before in her life, did Angel feel more loved than these last few days with Jack. “I am so lucky to have such a wonderful life.” She thought.
The smile stayed on her face as she opened the door and noticed the card and rose. Immediately she brought the rose to her nose and inhaled deeply, taking in the romantic fragrance. Her cheeks flushed red and she immediately looked up and around for Jack. As she finally located him in the kitchen, she had to double take as she saw her man in a suit and bowtie. “Oh my gosh Jack….” Angel all but ran over to him and planted a passionate kiss on his lips. “I love this… but more so I love you… so damn much.” She smiled up at him and then snaked her fingers into his bowtie pulling it forward and loosening it a tad. “You are far too good to me my love.” Angel handed him the bottle of wine. “I’m sorry that I don’t have something better to offer, but I figured I’d get us a nice bottle of Morvedre to celebrate us.”
As Jack heard the front door open and Angel's unmistakeable footsteps enter the apartment, he couldn't help but smile, anticipating her reaction. He wasn't disappointed, as she kissed him as soon as she saw him. He ducked his head in embarrassment as she complimented him, never comfortable with too much attention. "It's nothing, really... And besides, I used your credit card." He grinned, teasing her. "I love you too. More than anything." Jack pressed his lips against hers, feeling more comfortable now that his bowtie had been loosened slightly.
"Look at you." He stepped back, holding her at arms length and looking her up and down. "You are so beautiful. So incredibly beautiful." Even before he had fallen for her, he couldn't deny that there was something special about the way she held herself; almost arrogant in her movements, but with a hint of insecurity that only those closest to her could pick up on. The way she was dressed tonight only served to accentuate her beauty; looking as though she should be on the cover of a magazine. The flush of her skin that was so obviously human, her hair shining with what Jack could only describe as life.
Realising he had been looking at her for far too long, he smiled softly, taking the bottle of wine from her. "Morvedre, hey? I guess it really is a special night." He winked at her before placing the bottle on the countertop. "Shall we have a pre dinner drink, or are you feeling particularly hungry?" He was quiet for a moment, before continuing to speak in a soft tone. "I figured, since this was your last night as a human, you might as well go out with a nice last meal." It sounded ridiculous to his ears, but he hoped that Angel would appreciate the meaning. "I'm sorry, I'm not really good at the whole romance thing. It's been a long time since I've done anything remotely like take someone to dinner. I don't know if it's too much, or too little.." Jack trailed off, knowing he was rambling. "I just want your last night as a human to be perfect."
Stopping Your Heart || Angel & Jack
Jack did up the final button on his shirt, pushing his hair back into place. He had bought himself a suit for the first time, wanting to do better than his usual jeans-and-jacket combo. Tonight was the night he was supposed to change Angel, and he wanted the occasion to be special in more way than one. He was doing whatever he could to keep his mind off of what would happen at the end of the night, knowing that if he thought about it too much, his nerves would probably give out.
He wandered aimlessly into the kitchen, waiting for Angel to come home. He had left a rose on the floor just inside the front door, and a card inviting her to one of the towns more romantic restaurants. Jack had never really been one for romance, and he had no idea whether or not he was doing the right thing, or going way too overboard.
Pouring himself a glass of water, he settled himself against the counter. The bowtie he wore was uncomfortably tight, and he felt awkward standing around in the kitchen, dressed in a suit. More than anything, he just wanted Angel to be happy, and for that, he was willing to do anything.
Jack was on his own, wandering the streets of the town with no real sense of direction. He had plenty to think about, and had escaped the apartment to give himself time to think. He rounded the corner and realized that he had, inadvertently, made his way to the bar. Shoving...
Jack frowned when she insisted she was like this all the time. "Well, you've never been like this to me before. Granted, we didn't talk much after the whole town found out I was a hunter, but still." Crossing his arms, he watched her silently as she continued to smoke. His instincts told him something was off; something was different about her, but he couldn't tell what it was. "If you find them relaxing, what's got you stressed? I could help." He shrugged, not wanting to seem to invasive.
Kyra had come out that night, she needed to let her hair down and maybe cause a little bit of trouble. She stood outside the bar, having a smoke when she heard somebody saying it kills. She groaned slightly, rolling her eyes.”Yeah, yeah I’ve heard all the stories of how this is going to kill me. I don’t care”. She took a long drag and turned to them, blowing the smoke in their face.
Jack was on his own, wandering the streets of the town with no real sense of direction. He had plenty to think about, and had escaped the apartment to give himself time to think. He rounded the corner and realized that he had, inadvertently, made his way to the bar. Shoving his hands in his pockets, Jack made his way towards the entrance before noticing that the person smoking against the wall was, in fact, Laura. "That'll kill you, you know." He smirked as she responded, leaning against the wall with his shoulder. He tsked disapprovingly as she blew smoke into his face, turning away before the acrid smell burned his lungs. "Someone's in a bad mood." Jack coughed, frowning. "It's been a long time since I smoked. Don't think I'm missing out on much."

Angel kissed him back, putting her arms around him and holding him as tight as she possibly could to her, not wanting any distance whatsoever between them. As he began to speak, she still held him close, feeling more connected in this moment before any before. She felt the sentiment behind his words, and understood what he intended with it, but she couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. Although in that moment she was his angel, moments later he had realized what she had done, and found that she ruined what he wanted in life. She got an even sicker feeling in her stomach, as she just thought about how much she hurt him, and irreparably so. As the conversation about turning her progressed, this feeling grew and she realized how disgusted with herself she really was. Biting her lip hard, she only snapped out of it when she realized she drew blood. She licked her lip trying to take away the blood but she just ignored it. Shaking off the bad thoughts she looked back up and kissed him. “I love you too Jack, enough about that though… We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it…”
Jack frowned as Angel bit her lip, seemingly upset about something. The unmistakeable smell of blood filled the air and Jack tensed, realising that she had bitten her lips so hard she had caused them to bleed. "Angel.." He put his hand up to wipe away the blood, worried for her, but paused midway, realising he was spending far too long looking at the blood on her lips. He took a small step back, trying to act as though nothing was wrong. Smiling softly as she kissed him, he nodded in agreement. "Agreed. We'll just... take it as it comes."
"You said it… not me." Angel laughed and then smiled up at him. "I would never give up on you, love. See the thing is, I couldn’t possibly give up on you at this point, because I need you, more then I need anything. You are apart of me as much as my skin, or my heart, I could never just give up." Angel looked down, embarrassed for explaining her dependence for the first time. She always presented as an independent woman, but in reality, she needed this person. Angel smirked up at him. "Look at you, Mr. Hunter, getting all soft," she teased him.
"I’m not worried about the pain." Angel said bluntly. "I just… keep feeling more and more guilty about asking you to do this. I shouldn’t have asked you. Its wrong of me to ask you.. to kill me." She looked down, and then as he made the analogy to when they first met. "Well then you’d have to do it when I am asleep, because you and I know who won those fights." Angel smirked. She put her hand on his face and stroked his cheek. "Are you sure? You don’t have to babe."
Jack kept quiet, listening to Angel as she admitted that she was dependent on him. He smiled softly before kissing her, trying to convey just how much he loved her. "I honestly don't know what I would do without you." Jack looked down, equally uncomfortable with talking about how dependant he was on Angel. "The first person I saw when I was turned was you. You looked like an angel. Whenever I start doubting things, I remember that moment. It's stupid, I know." He shuffled his feet on the ground, still having trouble with expressing his feelings.
Jack smiled softly when she joked about having to be asleep, but the smile didn't reach his eyes. "I'll do it, Angel. I'll do it, because I love you. I want nothing more than for you to be happy. And if this will make you happy, then I'll do it."
Angel shook her head. “I disagree. I wouldn’t call you boring, I would call you consistent. You tastes don’t change, you are always the same man, but you are far from boring. Everything about you interests me.” She smirked, “besides, how could you be boring with me in your life? I always change things up.” Angel smiled into the kiss he returned her gesture. Her heart fluttered with a butterfly feeling that she only got (since she became human) when jack was around.
Angel shook her head and went to dispute him, but his finger under her chin stopped her. She looked up at him and took in every single word. As much as the sentiment meant to her, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt for asking him to do that for her. Pulling his hand from her chin, she held it in her hand and kissed it slowly before looking up at him with vulnerably honest eyes. “Jack, you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to… I know the concept is nothing you agree with, but you know that I have to die with your blood in my system….” Angel hoped that he understood what that meant he had to do.
"Consistent is the kind way of saying boring." Despite the self-deprecating nature of his humor, Jack couldn't help but laugh softly. "Ah, you're too kind to me, Angel. Anyone else would've given up long ago." His kissed the tip of her nose, smiling as she insisted his life couldn't be boring with her around. "My life was much simpler before you came along, that's for sure. Sometimes I miss it; the simplicity. Things weren't... complicated." Jack stroked her cheek softly. "But I wouldn't have it any other way."
Jack fell silent as she spoke about what he would have to do in order to change her. "I have to kill you. I know." His voice was soft. "I'll... I'll do it quickly. It'll hurt, but I'll do my best to make it as quick as possible. Okay?" He was nervous already; the idea that, in just a few hours, he'd kill Angel making him sick to his stomach. "Well, you know, all I'll have to do is think about when we first met. I wanted to kill you then." Jack tried to joke, but failed miserably. "It's okay. We can do this. I can do this."
Angel smiled and then laughed as he pulled her back and turned her to him. A radiant smile was practically glued to her face, because in this moment there was nothing else that she possibly could ask for. “To be honest, love, even if we were in a cement room with nothing in it, I couldn’t get bored with you around.” Angel noticed how he called her the love of his life, but she didn’t know what to say. She felt as though no words that she could concoct would measure up to the sentiment behind his statement. Immediately, she pulled his face to hers and kissed him hard and with all the love she could muster.
When her feet touched the ground she looked up at him and put her hands on his hips, rubbing softly. “You don’t have to do all of that, love. You just being here is enough.”
Jack laughed. "When it boils down to it, I'm a very boring person. I'm just lucky you haven't had time to figure that out yet." Despite his joking attitude, Jack couldn't help but wonder just how long it would be before Angel found someone better than him. His doubts disappeared - at least momentarily - when she kissed him, and Jack could feel how much she loved him. He returned the kiss with just as much passion, closing his eyes and losing himself in the moment.
"You say that now, but I can see the look of disappointment on your face when there's no rose petals. I just know it." Jack smirked, before tilting her chin up so that she looked him in the eyes. "I love you more than you realise. Vampire, or human."
It always amazed her how much Jack loved her. In spite of the terrible decisions she has made and how much she has negatively effected him, she always received unconditional love from him. As he smirked, she bit her lip hard, knowing that he wanted her probably as much as she wanted him. Angel leaned in and whispered: “Can we please…” She kissed his ear lobe, “Do both…” She slowly kissed his neck, “I promise..” She kissed his chest, “It will be..” She kissed his stomach, “Worth your while..” Angel kissed his lips slowly. A sultry smirk occupied her face as she looked at the man with whom she wanted to spend her life with. Before he had time to answer she stepped back and began to walk toward the kitchen. “No.. maybe I will just heat you up a mug of blood and we can go have a date night.” Angel bit her lip, hoping he would take the bait she set.
Jack kept his eyes on Angel, unable to keep himself from smiling as she teased him. As he opened his mouth to speak, she took a step back, teasing him further. "Uh huh." He walked towards Angel, only having to take a couple of strides before he'd covered the distance. Capturing her in his arms, he spun her around, careful to make sure his tight grip didn't leave any bruises. "There is no way I'm having a boring old date night with the love of my life." He set her down on the floor gently, but kept his arms around her. "I'll go find some fancy candles and rose petals. Get some top-self wine. I can be romantic. Well, at least I can try."
[Angel’s cheeks flushed bright red as he commented about having her in his life.] Jack… that means so much. I love you.
[Angel kissed him again, and then pulled away smirking] Well… Maybe we can do both…?
I love you too.
{Jack smirked} If you ask nicely, I'll consider it.
[As she heard his negations, she wanted to assure him that she would find a way, but she wasn’t even sure if she could. In spite of its large improbability, she was still forever determined to change him back to human] Well.. I promise I will make this life as good as I possibly can for you. [Her heart was aching for him, and it took all of her strength to keep herself from crying. The sadness showed through her eyes in spite of her containment of betraying tears.]
[Angel smiled as she pulled away from the kiss. For a split second, as their lips locked, she forgot the plethora of depressed feelings that plagued her. She kept her face close to his and smiled] Tonight? We can have a date night, I’ll plan, and then before we go to bed, you can change me? It will be like any other night.
I know you will. And the fact that, despite everything, I still have you in my life... {Jack ducked his head, embarrassed at the emotion in his voice} It makes everything a little bit easier.
{Jack smiled} Tonight it is. Though, if you keep kissing me like that, we might find ourselves doing something other than turning you into a vampire.
[Angel looked up at him and listened intently to his words. Everything he said was fair and made complete sense. It made her feel even worse for intentionally shunning a gift she knew he would want.] I’m not going to say that I wish I hadn’t turned you, because if I didn’t I wouldn’t have learned how much I love you, but I do wish I didn’t have to. I will feel forever terrible about the fact that I took that choice away from you Jack… But… I will make it my life’s mission to find a way to change you back. I will find a way, love. [His sad smile just made her feel worse] If it is something you want to do, I would be absolutely honored for you to change me… [As he kissed her hands, she couldn’t help but smile.] I love you so much Jack. [She leaned in to kiss him lovingly]
Angel, there's no coming back from this. I am what I am; it's not something that you can fix. No matter how much I want to be human again, I have to live with the fact that this is my life now. And we can't change that.
{Jack smiled softly at Angel} Give me the word, and I'll do it for you. I promise. {As Angel leant in for a kiss, Jack happily obliged, softly kissing her}
[/Lips curving upwards slightly spotting his favourite hunter in the bar again, drink in hand, he approached from behind just as one of the clumsier patrons had knocked into the man’s shoulder. Christian’s hand going to the hunter’s shoulder, crossing boundaries already, holding him back slightly, undoubtedly trying to get under his skin again. /]
"Watch yourself, sunshine.
Let’s not draw too much attention to yourself again, eh?”
{Jack tensed when he felt a hand on his shoulder, holding him back from threatening the patron any further. Hearing the smug voice from behind him, Jack turned around, shoving his hand off his shoulder} Put your hands on me again, and you'll lose them. Got it?
