Might Not Be Gone
Maybe Tumblr isnât dead... Maybe youâll see more from me soon? Â We shall see. Â It doesnât really look like the adult content is gone, and maybe itâll get bought by PornHub. Â Weâll see. Â But I notice a lot of people I follow are still on here, so in that case, I guess maybe I wonât give up on it completely? Â I guess. Â Weâll see. Â It really became my favorite way to get content and Iâm sorry the people in charged forced an exodus... but some people are still here, so...
âLie close,â Laura said, Pricking up her golden head: âWe must not look at goblin men, We must not buy their fruits: Who knows upon what soil they fed Their hungry thirsty roots?â

My Last Post?
My first post on Tumblr was on October 15, 2015. I joined this community after some deliberation based upon seeing a lot of artists here being social in away I was not used to. Mostly it was about adult content. People seemed a lot more open and free to speak for them selves and how they felt about things and I really admired that.
But now we are on the verge of the collapse of Tumblr. Itâs been three years and two months, but I came here for the artist and the community and it looks like both are being evicted⌠I donât actually know if I will have any reason to stick around come December 18th.
This blog here hasnât had that many posts, and only two are actually flagged right nowâI donât actually know what to do about thatâbut I donât really use Tumblr for myself much. I use it to take in others... I periodically comment on other peopleâs posts, and primarily to view their artwork. If all of that is about to end, I donât really know what Iâd be doing hereâŚ
Letâs say I get back into programming my game or something⌠Who would I be talking to? This isnât going to be an open community anymore. There arenât going to be friendly people around able to talk about what they like and enjoy⌠All thatâs going to end tomorrow. I donât know that the type of work I want to create will be desirable to whatever audience is left hereâŚ
So I donât know if this is my last post; hence the question mark. Who knows what the future will bring? And if Iâm being totally honest? I donât see anyway Tumblr survives this anyway even if there are some people left to use it. I figured this has got to be the end of the platform. Those in charge shot themselves in the foot.
See you in the Future,
âHuntermun
So one of my tweets kinda blew up. :v

deviantART, Google, etcâs TOS
Everyone is panicking over TOS-es right now as they find a new home as Tumblr gets flushed down the toilet. I donât like those random TOS breakdowns because the analysis is always wrong.Â
Anyway this is what people pay me to do and I will now do it for $0 because Iâm tired of everyone spreading misinformation. This post is not a substitute for legal advice etc. Reblogs are appreciated because I literally see TOS nonsense on my dash every day.Â
Any more experienced copyright lawyers please feel free to weigh in - itâs part of my field yes, but my wheelhouse is more film production COT rather than derivative works.
Google Drive (TOS)
Google doesnât have rights to do whatever they want to files you upload to Google Drive
Their TOSes are annoyingly broad in drafting but essentially boilerplate clauses that they need to host your work, use google translate on it, make it searchable etc. They cannot steal your fanfic. They cannot modify your art and use it for whatever.
Your work MAY be threatened (that is, deleted) thanks to FOSTA/SESTA, which imo is a clown provision signed by a clown that sent safe harbour down the toilet. This and this has more information (Iâve skimmed but not perused both), but the tl;dr is: similar to Tumblr, there was a ham-fisted attempt to protect victims of sex trafficking and all it really did was make cloud based services start deleting user files whether relevant or not.Â
deviantART (Submission Policy) (TOS)
Uploading work to dA doesnât give them a license to sell it to Hot Topic. This post is incorrect. Debunked here and corrected by the artist himself here. Your art is safe.Â
Thereâs a breakdown of the TOS in there thatâs pretty much wrong on most points, if someone wants me to do a not-wrong version, ask. This may help.
All you really need to know is that like Google, I checked it over and nothing in there puts you at risk for dA asserting ownership over your work or selling it - they need those rights for thumbnails, search functions, resizing etc.Â
Sexually explicit fanart is not allowed, as well as âobscenityâ, which is an oddly broad term covering things like âsexually orientated commercial telephone messagesâ.Â
Iâm not aware of any content purges.
AO3 (TOS)
Yum. I like this one. Easy to read and clearly explained for most people with basic reading comprehension. Section G - What We Do With Content will tell you everything you need to know.
Basically, they have the same clauses about you granting AO3 a license to modify/apart/etc you work, but they take the trouble to explain to you exactly what that means, and how they use it to improve accessibility etc.Â
No history of content purges as far as I know. Explicit content is allowed with limits eg. no child porn.Â
Wordpress (TOS)
Same deal - youâre looking for 1. Wordpress - Responsibility of Contributors, with the exact same thing as everybody else. They also do a decent job of explaining what they use the license for (though once again, itâs standard), albeit not as beautifully as AO3.Â
However, images of sexual acts (including fanart) are against TOS.
I found no history of content purges.
Dreamwidth (TOS)
Same old standard licensing clause, again doesnât let them steal your stuff.
IncrediblyâŚopen content policiesâŚyou can basically do whatever you want so long as you donât break laws or commit fraud it seems? If Iâm wrong, feel free to correct.
Hope this helps. Feel free to force me to read and explain any other site TOS documents. Again, more experienced copyright lawyers, feel free to correct me if I clowned up somewhere.
reblogging as a correction to my last post re DevArt, although since DevArt still doesnât allow adult art, still not a great alternative to tumblr

Iâm SCREAMING
An Open Letter to Tumblr about the Adult Content Ban and How it is Hurting Your Users:
Recently, Tumblr was removed from the Apple app store due to an incident involving child pornography. This incident is incredibly unfortunate, but it doesnât stand alone. Tumblr was also removed from the app store due to the large influx of porn bots and pornographic spam, users claiming to be proud to be pedophiles, blatant Nazism, racists who are not deleted for sending hate and harassing users, and more. I myself reported someone for harassing me, but because I had blocked the person and couldnât access the messages where they harassed me, they were still able to send me anonymous asks. Your support staff, with back doors to the website (presumably), claimed they could not access the messages, and I was left SOL. Many features on this website do nothing to actually protect your users from harassment, racism, homophobia, transphobia, Nazis, pedophiles, predators, porn bots, and more.Â
You claim in your statement to us that you âhave been working on these problems for a long timeâ. This is blatantly untrue. Please do not lie to us and patronize us. Weâve been here. Weâve seen you do nothing over, and over, and over again.Â
We complained to you for months and months about the rampant porn bots, and you did nothing except add a report button on mobile which only reported sensitive content or spam at best. You could have addressed this problem with an effective algorithm, but you did not. We complained to you about being harassed and sent hate speech for being LGBT+, and you did nothing. We complained to you about blogs being randomly deleted, and sometimes youâve restored them, other times you have not. We complained to you that there were people proudly claiming to be âMinor Attracted Personsâ, or pedophiles, and you did nothing. We complained to you about people proudly claiming to be white supremacists, and you did nothing. All of these things are âagainst the community guidelinesâ, and yet over and over, you have not found effective ways to handle these problems or suppress the feeling of welcome that these users claim to get here. You have had a long time to work on these problems, but you havenât addressed them. To say you have is untrue.Â
Multiple other social networking websites, such as Wordpress, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and others have effectively dealt with rampant pornography, racism, pedophilia, and other problems without causing massive issues for their users who are not misusing the platform. They are continuing to find new, effective ways to deal with these issues without causing problems for their userbase as a whole. There is no reason that you are unable to do this effectively other than that you wanted to do it quickly. You have once again chosen your stock holders over your users. And we have had enough.Â
You have already started to ban âAdultâ content with a new algorithm. Here are screenshots of just a fraction of the posts you have flagged as containing adult content:
Your new system of simply tackling everything at once is not working. At all. And each of these screenshots is proof of your utter incompetence. None of these posts contain pornographic acts, âfemale nipplesâ, or any community violation of any kind.Â
We, the users, have been asking you for months to deal with these problems - particularly, the porn bots and bots that spam. In order to block a bot from a side blog, I have to do it manually, even though they are in my side blogâs feed. This is a huge issue for mobile - only users. They keep cropping up in droves, taking over our posts and tricking google into making it look like a legitimate blog linked to a pornographic website. We have complained to you for months and months now, and your solution to simply âban all adult contentâ is ineffective. I agree that children should not be able to access pornography - but this is not how you tackle a porn bot problem. Your system is utterly useless, allows for racists, pedophiles, porn bots, and Nazis to remain untouched. It also harms sex workers and real people who may use this website for some forms of adult content responsibly. Moreover, as seen above, it harms plenty of users who have in no way violated your terms of service.
If you keep this up, you threaten your website and company as a whole. Many of us are backing up our blogs and planning places to go to.Â
You already have a content filter for âsensitiveâ content (content inappropriate for younger viewers). You could have improved this, instead of attacking your entire user base. It seems to be a very lazy âsolutionâ, if you could call it one at all, and one that harms your entire userbase.
If you are going to keep this filter in place and make Tumblr, a website that has never been known for being family friendly and has never claimed to be, you are going to lose millions of your users. We are already planning our exodus. It isnât hard to follow. Censor us, and we will go somewhere else. That is not a threat. It is a promise.Â
Sincerely,Â
The users of your website.Â

Why âfemale-presenting nipplesâ matter
When I was 10, my mom made me wear a bra and it felt like a punishment for being different.
When I was 10, I took the bra off when changing for gymnastics and accidentally dropped it in the school hallway. A teacher picked it up and said, âOh, this must belong to youâ and handed it back to me in front of everyone. I quit gymnastics.
When I was 11, I thought maybe the boobs would be okay so long as they didnât get any bigger than would fit in my hand, so I kept measuring it, but they did.
When I was 12, I started wearing two or three sports bras to smush them down, until one day a classmate said, âAre you wearing two bras?!â while laughing.
When I was 13, a boy told me he wanted to squeeze my boobs âuntil they popped.â
When I was 14, I got cast in a play as an older character and a classmate told me I got the role because I had boobs.
When I was 17, my mom told me to return a swimsuit because it would be too distracting for my boyfriendâs father.
When I was 21, I got properly fitted for a bra and everyone felt the need to tell me how much better my boobs looked.
When I was 26, I got pregnant and my immediate fear was that my boobs would get bigger.
When I was 28, I got shamed for trying to feed my screaming baby in public without a cover.
When I was 28, people asked me âwhy are you bothering to use a breastfeeding cover?â
When I was 30, people gave me weird looks that I wasnât yelling at my kid for putting their hand on my boob.
When I was 31, I avoided going to the beach or pool because I didnât want to have to deal with boobs in a swimsuit.
When I was 32, I got asked, again, âwhy donât you get a breast reduction?â
When I was 33, I watched a 5yo girl get shamed for running around in sweltering heat without a shirt on and had to reprimand a bunch of tween boys who thought it was okay to shame her for doing something they do all the time.
When I was 34, my kid kept patting my breast and saying âMommyâs squishy breast!!â They will never see me express any shame about tits, because I want them to have a different mindset than I had. Yes, boobs are nice! Theyâre squishy! Theyâre fun! Thatâs the end of that.
Iâm 35 and no longer give a fuck. I donât care anymore. As a teenager my tits were covered in stretch marks. Theyâve been engorged with milk. My nipple changed shape with pregnancy. Give it another couple decades and my breasts will probably be all wrinkly. Itâs sexual when Iâm using it sexually. I donât fucking care, and I wonât be ashamed anymore.Â
Every time a policy or cultural hangup treats people with breasts differently, it fucks us over.Â
Tumblrâs new policy makes an active choice to participate in this culture of shame. By classifying âfemale-presenting nipplesâ as explicit material, Tumblr has taken a stance that any chest or breast that differs from a male default is worthy of shame and unavoidably sexual. The idea that breasts are shameful and unavoidably sexual is exactly what fucked me up for so much of my life.
Stop shaming people for having bodies.Â
Iâve been seething in rage thinking of this all day and @aibidil put into words what was reeling in my mind.
Our bodies are not porn.

Save The Blogs!
Okay, folks. So. Tumblrâs jumped the shark in a big way, and Iâm not even just talking about indiscriminately blocking all âadultâ content on a platform that IS, in fact, primarily 18+.
Many blogs, like the wonderful @blackkatmagic , that are not especially NSFW have vanished.
(And I for one LIKE being able to go to curated porn blogs run by actual people and have a chance of finding stuff to my taste, it was one of the things that kept me on this hellsite, but thatâs another issue entirely.)
I know lots of people are talking about migrating, but none of us are sure to where yet. Pillowfort seems to be an option, some people are talking about Twitter. But for now, itâs a mess, and even if we knew where we were going, itâs often a huge process, and a lot of us have stuff on tumblr that ONLY exists there. One possible quick solution to save your blogs, both NSFW and personal, is to import it to WordPress. I found this solution through from frantic googling on how to save an entire blog, text posts an all. There are several apps for downloading all the pictures from a tumblr, (Plently for Windows, but only a few paid ones for mac, of which Tumbelog Picture Downloader is working for me so far) but this is the only solution Iâve seen so far that allows you to save EVERYTHING. I downloaded my NSFW blog in like 10 min. My regular blog, which is significantly larger, is in the process of importing, but I donât anticipate any problems. I will, of course, update you if I have any. Â
This tutorial I found worked really easily. http://quickguide (.) tumblr (.) com/post/39780378703/backing-up-your-tumblr-blog-to-wordpress
I put parenthesis around the .âs like weâre back in FF-Hell, just in case tumblrâs new thing about outgoing links kicks in. You know what to do. To break it down, just in case:
Sign up for a WordPress.com account at wordpress (.) com/start Youâll have to create an account, with your email, a username, and a password. They should send you a confirmation email immediately, check it, activate it, and youâre good to go. On the site, it will ask you for a site name. That page asks you a bunch of other information too, but you only have to fill out the site name.
Then you have to give your site a URL. If youâre lucky, your tumblr URL is still available, if not youâll have to come up with another one, sorry.
It will tell you if that option is still available for free.
Then it will ask you to pick a plan. Free is really good enough, I swear.
Now youâre set up! You can import your tumblr! The only differences from the linked tutorial are that the Import button is now on the first level menu, not in tools.
Hit Import, then you have to follow the link for âother importersâ at the bottom, to find the option for Tumblr.
Then youâll have to sign in with tumblr, using your normal tumblr credentials. Youâll be redirected there automatically. Youâll have to allow Wordpress permissions on your blog.
Then your blogs, including all your sideblogs, will show up in wordpress.
Hit import, wait a WHILE depending on the size of your blog, and youâre done!
ALSO!!
I made my NSFW blog private for now, since I donât know WPâs policy on NSFW.
This means that to access it, someone has to have an account and request access. But hey, part of our problem on this hellsite has been people going places they arenât wanted, so I donât personally see this as a bad thing. They can send a request from the landing site on your blog, you get an email, click a link in the email, and PRESTO, they have access. To make it private, go to Settings > Reading > Site Visibility. Go back and check, it took me changing the setting twice for it to actually stick. tl;dr, you can import your entire blog to wordpress in just a few steps.Â
Edited almost immediately to add that Wordpress allows posting reblogging, commenting, AND following, and so it seems like honestly the most logical next place for fandom in my opinion. It also allows a high degree of customization. Iâm going to tag the hell out of this, in no particular order. PLEASE reblog this and spread the word so people know itâs an option. If youâre having trouble, PM me, and Iâm happy to help.
@gallusrostromegalus @kaciart @lena221bee @deadcatwithaflamethrower

There are a whole bunch more, but thatâs a start. Please reblog the hell out of this, so people are aware of this one simple option. EDIT: Weâre not sure yet about wordpressâ stance on NSFW, so definitely mark those blogs private for now. I had one person tell me they got nuked for one NSFW post on a 7 year old blog. Definitely look into other solutions for backing up your blog just in case Private isnât good enough. There seem to be lots of options for Windows, including Python. A quick google search will turn up several. Iâm still looking for a good option for Mac. Anyone know any?
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Snake Codecs: Inkling
I hope you donât take this as me bashing on Splatoon. This is just how I picture Snake as a character would react to the inklings.
Update:
Holy crap, I did not expect this to blow up like it did! The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and I really appreciate it! Thanks guys!Â
I apologize for any contradictions with the actual Splatoon lore. I originally wanted to give an explanation for everything, but that wouldâve made it way too long, even by Metal Gear standards.Â
Anyway, I went ahead and George Lucased the colour grading to make it less overbright and washed out. I also changed one of the lines that used âmarket trendâ twice in the same sentence.
