Nothing encapsulates the sheer white liberalism of this site than the amount of people who seem to think never having been on twitter is a flex. Pre-Musk Twitter was vital to the news and community support networks of leftists, activists, artists, sex workers, BIPOC, and Global South people. Even after Musk and the alt right algorithms he pushes the Black and leftist enclaves do vital work in grassroots organising, fundraising and reporting. Meanwhile, the sex ban turned this site radioactive for anyone that wasn't a white queer. It's the gay version of Reddit now.
We're on the Nuke Black, Palestinian, and Trans Fem Blogs Everyday site. Just because nobody did a Nazi salute on TV it doesn't mean this place isn't racist and full of disinformation. It's been my primary social media for 13 years straight now, so I've seen nearly every iteration of it that I've listed above. All social media platforms are toxic and flog some flavour of fascism because 1) we are the product and they profit off of selling us to the highest bidder, 2) we're living through the global rise of fascism via late stage capitalism and neo-colonial collapse. There's no platform that's necessarily better or worse than the other, our experiences are just shaped by our own marginalizations and privileges. It's all just a trade-off between utility and negative returns for your specific community and needs. Basing your identity on your preferred internet feudal lord is just mistaking consumerism for community.
Like it triggers me badly how common a take "carceral violence is bad and should be limited, except in the case of really mentally ill people who need it and benefit from it" is even among supposedly progressive people

Why is being too depressed to function a thing?
It's got to the point where I can only clean the cats litter boxes once a day. Haven't changed my sheets in a month. Brushing my teeth every day feels like an accomplishment.
I've been depressed for 20 years but I can't remember why this is a thing. Mostly because it's rare for me to be non-functionally depressed when I'm not in a flare. The intermittent occasions when my colon isn't ulcerous and agonizing is when I get shit done, chronic fatigue notwithstanding. I'm not used to not being in debilitating pain and still unable to get off my ass.

i think one of the worst things the left wing internet ever did was push the idea that oppression is basically a virtue, and being oppressed is a sign of your morality. it has made it like…impossible for some of you to hold the idea that most people are privileged in some ways and oppressed in others. AND a lot of you seem to have it in your mind that terrible people cannot be oppressed, and that oppressed people cannot do terrible things, which is a dangerous rhetoric to hold imo.
Teen’s organs failing & NO TREATMENT in >1 MONTH
19-year-old Khalil Al Habil's liver and kidneys are failing. Shrapnel damage from the bombardment that killed his baby brother Omar has gone mostly untreated due to a lack of funds and resources. The ill effects of this damage have progressed to the point that the organs are losing their ability to function. Khalil urgently needs 3 rounds of treatment to combat the effects of his deteriorating liver and kidneys.
We've paid off the first round of treatments but Khalil has two treatments that he still needs. The second costs about $1,250 usd, but we haven’t made much progress in more than a month and his condition is getting progressively worse. We need to meet this second goal ASAP!!!

One legitimately weird thing about Tumblr is that we literally can’t code for shit, many people quit working at Tumblr due to a hostile work environment, and we can’t seem to program a simple blogging website to not flood your RAM.

tbh the first step of recovery is to stop feeling kind of proud about how fucked up you are. your martyr complex is not an endearing quirk it’s the fatal flaw that makes your friends feel like garbage and will sabotage your whole life.
