Hello! My name is Hady, but please don’t call me that. I am a cis and straight guy, no idea how I ended up here. My interests are very static , but if I lose interest in something, I won’t ever care about it again. My blog theme is very important to me, so don’t expect anything that goes against it. The same cannot be said about grammar, I’ll be ignoring that constantly. Grammar will be stricter though if I talk to someone I trust. I don’t speak any languages other than English.

The existence of the project Hail Mary hats in the movie is really funny to me. Like who was the person who said all of the people working on our suicide mission while waiting to starve to death are unhappy. You know what will fix this? 👆 a nice hat. the fact that the ip court case scene makes its way into the book (which is entirely narrated in first person by grace) means that grace was there. which means stratt ordered him to be there. which means that one or multiple of these things are true:

stratt wanted moral support

stratt wanted grace to know how much information was on the hail mary in case he ended up there

stratt for some reason thought they might start asking her science questions and wanted somebody to point to

Look, since Stratt loaded the Hail Mary with every single piece of media in existence up to the ship's launch, that means there are millions of books, movies, and tv shows that are missing their sequels, future seasons, and whatever episodes hadn't aired yet, so... We have to consider the possibility of Earth waking up one day to their first contact message sent by an intelligent species from another planet being something like "hello, can you send us Infinity War part 2, question?"

one of the many things that the PHM movie gets right as an adaptation that a lot of movies don’t is that it understands that movies and books are different mediums that tell stories in different ways. There are things in movies that just can’t work in books, and vice versa.

The PHM book and movie are both good for different reasons. Theyre the same story, but the movie truly feels like a creature of its own, it feels like a movie telling a story, not like a retelling of a book that told a story. The microcosm of this is the karaoke scene in the movie. It’s quite possibly one of my favorite parts of the movie, and it has no analogue in the book. It was created for the movie because movies are audio/visual storytelling. The book leans into the plot, the science, the characters. Things a book can portray very well. However, the movie isn’t as scientifically dense, and instead leans into the visual grandeur and spectacle, the music, color language.

in conclusion, Project Hail Mary book and movie both very good 👎👎👎
